After spending several days beneath heaven's canopy, I find myself back here
only wishing my life to be different. As we sat beneath the starry sky and
listened to music created by angels, I began to wonder why we can't have
that everyday. The Great Blue Heron Festival opened my heart up to so much
love and beauty. I want to go back!

Since this list focuses on members of Rusted Root and their solo efforts,
I'll mainly talk about the incredible performances of The Liz Berlin Band
and Mamma Tongue at the Great Blue Heron Festival. Saturday morning I was
geared up for a great day. After waking up to the cozy sunlight, my friends
all headed for the vendors and to grab a "timid" veggie burrito. We then
settled in front of the stage and reserved a spot for taping and relaxing.
Half of us headed down for Jim Donovan's drum workshop. This was a great
experience for beginners who have NEVER touched a drum in their life--such
as myself. I figured, hey if the kids are playing, then I'm going to try
too. It became more complex about the time I needed to head back for Liz'
set, so I left with a good excuse.

My first time ever seeing Liz play solo or with her amazing band or even
meeting her in person was an experience that I can't express in words. All
I know is that no matter how long you want something to last or how much you
want to say, it's never complete. Before anyone can say anything at all
about her music, they MUST go see her live! I was really hoping a demo
would be ready by the time GBHF rolled around, however I do have a
"souvenier" to remember that special day. The Liz Berlin Band--Liz, Megan
Williams, Chris Lore, Michael Speranzo, Frank Marcello--played the following
songs: Tell You Why, Souvenier(the most beautiful song!!), I Love You,
Pretty Things, Tease, Crazy, Patience(a song you'll never stop singing!),
Too Much (w/Jenn Wertz), Fall Down Fast (w/Jenn Wertz), Picture (w/Jenn
Wertz), Ask (had a little New Bo's twist in the guitar intro)

Thanks for letting me escape reality for a day! Damn I need another
vacation though...

I also want to mention how great Matt Neff is if you ever have the
opportunity to bump into him at a Root-related show. He might as well be
considered part of the band's crew considering all the time he puts into
those projects. Thanks Matt for the gift!

As for Mamma Tongue, there's only one word that comes to my mind that best
describes them... DANCE! I don't think I have ever danced so much in an
hour. I heard Rusted Root in there for sure. The drums definately took me
on a trip of my own. I don't have a setlist but most of you have heard the
Mamma Tongue demo that's been floating about. Jim Donovan reminded me why I
love Rusted Root so much... the DRUMS!!! And of course the lovely Liz
Berlin ;-)

I won't forget my trip to the little small town of Sherman, NY or the Amish
folks, or the beautiful people who made my week memorable. Happy Fouth of
July everyone and be sure to enjoy the reunion show for me!

Love & Shine,
Amy

Here is the complete scoop on the Great Blue Heron Festival. The
dates
are June 30th, July 1&2, and the festival is located in
Sherman, NY.

I have just received word that Liz will be playing on the main stage
at 4:15 on Sat. July 1st. Also, Mamma Toungue, (featuring Jim
Donovan
of Rusted Root and many other talented musicians) will be playing
later that same evening.

Tickets for the whole weekend are $44.00 each in advance or $50.00 at
the gate. Day passes are $20.00 for friday, $25.00 for Saturday, and
$18.00 for Sunday.
There is camping on the grounds for weekend pass holders only.
Vehicle camping costs $35 for the upper lot, or $25 for the lower lot

Hello all,
Well to let everyone know about what has all been
happening here and to inform those that maybe don't
know what I am doing. I have a web site (
http://www.angelfire.com/wv/hippiehikerandhorde/LizTrees.html
) that will be hosting ongoing CD trees of mainly Liz
solo material but will also have on occasion shows
from Rusted Root, other solo ventures from the members
of Root (like Mike Glabicki and Jim Donovan as either
the Momma Tongue carnation or any other he plays
with), also will be included will be bands like Psoas
and any other band, solo performer or group of artists
that may have shared the stage with either Liz or
Rusted Root.

I have a few nice items I have received as seeds
that will be making there appearances on a tree (a big
thank-you goes out to Amy Wethington or her kind help
and a few other traders that have let me trade for a
few other shows from there lists). I am doing this
because I like this music but more importantly to get
it out to everyone else who also enjoy it as much,
less or more than myself. So, I have a little survey
I'd like to have everyone participate in to help me
judge what shows are wanted/needed before others so
that I can get an idea of what to tree first, next and
so on. Here is a list of what I'm thinking of treeing
for now. All you have to do is give me your top four
choices of what is listed here or you can rate them
all if you like and send back to me when finished.

