Liz Berlin has scheduled a special solo performance at Pittsburgh's
Club Café. Join her in this intimate setting for an evening of
eclectic solo
material.

This performance is in celebration of the release of her first solo
album: Liz Berlin –Live, which is compiled of live performances
from three different shows; one at Mr. Smalls Funhouse (the original
recording
studio location) and two others at Mr. Smalls Theatre with The Liz
Berlin
Band. Highlights of the album include the fresh energy of Liz's
first
public performance with string players Megan Williams and Weldon
Anderson
Megan on the Violin &Double Bass, an amazing musical exchange between
Eric Cirelli (guitar) andMegan (violin) and a fabulous improvised
middle eastern intro to Picture by Mavrothis Kontanis' oud.

Liz's collection of original songs - sometimes tranquil,
sometimes funky, sometimes raging- are written on a very personal
level.
She embraces her creativity through intimate songwriting, personal
interaction, and her emotionally charged voice, spiraling from tender
and
chillingly true, into an elegant wailing decree. At her shows, her
life
experiences unfold like chapters in a book as she explores her
imagination
thoroughly, projecting the fine lines and shadowy corners of her
heart and
mind.

Opening the show will be Greg Wood of West Hartford, CT, a solo
performer who combines acoustic guitar and vocals with "live looping"
technology. A unique singer/songwriter, Greg's music features
rhythmically intricate acoustic guitar playing, and introspective,
but relatable
lyrics put to soaring, and often catchy melodies. www.gregwood.com

After an exhaustive and exciting west coast tour with Rusted Root,
Liz is finally back home in Pittsburgh. A good holiday break and now
back
To work.

If you haven't made yourself recent with Mr. Smalls, make it a
point! You know once 50 Cent drops in to record, there's no turning
back! MTV comes to Small's! On Thursday, December 4th, MTV & MTV2's
show "Advance Warning" with host Jim Shearer will be coming to Mr.
Small's Funhouse to film their 12/14 episode. The crew will be
throughout Mr. Small's Funhouse during the afternoon and picking up
some crowd/performance shots that night at the Low concert. The show
spotlights artists before they break, catering to an audience outside
your typical MTV demographic. The show featuring Mr. Small's is set
to air on MTV on 12/14 at 11:30 (time subject to change on initial
broadcast) and rebroadcasted on 12/22 at 9pm on MTV2. Many great
shows going down at Mr. Smalls Theatre!

More exciting though, is Liz Berlin's Live Solo album. If you didn't
get the
opportunity to pick one up at one of the recent shows, don't fret,
your
horizon just got a little closer! Visit www.lizberlin.com or
www.rustedroot.com to grab your very own copy! Aside from being
wonderfully full of Liz, the cd is only $10!!! Jump on this ASAP!

If you're in or around the Pittsburgh area, Liz is playing a special

Unblurred series:

Unblurred is a monthly community arts event featuring performances,

It's an all Acoustic night with Liz Berlin, Brad Yoder, Delta Blues
Band
and Comedian Mama Spell.

In the near and prevalent future, Liz will be conducting a live radio
interview on Boston University's WTBU radio. If you're in the area,
tune
in at 89.3FM or 640AM. Don't worry if you're not in the area. BU
broadcasts all their programs on live webcasts, and if that's not
enough,
they archive them as well...so you'll be able to check it out one way
or
another. As we confirm the date for this interview, we'll let you
know!

There is a graphic attached to help promote Liz's solo album, so be
sure
to check it out, pass it along to your friends, and post it up in your
cities!

Liz Berlin and Jenn Wertz are well known in the world of touring
bands as the dynamic and harmonious background singers for
Pittsburgh's most successful rock and jam outfit Rusted Root. But not as
many are aware of the songwriting skills and performance prowess that these
two possess outside of that scope. These next few weeks offer fans an
opportunity to experience both these talented singer/guitar/percussionplayers
live and up close.

