The Third Saturday Music Society is a group of musicians in the Akron, Ohio area that likes to play music and sing with old and new friends. We get together on the 3rd Saturday night of every month at various houses in Akron, Copley, Hudson, and other neighboring towns.
We play mostly acoustic, though if there is room at a house for acoustic and electric, we will often plug in. Usually 30 to 50 people show up, and we always have a few guitars, one or two mandolins, a dulcimer, and a bass (an upright bass when we're lucky, otherwise an acoustic or electric bass). We also usually have a flute, a fiddle, a banjo, keyboards, drums, a dobro, and whatever shows up. It's kind of pot-luck, but it usually sounds great and we often play 'til 4 in the morning.
We play a wide variety of from Old Timey to folk, to 60s to contemporary folk rock, including Beatles; The Grateful Dead; Peter, Paul Mary; Van Morrison; Bob Dylan; CSNY; Eric Clapton; The Eagles; The Birds; Donovan; and many more.
