Turning thirty was a delight. Chicago is a great town and everyone should go
check it out.
Quick GVSB thoughts and notes:
The festival took place on a parking lot that is usually where garabage trucks
park. There were two stages at either corner so you could just turn around an
see the other stage or stand in the middle and see both. Very nice set up and
the people were polite.
GVSB started to soundcheck as Supersystem took the stage and drowned out their
set. There was a bit of talk that Alexis was not there due to another guy
setting up his drums and soundchecking while the other GVSB members were on
stage but in the end, he showed.
Funny sight, Eli bouncing on the side of his stage to make sure he would not
fall through the plywood when he bopped around.
They were introduced to, what I thought, a very excited crowd. Johnny still uses
the duct tape to wrap his wrist (ouch). GVSB played the entire V-Lux album, in
order, start to finish. Awesome to hear Get Down while the sun is setting.
Eli was having probelms with the keyboard. During one song he was playing while
tweaking some cables causing him to miss some back up vocals. He muttered "I am
getting too old for this," with a smile on his face.
They ended up playing Kill the Sexplayer and the Superfire before ending the
set. Before Superfire, Eli had to clear all the chords around him so he could
bounce around again.
Found out what Billy's One Stop was about being pulled over by the cops... now
the song makes sense.
Yes the show was incredible and I hope they tour so I can catch them in DC.
