The 5-string-banjo list is for discussions of interest to 5 string banjo players. Common topics of discussion include issues relating to learning and playing, questions about banjo set up and repair, discussions about which banjo or banjo picker is the best, as well as news of general interest to the banjo playing community.

Posts are not limited to any particular style of music - all styles of playing the 5-string-banjo are welcomed, whether clawhammer or 3-finger melodic jazz. We do have a (very) few list conventions:

1) Subscribers are always welcome to post instruments for sale, but no retail or commercial postings.

2) NO attachments. If you have a file of interest, such as tab or a picture of a banjo that you would like to share, you can upload to the files section of the newsgroup.

3) NO SPAM or off-topic postings. All postings should have something to do with banjo picking. While there is some latitude given, subscribers guilty of blatant off-topic postings may be banned from the group.

4) NO FLAMING. Everyone is welcomed to post opinions, but discussions should be limited to the topic being discussed. Ad Hominem attacks will not be tolerated and flamers may be banned from the group.

5) Because of the ability to hide active x nasties in HTML, postings done in HTML will be converted to text to avoid potentially damaging scripts from being transmitted to the group at large.

6) No rude, discourteous, or profane language will be tolerated.
