Hi,
I'm not going to say much on that just that most of woven hand and
16horsepower is modal rather than tonal music, david is using old
european church modes. Also there is extensive use of minor chord wich
creates this tension, the first 16 horsepower album is a really good
exemple of that.

Thanks for the photos! I was there the next night, I remember they had
different shirts on. Man, did they blast the doors off of that place?! I
had no idea that they would be that powerful. They had all the nuance that
I did expect, but I had no idea the would have that kind of massive sound.
Ordy is a powerhouse! It was very cool to see Pascal again, hadn't seen
him since the last 16HP show here in 2000. Such a good player. David was
as captivating as ever. I was shocked to see him stand up a couple of time
while he was playing, I'd never seen him leave his stool. Peter was making
some wonderful racket and the tall guys in front of me prevented me from
watching him play. Overall an amazing show with several of unexpected 16HP
numbers, opening with Horse Head, DEE played a solo set that included a
long, stream of consciousness (seemingly) version of Black Soul Choir also
played Strawfoot...I can't remember if there were others. I'm not familiar
enough with the Woven hand songs yet to tell if they played any new songs.
So, no DEE for 7 years and now I've had the chance to see a solo show a
couple months ago and now the band. This must mean that California won't
be seeing him for a long, long time again! I hope that's not the case.
Have a great remainder of spring!

It was a rare treat to finally see WOVEN HAND live in Los Angeles. My
friend and I were beside ourselves to see 16 HORSEPOWER live but it
was not to be. We were introduced to 16 HP in 2003 so we were a tad
late.
The Silerlake Lounge gig was great as one might expect. The small
tavern with an occupancy of 178 was about a hundred people deep.
David's request to have everyone sit fell on deaf ears as the L.A.
crowd stood transfixed throughout the performance which lasted a good
90 minutes.
I took over 20 pictures at the show and posted a few of the best ones
on this site. I have many many other great shots as I was lucky
enough to have free range about the stage, front and back.
The set list was strong and intense as one might imagine. My hope is
that the current fanbase will share the groups material with anyone
with ears enough to hear.
My greatest moment was meeting the entire group and being able to
express myself to them at some length...what a rush.
Most important was my gratitude to DEE for keeping his vision and
focus without selling out to mass appeal. He is a unique performer
with a unique perspective. Even though the group performs a pre-
determined set list, the music still has an improvisational edge and
intensity that makes each number unique from the night before.
Please feel free to contact me with any information you would like to
share.
BTW: LOOK FOR A NEW LIVE SET FROM THE BAND ON CD VERY VERY SOON!!!

Hi Euchrid,
Well, I used to work for Glitterhouse Records for almost 15 years (I quit last
year to start my own company), and I know that these guys are reliable and fast.
Shipping for two CDs to the States would be 6,- Euros, which is more or less
their costs, and it is done the fast way (airmail). They usually ship that same
day when you order stuff they have in stock, which is the case with all their
own releases, like the Ultima Vez CDs.
Try them out, they are great guys, and still music enthusiasts (otherwise David
would not work with them for over 10 albums).
Best wishes
Lutz

Hello Emily,
David will only sell his "regular" albums, "Mosaic", "Consider The Birds" and
"Blush Music" at his shows. He was never into the idea of bringing too many
different titles on tour for merch purposes (also the reason why you never will
find any 16 Horsepower albums on his merch desk).
The best source to get hold of the two soundtrack CDs, "Blush" and "Puur" is
most probably Glitterhouse Records, his European label who actually released
those two albums in their mailorder-only series. Their website is:

Best wishes

from DEE while he's touring? i'm not gonna count on it, but i guess i better
check before i go screwing around with ordering things off the internet. those
are the only two albums i don't physically own and i need to fix that.

A guy on the SCAC list uploaded a podcast of SCAC's recent appearance on WNYC radio's program "Fair Game". He enhanced the sound and tacked on a clip of an unreleased tune called "Americadio", from the same show. Anyone who would like to download this little gem (18.31 MB mp3, 18:26 minutes) can do so through the link below. He said the download will only be up for 7 days, so grab it before next Saturday:
it should be no problem to get this through the Glitterhouse homepage under www.glitterhouse.com That's David's European label and they also have a pretty good records-by-mail department. As the DVD is part of the Ultima Vez trilogy, you would have to type "Ultima Vez" in their search enigine, and it will lead you directly to the DVD box set. I am trying to copy the url to this mail now, don't know if it works.

I was wondering if someone on this list was the person who had posted a bunch of 16HP videos on Youtube, cause now sadly they are gone. : ( I think the name was Yobi something or other????
Not to discourage anyone, but I tried ordering the DVD box when it came out and it was only available in PAL format. The mailorder lass was extremely kind and helpful (they didn't have PayPal yet either though I know this has since changed) so she will let you know whether or not its region free yet.
If the DVD is North America Friendly, please let us all know so that we can flood Ultima Vez with purchases!
Good Luck!
