Hello, And many thanks to all who came to see and hear us at St.
Melany's Russian Festival last weekend. It's already time to break
out those balalaikas, domras, and dancing shoes again, for the Tucson
Meet Yourself Festival. The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra will be
playing on Sunday October 15th, 3PM, at the City Hall Stage in El
Presidio Park. There are three stages running this year, so be sure
you come to the right one. We're the stage closest to all the food
boothes! Admission is free, so bring the family!
Hope to see you there,
Suzanne.

My great apologies. I will certainly give it my best. Because of a
confluence of events, I almost missed it myself!
Just before we played today, I found out that KXCI (91.3 FM) would be
broadcasting the Folk Festival, but I didn't know which stage they
would air, because there were 4 or more stages going at once. It did
turn out to be our stage, time delayed by 90 minutes. I sure wish I
could have known about all this in advance. There were ALOT of
people all over the country I sure would have liked to tell about it,
to listen via the KXCI web site. As it was, I couldn't even get home
in time to let anybody know. The Folk Festival runs through tomorrow
(Sunday), so I will be tuning in for some more music, myself.
There will likely be at least one outdoor AZ Balalaika Orchestra event
coming up in the fall (maybe Tucson Meet Yourself?), and now that I
know it's sometimes done, I will try to find out if it will be
broadcast too.
Our next big event in the near future (which I personally cannot make
this time), is to join the Sons of Orpheus Men's Choir at their annual
May concert on May 14th & 15th, at Pima Community College West. They
join us in our annual February concerts for 4-5 rousing choral
numbers, and we join them in their annual May concerts for the Russian
portion of their repertoire. These are generally the same numbers for
different audiences. The rest of their concert is _not_ Russian. But
if you enjoy both of our groups, you might be interested in their
concert/ticket information at http://www.sonsoforpheus.org
Again, my apologies.
Suzanne.

The 20th Annual Tucson Folk Festival is in full swing this weekend in
Presidio Park behind the old (and new) courthouses in downtown Tucson.
Come on down for great music & booths.
The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra will be playing many of our standard
foot-stompin' gig tunes for a half hour on the Plaza Stage next to
City Hall, beginning at 2:00pm Saturday.
Come check it all out.
Are you not thrilled by football? Do you really care who wins? Well
neither do we, because we're right where we have the best time of all
--- on stage for you,the audience!
Come to the best Arizona Balalaika Orchestra concert ever, in
"Balalaikas Go Hollywood!", where we perform our favorite Hollywood
Russian numbers. (Yes, there are plenty!) We will be joined, of
course, by the Sons of Orpheus Male Choir of Tucson, the Kalinka
Russian Dancers, fabulous visiting guest artists, and an all new
audio/video production. Curtain goes up at 2:00 this afternoon. You
can tivo that ole' football game.
Spectacular music, spectacular singing, spectacular dancing,
spectacular costumes, and we promise -- no wardrobe malfunctions.
Arizona Balalaika Orchestra
If you're looking for something to do on a Saturday night tonight,
come on down to the Tucson Meet Yourself Festival at Presideo Park.
There will be lots of ethnic food and music, and our own Arizona
Balalaika Orchestra and Kalinka Russian Dancers have the stage for a
half hour starting at 6PM.
See you there!
The Arizona Balalaika Orchestra is hosting this year's convention of
the Balalaika and Domra Association of America (BDAA), in Tucson, AZ,

fun! For information, please visit our convention page at:

See you there!
Many thanks to all who participated in our wonderful recent Annual
Gala Concert of 2004: our Orchestra members, the Kalinka Russian
Dancers, the Sons of Orpheus Men's Chorus, visiting players and guest
soloists who travelled long distances to perform with us, and
especially, to you our friends and audience who make it all
worthwhile.
The orchestra and dancers hit the road for our next scheduled
performance, Sunday, March 7th at 4:00 PM, at Rio Verde Community
Church in Rio Verde, AZ, about 20 miles northeast of Phoenix. (The
church is handling admission.)

Our next Tucson appearance will be at the EMAT Fair at the Foothills
Mall, Sunday March 14 at 1:00 p.m. This will likely be a smaller
ensemble of our musicians and dancers, but will be a very lively half
hour program. Free to the public.
Hope to see you at one or both of these events!
