I'm
using my QS8 as the main source for pianos, EPs, and receiving MIDI as
a sound source for some pads, brass, organs (with the sliders as
"drawbars"). I send out program changes on two channels to a Roland
XP80, which is programmed for its "mixes" to receive program changes
but play locally, and it? then plays those sounds locally. BTW, the
XP80 requires TWO bank selects to change its banks, so even though the
QS is sending a bank select, everything that I want has to be put into
the XP80's user memory.
Eventually, I'm hoping for a PC3-76 as well, though I might have to
settle for the PC3LE version. I'd keep the QS8 as controller, and put
the XP80 in the middle, and the PC3-76 on top, or get a PC3x for the
bottom, put the XP80 in the middle, and get a QS7 for the top. Both of
these 76 key instruments have much more solid keyboards than, for
example, the Juno Stage (which, though the electronics offers much of
what I'd like, has flimsy keys and no aftertouch). I'm using three
keyboards, because in the classic-onward rock band I'm in, www.Cincyrockers.com
I sometimes need, for example, two distinct left hand horn parts and the QS is
being used as a full-range piano.
I have YET to see any controllers/keyboards with as optimum a live-use
patch change layout as the QS series; nice big buttons, spaced widely
enough to avoid hitting two at once, no extra "enter" push. . .

Hey guys long time no see...
So just to kep the list rolling I would like to ask how many of you still use
their QS as your main synth? and if it still is, what are you planing to upgrade
if posible?
Personally my QS7 still is my main thing for gigs and sometimes add a Korg N1R
when posible but for recordings I use plugins and maybe go back to the QS for
some sounds that I can't replicate. I'm actually plaing to move on to a Kurzweil
PC3 as soon as my economy jumps back on track.?