This Breakthrough project: Liz & Jenn Acoustic offers their unique
qualities: a combination of Jenn's smokey blues sound and Liz's classically
charged voice, in a union of insightful and addictive songwriting & harmony.
Don't miss this rare opportunity to see Liz and Jenn perform together!

Here's a review of last night's show written by a member of Liz Berlin's mailing
list. I couldn't have written it better myself.

Love.

okay, i'm not sure where to start. but i'll preface with this: i slept
about 1.5 hours last nite in a chair so i'm kind of tired right now, but
just kind of. :)

last nite was, for lack of better words, AMAZING!

liz went first and i got a setlist so i'll start with that:
castle (w/ megan williams)
believe
patience
love you (w/ megan and chris)
i forgot (w/ megan)
say yeah
monster
tell you why (w/ megan & chris)
souvenir (w/ megan, theo, chris)
newberry (w/ megan, theo, chris)
picture (w/ megan, theo, chris)
ask (w/ megan, theo, chris)
with me now (w/ jenn)
too much (w/ jenn)

and i know there was someone else on the last four songs playing an
instrument i don't know the name of...she told us but i couldn't really hear
what she said. anyway, her set was incredible, of course--my first live liz
solo show, yay! the song she called her NEWEST is the newberry one--she
said it is an old song but she just now realizes the meaning of it, i like
it a lot. quite a few of the songs i hadn't heard before...i also really
liked "love you." she dedicated a song to her fiance and also said that
"too much" was about him. all i have to say about her set is that she
REALLY needs to record this stuff and release a cd now. :)
after her set, i talked to her a little bit--she's so sweet. i asked her
about guitar tabs for her songs and she said she needs to find someone who
knows how to write them out--so hopefully maybe one day we'll see them
online.

so next we got a very nice surprise--mike glabicki got up and sang four
songs:
thunder
get in your way (w/ korel on accordian)--great song!
BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE W/ LIZ AND JENN.
jack kerouac

i have to say that when they did beautiful people, i almost died. i've
ALWAYS wanted to hear it like that--just the three of them, one guitar and
at the end, just their voices, and it was SO amazing. i think that song got
the loudest and longest applause of the nite. it was GREAT to hear it
stripped down like that...wow. before mike sang jack kerouac, chad shouted
"jack kerouac!" and then mike played it...it was a very psychic moment.

jenn's new band, isabella, went last. her setlist:
body
black dog (w/ mike glabicki)
battlefields (w/ liz)
mama grow
curve
headlights
precious
little girl's solidarity song (w/ liz)
please don't
innocence
woman 2
all your oceans (!!! my fave)
buddy
strong
shotgun
make me right

obviously the only songs i knew were the lovechild ones, and they sounded
great. i liked a lot of the newer stuff too. they're playing at the club
cafe again next sunday and i strongly urge those in the vicinity to go.
jenn has a very dynamic stage presence and everyone in her band is so
talented. missed the harmonica in little girl though :)
right after the show, i went up to jenn and asked for her setlist and she
gave it to me and i told her i met her in milwaukee when she was drunk and i
had asked her to sign something and she drew me a cat instead. :) so she
remembered that and then she drew a winking cat on the setlist from last
nite and signed it. we talked to her for a little bit, she's great.
so the nite was declared a great success and totally worth no sleep and
driving 8 hours (4 today, 4 yesterday) in the rain for. :)

hi matt, good seeing you yesterday! :)
peace yall
andrea

Hello and Happy Happy...
Here's a quick update:

Liz Berlin has been hard at work with Rusted Root writing and
rehearsing for the upcoming new album. It's been a busy
schedule, with rehearsal mostly every day or night. The band
just had a photo shoot (they were seriously in need of some
new photos since Jenn has returned), and in december they
took a pilgrimage to NYC, business capital of the music industry,
to line things up for the next album. The wheels are in motion.

The other good news is Liz Berlin will be playing a special
acoustic show on Sunday Jan. 14th at the Club Cafe on the
South Side (12th Street). The time is 9pm, over 21, and Liz will
be first with Jenn Wertz's band Isabella following. This should
be a very interesting evening. Get there early as space is limited.
See you there!
