Hi there,
Does he usually sell out at Voxhall, or would you say I have a chance
of getting tickets at the door? I`m coming in from Norway if I get
the chance...

Where can I get tickets? NIPP doesn't seem to have anything up for it

This is my first post here, and I just wanted to take a moment and
sincerely thank all of you who have taken the time to share info about
any of the concerts you've attended. Whether you've posted a setlist
or comments like Caleb's here, everything you've said has been greatly
appreciated. I'm so far away from any of the shows that I have to live
vicariously through you guys. Thanks very much.
Beautiful thoughts here, Caleb. Very well said.

the part about the Lord killing me is similiar to one of the old testament
prophets...i don't remember which one...i think it's jeremiah or elijah...or
both...they both got so distraught over their lives and situations that they
prayed and wished that they had never been born.

Caleb,
I agree 100%, that is what I love more than anything about DEE, you can tell
when he sings that he believes in what he's saying. The passion in his
voice is amazing. At the chicago show, I stood there almost right in front
of him, and all I could do was stare and sway. His music, and the way he
delivers it, is absolutely mezmerizing. I personally love the fact that he
talks so much about his relationship with God, although many believe that
it's not "cool" to believe in God, he "don't give a rip" what others think
about his beliefs, and to me that is very cool.

You're very right ... the band's announcement had the correct date
but the wrong day. Thanks for pointing that out.

Caught the show last night...going tonight, first time I've seen
David w/out pascal & company. it's different. He started the show w/
what seemed to be medley of 16hp songs lines all strung together w/
different lyrics mixed in throughout. Seems like I've seen postings
that have included set lists....don't know if anyone else was at the
show last night but I would be hard pressed to say that he sang a
single song in its complete album version...which for me made a quite
exciting experience....his lyrics so thoughtful so
communative...Edwards is a real....I mean the songs are not just
these 3-4 minute soundbites it's like a real dialougue between him
and god and the audience and all people dear to him...that's so real.
So rare. Went to some old-time jam a while back and one of the
singers sang one of my all time favs 'Wayfarin' Stranger' and he felt
the need to add a little disclaimer before he sang the song by kind
of scoffing and pointing out that he didn't really believe this kind
of stuff.......Isn't that the whole point? I mean to believe in what
you are saying...singing...writing? What is it if you don't? Just a
show....In the same way that 'it don't mean a thing if it ain't got
that swing' It don't mean a thing if you can't communicate w/ the
value of the song....I'm sure a lot of people will disagree.....
Anyway...here's a lyric from last night that I can't place 'I prayed
for the lord to kill me, but I am unable to die....I've found favor
in his eye? or am the delight of his eye...." I can't quite remember
the exact wording anyone know if it's biblical? hmmm so
familiar....is it from another song?
Anyway, I have to go back out to my garden and get to work so no more
rambling...Going to the knitting factory show tonight....just saw that
Slim Cessna is going to open the show in Pittsburg....Man, that would
be great.....Caleb

I was standing right up front also, that was great! I was off to the left.
I couldn't believe I got that close. I talked to Ordy for a while after the
show and he asked if I wanted to meet David, that was awesome.....highlight
of my year! David seems to be a really nice, and very polite guy.

After this round of touring Soundsfamilyre will possibly be posting
Woven Hand t-shirts on their web store. I'll let you all know if/when
that happens.
I have the set list, I actually stole it but I'll
post it tomorrow.

I have to say, the songs I didn't recognize were great. I first heard
Phyllis Ann at the show and have been listening to it ever since.
Hopefully they'll all be on the next album!

Hey,
Could anyone who went to the Providence show give me a set list to the
best of their recollection? There were a few songs I didn't recognize
but, I thought were absolutely incredible and I imagine they're
on 'Consider the Birds,' which, shame on me for not having yet. More
specifically they were probably the 4th and 5th songs, does anyone know
the songs where he was rhyming 'madness, sadness, etc...' and maybe the
same song or a different song where the chorus was 'What are we doin
here?' Thanks. -matt

could be "deer skin doll" or "dirty blue". those are new ones that
aren't recorded yet. "dsd" seems to be the earlier one played in
sets.

i'm a freak about keeping set lists at shows. habit from dead show days.
actually got the page DEE brought along with 'im. thing is, it
differs a bit from what was actually played.
Phyllis Ann
Sparrow Falls
Straw Foot
Speaking Hands
(a song i didn't know -- not on DEE's print out)
Tin Finger
Chest of Drawers
My Russia
Down in yon forest [had a LOT of alterations from the recorded version!]
Dirty Blue
Black Soul Choir (with Phyllis Ann/Sparrow Falls verse in the middle)
Encore:
[DEE's page lists Pale Blue Fever, but he idn't give it to us!! **BAD WORD!!**]
(a song i can't decipher from my own handwriting!!)
Your Russia
Second Encore:
Golden Rope
--
"My weeds and flowers
would together both grow wild
from a distance,
from a distance,
they come up close to smile."
-David Eugene Edwards
that sounds like the "we do our best....don't we??" song in the middle of "down
in yon forest..."

I can't seem to remember either, the "what are we
doing here?" song he does. I am interested as well,
though I think it's in the middle of a song we know.
