Hello all & Happy St. Patrick's Weekend!!

Tomorrow afternoon for the 2nd consecutive year, I join Andy & his
band as an additional rhythm guitarist for the day at the former
Westbury Music Fair in NY, now known as North Fork Theatre at
Westbury, to help promote http://www.prunebelly.org.

If anyone happens to take pictures or video of the show, please e-
mail me at SpoonWalkCD@....

I hope to see you there & again I have to thank Andy in advance for
this amazing TWICE-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Really enjoyed your Nov. 28th concert. I viewed it in my home in Little River.
You did a
great job. You played at Gavin's the weekend of my 70th birthday
celebration--your
singing made it extra special for my family and I. Just joined your fan
club--something
I've never done before.

Please let me know when you are coming to SC again. I know you mentioned a spot

I know this is off topic, but I had to let you all know, as I was a
guest of Vincent Mitchell's for the sold out concert of 2,000 people
who attended the Landsdale Celebrity Series.
The concert was done magnificantly by Anthony and Patrick. First,
when the last song "DANNY BOY" ended, they got a round of applause.
They looked at each other and came to the front of the stage and bowed!
Little did they know, that although it was so wonderful to deserve a
standing ovation, people COULDN'T get out of their seats as the seats
were very low to the ground. LOL!!!! They did receive two encore
performances in Mattinata and O Sole O Mio!!
The highlight of the concert for me was to finally meet SEAN CASEY,
the other half of CMI ENTERTAINMENT!!! I have to say I work for TWO ver
attractive men. I am partial to one as everyone knows.LOL. But Sean is
a sweetheart in his own right..... I am posting a photo under files!
Vincent Mitchell is on the left and Sean Casey is on the right.
Lynn!

Hi all,
Just wanted to let anyone know who might be going to the Mets game on
Tuesday, May 3rd, as Andy Cooney will be singing the National
Anthem!!!! Andy is a biggg Mets fan.... Best chanch of hearing Andy
sing the National Anthem will be the radio, as Mets television usually
does not broadcast the National Anthem......I'll have my radio station
tuned in on Tuesday night, even though I'm like, Vince and am a big
Yankee fan!
I contacted MLB and if they give me approval, and I get Andy's
singing of the National ANthem, it will be on Ireland On Stage!

--Hi Maura,
I totally agree with you on Tony Kenny and George Casey. George
and I are emailing, as George pointed out he has to go to CMI
Entertainment or iRELAND On Stage to find out where he is performing!
I told him I'd send him any new concerts as Vince sends them to me.
He appreciated that, and by the end of the weekend he was calling me
his friend. That is something I value more then anything else. The
friendships I have formed with Vince's clients are very important to
me, and I appreciate all their kind words. Tony was wonderful, and
Saturday night at the lounge we had a nice talk, and I can't remember
a person I liked right from the get go like I did with him. I told
Vince that no one puts on a show like Tony. Tony was on Friday night,
and even Vince said Tony sang longer then he normally does.
I already pleaded with Vince to let me come back in November, and
he said it was no problem. I can't wait.
I will be seeing him in June!!!

LONG LONG time fan of Tony Kenny and now George
Casey...these two together are something else...

Tony is such a gentleman, I've known him since "My
Son" came out and have cruised with him often...his
adding of George Casey to his group was a great move,
I saw him first in Missouri and he was a sweetheart.

Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Hi all,
Just returned from the mountains, and Villa Roma!!! 3 DAYS without
computer. This is a first for me! LOL.... Anyway it was a wonderful
weekend. The entertainment was fabulous, in Tony Kenny on Friday
night, Also, Willy Lynch and his band, and Cherrish The Ladies.
I had the pleasure of staying with the entertainment, so for meals,
I got the chanch to sit with them, and hear their stories. George
Casey, the commedian who travels with Tony Kenny is a perfect
gentleman, as well as being extremely funny. The first night i sat
between Noel Kingston(master of ceremonies) and a wonderful
entertainer, and George. Vince sat next to George. Tony didn't come
down as he was performing that night. Everyone else was there, and I
couldn't stop laughing.

The main show with Tony Kenny was outstanding. I am definately going
to see Tony again at PNC Arts Center in June and told him so at the
lounge afterwards. NOW, those of you who have traveled with me in the
past, w ill probably NOT believe this, but its true, I stumbled into
the hotel room well after 1:30am on Saturday morning!!! Friday
night, we went to Marty's Lounge in the buliding, as Willy Lynch was
playing, and we were sitting talking.... All of a sudden i heard
singing, as Heart of My Heart was being done by Willy Lynch. The
intrumental part was playing and I looked up and Tony was singing and
smiled at me. He kept singing, and I looked over to Vince, who smiled
Tony turned and started talking to George Casey.

Saturday was very busy starting at 7:15am! and not stopping till
11:35 at night.... What a day. Cherrish the Ladies were fantastic,
but I told Vince no one holds a candle to Tony. Once you see him
perform, he is dynimate. Maybe Andy Cooney, whom I also consider a
terrific entertainer.

