Annette Peacock, avant-garde jazz/rock singer (10 albums since '72) and composer of Paul Bley's 60's repertoire.
Her first NYC public appearance in 20 years at Downtown Music Gallery, where she did a brief 30 minute solo performance, and signed her new CD, AN ACROBATS HEART on the ECM label, was a fantastic success, with people crowding on the sidewalk straining to hear thru the open door. There are some signed copies remaining for those who could not be there - contact DTM.
Afterwards she taped a special segment for David Garland's NPR radio show SPINNING ON AIR airing nationwide in January (Fridays 8-10 PM on WNYC in the NYC area; live and archive audio streaming available at www.wnyc.org), and visited possible performance spaces in NYC (including Merkin Hall, Tonic and Knitting Factory) for the two different group projects she will be preparing: backed by a string quartet, and a rock band, for live shows around the US and Europe.
