I still use them for found sounds, environmental recordings, one offs /
annotation / practice, & recording TV samples. The bulk of my recordings
are still on old rotting 2-track & 4-track cassettes, so I'll need
playback decks for the forseeable future. I do most of my editing and
mastering on the PC now because CD-Rs are cheaper + easier to replicate.
I will be phasing out my cassette catalog soon. Hate to do it, but Cds
make the most sense for me now. I'll probably still do tape dubs for
fanatics, but not as a general rule.