The shows are:
         1) Mike Glabicki.....11/8/99..Lancaster,PA
         2) Momma Tongue......??/?/??..Demo
         3) Liz Berlin........1/23/99..Morgantown, WV
         4) " " ........1/28/99..Pitts., PA
         5) " " ........9/10/99..Pollinator, PA
         6) " " .......11/11/99..4:20 Club, PA
Not sure about this last one. They played this night
but the venue it list and song list is different that
what I have found on the Net
         Rusted Root.........10/28/98.. ?????

Thanks for your time and look forward to seeing
everyone's response.

Hello Everyone!
Sorry I haven't written in a long time, but my #1 computer shut itself off
and will not be turned back on. So until I get a new computer, I am forced
to use the slowest computer imaginable. Please don't think I've forgotten
about you or don't care, and please don't unsubscribe if you don't hear from
me in a while.
Liz has been focusing a lot on writing and recording in the last couple of
months, which is the reason she hasn't been playing any shows in a while.
The next performance I can tell you about is The Great Blue Heron Festival.
The festival is held in Jamestown, NY, and the dates this year will be June
30, July 1 & 2. There is camping on the grounds,Lots of vendors with good
food and interesting stuff, and an amazing variety of music and workshops,
all packed into one weekend. We don't know yet which day and what time Liz
will be performing, so I will be sending another message with more complete
information as soon as I have it. In the mean time you can try to hunt down
their website. It may beunder gbhfest.
Good luck and I'll be in touch soon!
Love to all!

Hey all,
First off I'd like to thank Chris (lost your e-mail), for
the copy of the Liz & Rachel McCartney shows on 1/28/99 that
was just treed. They are great, thanks alot!!! After listening
to that show, I know why I love that voice so much. Anyone
know where/when Liz might be playing at in the next few months?

Now, as I was listening to this tape I realized that there
isn't that much stuff of Liz's out there circulating freely.
So, I came up with a general plan but will need the help of
some generous folks. I know that many of us are burden with
trading, B+P, tree or other obligations and can't offer up
everything we'd like to the tribe. I would like to take that
burden upon myself. I'd like to set up a web-page for various
Liz shows to be treed at. This could include any of her solo
stuff, as a guest with another band/artist, with Root and/or
even include from time to time other shows from those she has
worked with. However I'd like the general content be Liz shows.
The only problem I come up against that the previous mentioned
show is all that I have at the present moment. I'd offer it as
the first item but it has just been treed so I'd like to wait
awhile before treeing that particular show again. This is where
I could use the help of some very generous tribers. I know there
are others out there who have great copies of this stuff in there
collections so if you'd be interested in helping out please let
me know. I could name a few I'd like to contact and discuss this
matter with but don't have ther e-mail addies. Also, if anyone
knows if there may be a problem with this type of venture please
let me kow any or all details. Especially you Liz since I wouldn't
want to go against any wishes you might have concerning any of
this material.

Well, if everything goes well then I will be talking to you
all again in the near future with more details.
Thanks for the time and lets keep the music alive.

Peace,
Stacey

Liz Berlin and Rachel McCartney Tree Announcement

Hello everyone! I have some great news to share! Liz Berlin's performance
at Mr. Small's Funhouse has been officially approved for distributing.
Since my equipment is no longer cooperating with me, I have turned my duties
over to Jeff Hyder. He is the co-administrator for Beach Trees and will be
generously running many Rusted Root CD trees in the very near future to keep
the tribe a little more interesting. It's growing quiet out there :-)

Much thanks to Liz and Peter Beckerman for studio mixing a portion of the
show, so we could have top quality tapes for our listening pleasure. They
worked the new songs over and graciously provided a seed for the tree. As
filler, Casey Leibler has transferred some of the Pollinator show to CD-R.
Thanks Casey!

In addition, Rachel McCartney's set will be included on CD two. Rachel is a
very talented singer, songwriter, and musician. Her guitar style is both
incredible and unique, and her songs are very moving. I urge everyone to
sign up for this tree for it is a great opportunity to hear one of the most
beautiful performances by Liz. She put a lot of heart and soul into it that
night. Enjoy!

Love& Shine,
Amy Wethington

Hi EveryoneThis is in answer to a couple of questions I have recieved. In
addition to the messages that I have been sending out, I have also listed all of
Liz's show dates on the calendar section of this news-group thing. So at any
time you can just look at the Monthly calendar for dates and details without
having to sort through old posts. Also, a few of you have been trying to send in
announcements and wondering why they're not showing up. This list has been set
up for the sole purpose of sending announcements, not as a discussion group. If
you guys are interested in that kind of thing, let me know, and maybe I can set
it up that way. Thanks all of you for your interest and support.Love
