I am a singer/songwriter/musician myself and I don't think it's selling out
to be involved in more than one kind of music at the same time. All I meant
by my selling-out comment is that it is quite obvious, unless you crank-out
processed pop music, you don't get radio play. Pure & simple. Sure there
are some popstars taht get through that trap (Michelle Branch, etc.) but
seriously, Jewel's latest radio releases haven't been doing that well...and
it just seems to be the easiest route to get some attention & boost record
sales: do what everyone else is doing.

Perhaps I lumped my own frustrations w/ the music industry into my previous
reply. But Jewel has never been bubblegum pop -- I just think it's a bit of
a reach for her to crank-out soemthing like this now, esp when the bubblegum
popstars are polluting the airwaves so.

I have yet to see the video so I can't comment. The song itself might even
be a parody and a mockery of the industry ways. I can't say. I can say,
though, that her voice *IS* killer in the song, it's very-well produced
...but it's not the way I prefer to hear Jewel.
