She appeared as Fiorfiligi in COT's Cosi two years ago with Swedish mezzo Tove Dahlberg: they successfully conveyed the idea - as two Swedish blondes - that they really were sisters.
(that Cosi was set in a trendy singles bar, run by Don Alfonso)
The biggest star of the Poppea show was Danielle De Niese as Poppea, at 24 she's already appeared at the Met and in Europe (Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare/Netherlands, etc.) and is Semele in the new Arion recording.
Also superb were Krisztina Szabo as Ottavia, soprano Michael Maniaci as Nerone, Tobias Cole as Ottone. The always-involving direction was done by Diane Paulus.
COT brings us first-class baroque opera, something Chicago has needed. (They also do other things, e.g. this year Britten (Death in Venice) and Rossini (Viaggio a Reims).
