Liz Berlin has scheduled a special solo performance at Pittsburgh's
Club Café. Join her in this intimate setting for an evening of
eclectic solo
material.
This performance is in celebration of the release of her first solo
album: Liz Berlin –Live, which is compiled of live performances
from three different shows; one at Mr. Smalls Funhouse (the original
recording
studio location) and two others at Mr. Smalls Theatre with The Liz
Berlin
Band. Highlights of the album include the fresh energy of Liz's
first
public performance with string players Megan Williams and Weldon
Anderson
Megan on the Violin &Double Bass, an amazing musical exchange between
Eric Cirelli (guitar) andMegan (violin) and a fabulous improvised
middle eastern intro to Picture by Mavrothis Kontanis' oud.
Liz's collection of original songs - sometimes tranquil,
sometimes funky, sometimes raging- are written on a very personal
level.
She embraces her creativity through intimate songwriting, personal
interaction, and her emotionally charged voice, spiraling from tender
and
chillingly true, into an elegant wailing decree. At her shows, her
life
experiences unfold like chapters in a book as she explores her
imagination
thoroughly, projecting the fine lines and shadowy corners of her
heart and
mind.
Opening the show will be Greg Wood of West Hartford, CT, a solo
performer who combines acoustic guitar and vocals with "live looping"
technology. A unique singer/songwriter, Greg's music features
rhythmically intricate acoustic guitar playing, and introspective,
but relatable
lyrics put to soaring, and often catchy melodies. www.gregwood.com
