New album coming this summer. No details yet.
Clatu Parada to you all!
A friend of mine and I are proud to announce that we've got the
confidence from Guillaume Nicolas (singer form For Heaven's Sake) to
sell his great album on amazon.de!!!
The debut-CD is called "For Heaven's Sake" and you can order it here:
http://s1.amazon.de/exec/varzea/ts/exchange-glance/Y07Y4325348Y9
549250/302-0687977-9108850
Take care,
Alex
I think Shametown is pure fantastic. The change of speed midway, to hear
that live was an extrordinary feeling.

Hello,
Someone entered a bunch of lyrics which also contained the first
verse of Black is the Color.
It came up to me to send the lyrics of Black is the Color as it is
best known in the Irish Folk scene, indeed, by Christy Moore.
That's all.

I advise you to listen to Christy Moore, who has this song on his
repertoire for more then 30 years.
I must have overlooked something, but what is the reason of this
talking about Black is the color? And what about theft?
Ton Hagendoorn.
The first verse sounds familiar.

Black, black, black
is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like a rose so fair
And the prettiest face and the neatest hands.
I love the grass whereon she stands
She with the wondrous hair.
Black, black, black
is the color of my true love's hair
Her face is something truly rare.
Oh I do love my love and so well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes.
She with the wondrous hair.
Black, black, black
is the color of my true love's hair
Alone, my life would be so bare.
I would sigh, I would weep,
I would never fall asleep
My love is 'way beyond compare
She with the wondrous hair.
Black, black, black
is the color of my true love's hair.
ive got an old book with gospels and spirituals that uses the same words as
david does too.

"The Blush DVD will be released in October 2006 by mk2 (France) in a box with other dance and fiction films by Wim Vandekeybus."
The Ultima Vez web site has recently been redesigned and includes some new info and video clips. Songs by David and/or 16 Horsepower appear in these Ultima Vez productions: Puur, Sonic Boom, Blush.
i was in a civic chorale a few years ago, and we did an americana revue. we
sang a medley and it had words from the song "oh cindy":
"Cindy in the summertime,
Cindy in the fall,
If I can't have Cindy all the time,
I'll have no one at all"
and "weevily wheat":
"Charlie's neat and Charlie's sweet
And Charlie, he's a dandy,
He loves to hug and kiss the girls
And feed them sugar candy."
it was really hard to not sing it different from the rest of the chorus.

Yeah someone sent the "traditional" words. I don't think I've ever
heard the version that DEE does. It has always been a little different,
so I assumed that he changed it up. But I was wrong.

Subject: Re: [16horsepower] March 31 show / Summer Shows
Hello,
Regarding the footnote... I am really interested in dates for any gigs planned for the months of July and August in Denver (and within travelling distance from Denver) for artists such as DEE/WH, Munly, SCAC, Tarantella, Denver Gents, DeVotchka and other similar artists I might not be aware of.
The reason is I'm planning to travel to Denver (from very far away) for some of my summer holiday (will be my first time in the US). The main purpose is to see as many gigs as possible by my favourite bands and musicians. I need to start planning the dates and specifics of my trip so the sooner I have relevant gig information the better, as that's what i'll need to plan around. I know Heather and Shari are always doing a great job of posting gig information as soon as it's available but I wanted to post this because i'm so excited about travelling to Denver this summer... I feel like a pilgrim.
All the best to everyone on the list.
- George
PS Have there been any news about a new DEE/WH album? I have for a time now been sensing that it won't be long at all before we get to hear new songs from David. It's just a gut feeling though...

I"ve heard Nina Simone sing a version of SInnerman, if you are familiar with Verve Remix, that song is on one of their cd's. I like the Nina Simone version very much. However DEE's version the words for the most part are different. I think he did at least write those.