After Cherrish The Ladies I went up to my room to freshen up to go
back down to Marty's Lounge. Vince said he was calling my room
wondering where I was. I feel ASLEEP!!!!

Two more clients came from this trip. I am now doing the updating of
Edmund Sullivan, Irish/Artist painter, whose paintings are on display
at Villa Roma. Anyone whom has Visited Villa Roma when Anthony was
there, knows you have a chance each time to enter a raffle for a free
painting of Edmunds. Guest's put their stroke on the painting, and
Edmund fixes it up and then there is a raffle... I will be doing his
website, as well as Noel Kingston, Master of Ceromies, and
Entertainer.

I asked Vince if I could pleasse come back in November and he said of
course, reason? Not only because Vince is there, but because Hal
Roach, The Irish Sopranos, and The Play A Couple of Blackguards, with
Frank MacCourt.....!!!!!!!! With all these clients, I might need
help!!! Certinally am considering cutting back on my job I DON'T
like,(at the supermarket) as a manager, and working on my true joy,
which is websites....

Sorry so long, but I wanted to fill you all in. I took over 100
photos. I am going to start working on them, fixing them, etc, and
will send you all a link!

Sounds like a great package for the weekend.  I have been "threatening" to come to Gavins for years now.  This just may be the time I really do it. It would be great to have a real gathering of Andy's fans.

I was at the show working for the band selling CD’s and the account Frank has given is correct, although he left one part out about his friends and family going NUTS, they gave him a STANDING OVATION…

Andy Cooney is an amazing person!
How's THAT for an opening? :)

When he's home on Long Island, he will occasionally frequent a pub I
play music (mostly guitar & vocal) in on a weekly basis.
We have gotten to know each other over the last few years & I
consider him a good friend.

One night when he was there, I played a song I wrote called "Not The
Only One", through which I'm hoping to use to raise awareness for a
medical website I am Vice President of called www.prunebelly.org.
He asked me about the origins of the song & I gave him the background
about the website & the medical condition it pertains to, of which I
was born with.

I told Andy that I hold several annual local benefits for the site &
said it would be great if he & I could ever find a way to work
together to raise funds & awareness for them.

Andy found a way.
Every March for 11 years, Andy brings his Forever Irish show to
Westbury Music Fair, recently changed to North Fork Theater at
Westbury, held this year on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in a half-round
setting, with half the theater curtained off.
Andy asked Westbury to allot him 50 tickets, which in turn he would
forward to me to sell with a percentage of each sale going to this
site.
In doing so, we raised $400!!!

But he didn't stop there……he also asked me to join him on stage that
evening & he would help promote the site.
Originally we thought it would be for one song & a brief mention,
which then quickly became, "Hey, do you want to play guitar for the
night?"
"The WHOLE night?"
"Yeah."
"At Westbury Music Fair????"
"Yeah."
FAINT!!!!!!! LOL!

I've been attending shows there for 25 years, always dreaming of
having the opportunity to play there someday.

So he gave me a DVD of the concert he filmed recently for Public
Broadcasting Television & for sale & said "just learn this show &
you're good to go!"
WOW!!!!
So I watched the DVD, which consisted of a large band, including
backing vocalists, orchestra, & 2 or 3 acoustic guitarists (that's a
key point….keep reading, LOL!).
Great performances on EVERYONE's part & seeing that he had more than
one guitarist led me to think (by my own doing, mind you) that I
would just be for show & not have to be responsible for much…….WRONG!
LOL!
I find out when I get there, that the band is scaled down to the core
5 pieces & I'm the only rhythm guitarist that night! EEK!!!!!! ;-)
And as the night is swiftly approaching, Andy asks me to also be
ready to sing some harmony throughout the evening, so now I HAVE to
know what I'm doing!!! LOL!

So I get there around 4pm that afternoon to meet the band & run
through some of the songs.
The band is the nicest, funniest, gracious & most gifted bunch of
guys I've ever met.
These are top-notch, A-list players!!!!
Upon hearing my name, Matt, Andy's extremely talented
flute/sax/whistle/you-name-it player dubbed me "Frank Rizzo" &
proceeded to go into a slew of Jerky Boy impressions!!! ROFL!!!!!

We rehearse some of the songs & the band lets me know that there are
a few songs being done that night that are not on the DVD & they hand
me some sheet music to play along with, so I purposely lay low on
those while still playing something, terrified out of my mind, & I
just listened very intently to make sure I know where each song is
going & despite some obvious mistakes that I noticed, they weren't AS
noticed to anyone else & all went well.

Luckily I'm blessed with the ability to pick up things pretty quickly
& despite my fears of stepping on anyone toes at any point, Andy &
the band all made me feel very comfortable & welcome, which I'm
extremely grateful for.
They helped reassure me that my thoughts of persuing music are not in
vain.

