Thanks for the info Jo and Stuart.
Coincidentally I received the Camera Obscura "Holiday Edition" of My Maudlin
Career, given to me by my wonderful girlfriend (who would have to be just by
finding this for me!). We saw them live in DC, and she had recently heard me
complaining about how I couldn't find the Blizzard 7" easily. I had no idea of
this version, which made me wonder how anyone would, unless you start looking
for everything related on amazon.com - that's where it came from. It is the
normal cd, but shrink-wrapped with it is a 1-track "Blizzard" cd (also
shrink-wrapped itself ). The barcode from the single is the same as that for the
7", but I can't spot any label numbers on it. I just put the cd in itunes, and
it was recognized. I am learning a lot about barcodes today (and "itm", I didn't
think of the obvious there!). I searched on the barcode for the overall
package(652637290790), which includes the individually shrink-wrapped cd and the
cd single, but nothing came up. The site allowed me to see other items with the
same prefix, and they were all 4ad releases.
all in all, one sweet day for me :)

Ah Jo! You got there before me. :P Nothing more to add really - other than it
was made available to download for nothing if you signed up for the Camera
Obscura website. :D
Oh and a one track cd promo exists as well but that hasn't got any artwork. Just
the CD.
Stuart
It's a bit misleading with the spaces in the catalogue number, as we no longer
have spaces in the catalogue number for anything, but it might still show on the
artwork.
That release is an iTunes only one, (hence the ITM - thats their three digit
code) - this is the link you need, it was just a single track release -

I'm not sure if it was worldwide, but this often happens when a track goes to
radio, and it's released early so people can buy it.
Hope that helps!

Hello everyone,
I lost track of the 4ad forum, and now found it here thanks to a kind fellow
selling a cd on ebay :). I was surprised to see Tindersticks now on 4ad, that is
the type of information I have been missing.
What I reallly want to know is what this is:
CAMERA OBSCURA
My Maudlin Career EP
FEBRUARY 9 (UK)
EAD 2911 S ITM (Digital download)
I did some searching but google brought me right back to the posts on the 4ad-l
group.
What tracks are on it? I didn't see it available to download from 4ad, but maybe
I was looking in the wrong places.
thanks!
Bump.

Mainly for this :
Michael Allen, from The Wolfgang Press, is exhibiting his paintings this weekend
at Wimbledon Art Studios – there's some great work on show and I'd highly
recommend the trip.

Cherry Red will be interesting....
The circumstances surrounding it are pretty sad, but if it means she'll make her
music heard sooner, it can only be a very good thing!
I've got a copy of the 12", and wish it looked a bit more spectacular... sigh!

Hey Jeff great list - don't know what I'd do without you! :P
The only thing I can add is that there is a 2 track CD promo for St Vincent's
Marrow. Has the tracks Marrow / Oh My God and comes in a jewel case rather than
the usual card or plastic sleeves. Also it has the matrix CAD5826 on the CD (yup
- confused me too!). Looks like this was a US promo that was imported into the
UK at a later date because the list of US tour dates on the back has been
stickered over with the relevent UK tour dates from Oct / Nov.
That's reminded me, will anything compilation wise ever appear for
Throwing Muses?
I might have imagined it, but think there has been talk of a best of,
a b-sides album, even a live DVD at one point.
And wasn't there also talk once of a second Murder, Misery bu Kristin...?

So what did we get this year: another 40 (or so) releases with quite a few that
i actually liked (St. Vincent, Dark Was The Night, Camera Obscura - have yet to
make up my mind regarding tUnE-yArDs), but then again some that i'm still
struggling to find interesting (Broken Records, Atlas Sound).
AFAIR v23 had two main projects but after the intriguing debut single The Big
Pink couldn't fulfill the high expectations (in terms of both design and
substance) while the decadent 'Minotaur' set wasn't on 4AD at all (thank god for
that!).
It might be argued that the fading label identity is showing in the slight
activicty here. For instance I'd think that a couple years ago the pairing of
two 4AD acts (St.Vincent & Bon Iver) for inclusion in a Blockbuster Vampire
Movie would have generated quite a buzz on the 4AD board.
I'm looking forward to 4AD albums by The National and Tindersticks although i've
yet to buy the last ones. As far as Efterklang goes i don't really know what to
expect, but curious i am. (I also noticed that the Breeders are still listed as
current artists, but apart from any compilation-stuff i can't really imagine any
further 4AD releases by them)
Anyway - a nice festive season and end of year to all of you!
oops! 2010!!

well... i'm about to listen to it for the second time, but not because i really
liked their sound, but to give them a second chance... the singer's voice is
good, and some of the harmonies/sounds are good, but i'm not fully won.