During the rehearsals, the band goes outside the theater for some air
& a quick ciggie & I suddenly realize….it's late in the afternoon, no
one is in the theater yet except maybe one or two of Westbury's tech
staff, & I'm now ON STAGE ALONE at Westbury Music Fair!!!!
So I put my guitar down for a second & walk to the middle of the
stage & just stand there a few minutes, taking in the fact that Frank
Sinatra, Harry Chapin, Ringo Starr & probably EVERY major
entertainer/act you could ever think of stood RIGHT HERE. I just
stood there & let it sink in while an occasional tear or two came
down. It didn't matter HOW I got there or what I role I was taking on
to BE there. At that moment I realized one of my dreams.
VERY overwhelming feeling……..

There was about 2 or 3 hours in between rehearsal & showtime, so I
spent a lot of it talking to the band members, pacing like a madman
(LOL!) & calling family & friends, meeting & getting to know Charlie
the theater sound-man, Tommy the stage monitor sound-man, & Jeannie &
another woman who run the backstage kitchen.
All very nice & patient people who ALSO made me feel very welcome &
comfortable.

Going into the small kitchen area, I was overwhelmed by the 2 out of
4 brick walls that were COVERED with autographs by anyone whoever
played there.
The first one that really caught my eye was a huge red autograph from
Liza Minnelli!
If the place is ever torn down for any reason, they have to auction
these 2 walls at Sotheby's or something!!!! ;-)

I told Jeannie why I was there & what the charity was about & she was
very interested.
At one point she stops & says "Did you ever play Cap's Restaurant in
Seaford with a female singer?"
D'OH!!!
I give her my music-duet picture-business card & she says "I've seen
you guys!!! You're great!!!!"
VERY small world! LOL!
So we start talking some more & had a great time!
Fast forward to after the show……as I'm saying my goodbyes, I go to
the kitchen & Jeannie says "Before you go, here."
She hands me a black magic marker.
"Sign the wall."
"What? I can't do that!"
"No, this was a dream of yours. Complete the dream!"
Again, FAINT!!! LOL!
So I sign, "Thanks for making a dream come true!" & sign my name.
I think for a second, "How can I make this REALLY count?"
DING!!!!! I also list my music & charity websites, in the hopes that
ANY star will see it when they're hungry & will be curious about
it! ;-)

Now about the show itself:

Andy had a major flu-bug thing going on & was admittedly struggling
quite a bit.
But in terms of performance, it never really showed vocally & he did
a great job!
The band & I walk on first & the 50 people who bought tickets through
me were all sitting together in rows 3-6 of section D & they go nuts!
LOL! Gotta love my friends!

It was an amazing family-oriented show, featuring not just Andy, but
some amazing Irish dancers every so often, Andy's daughter who danced
with him during a song called "Daughter of Mine", Andy's son (who
reminded me of a young Ron Howard) who sang "You Raise Me Up" (made
famous by Josh Groban, & coincidentally written by the brother of
Andy's main guitarist!), then also did some Irish dancing himself!
Andy admitted that "this kid is my pension plan, folks!" ROFL!

The show also featured a hysterical comedy duet called Mac & O….think
Irish Smothers Brothers!
I have to admit that I didn't catch their entire portion of the show,
but the bits I DID hear were amazing & they were both extremely nice
people.
My friend said they were in tears over how good they were.

Throughout the evening, I'm playing subtle yet up front enough to
give the impression that I'm supposed to be there, LOL.
Toward the end of the show, Andy introduces each member of the band.
I'm sitting furthest to the right & I'm the last one he comes to.
He asks me where I'm from & I say "Hicksville, 10 minutes from here!"
LOL!
"From Hicksville, Long Island, he's a very talented musician &
songwriter & we're grateful he's joined us tonite, give a big hand to
Mr. Frank Walker."
My friends & family in section D go NUTS, which surprised both of us!
LOL!

Andy then stops & tells everyone about www.prunebelly.org………roughly
quoting him…..
"Frank is here tonight representing a medical organization called the
Prune Belly Syndrome Network.
Anyone ever hear of that? I hadn't.
People born with this condition are usually born without abdominal
muscles & other complications can occur.
The amazing thing is, 50% of people born with this die before their
2nd birthday!
Frank was born with this condition & look at him! He's obviously not
2 years old! LOL!
(Applause from the audience)
We're helping him raise awareness tonight for this by my mentioning
it now & by giving 50 people a chance to be here in the audience
through a percentage of sales through Frank & we hope we're helping."

Took me everything I could muster to fight back tears through
that……..not only did I realize a dream to play music at a famous
venue & not only were my mother & many close friends there to witness
it, but we did it for a charity I have strong ties to & it DID help.
A few people came up to me asking for more information about it,
which I passed on to them….thanks to Andy's willingness to help.

After the show, I bid farewell to everyone in the band, who all
genuinely wished me well & we expressed our mutual hopes that we'll
do this together again someday.

As I said goodnight to Andy that night after all was said & done, I
explained all this to him & felt myself succumbing to tears while
doing so.

Andy, I've talked to you since then & explained this further to you
personally.
Your faith in me as a fellow musician & your generosity as a friend
literally means more than I can ever express & I hope that we CAN do
it again someday, maybe even with my partner providing extra backing
harmony? ;-)

Thanks for reading & for wanting to help-
