Suncoast Blues Society......................Your Mojo Support Group

“When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come to the conclusion that
the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing
knowledge.” - Albert Einstein

Some nice folks just opened a bar and grill…J.C. Cravers (191 Orange St, Palm
Harbor - 727-216-6412)…in Ozona. Last Friday they had Woody And The Wood-Tones
for their Grand Opening. (Next Sat, July 4th, Woody & Co. will open for The
Damon Fowler Group there). They plan to have live music on weekends, mostly
blues, maybe some classic rock....I spent quite a bit of time there in one of
it's previous incarnations, and...WOW! The place looks great! I loved my Chicken
Caesar salad, and Anne said the Salmon was great, and Steve told me their Prime
Rib Sandwich was the best they ever had! Woody and the Wood-Tones were a LOT of
fun, too! .....these guys were a blast, and you gotta' love anyone who plays
"Gimmie Back My Wig"...

Kenny Linn’s friends and family gathered to celebrate Kenny's Life on Sat, June
27th. It was a get-together of those impacted by Kenny's life, his personality
and his passions. Kenny had so many interests and aspects in his life! This was
more a joyous celebration than a wake. Thanks to Todd Ritchie and the Linn
family for making a relative stranger like me feel so welcome.

This Is Pretty Simple...
Please tell ten friends…today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting
people to click on it daily to meet their quota of free food donated to abused
and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute (How about 20 seconds) to go
to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free, and
it doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors use the number of daily
visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for
advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to veryone you know.

THIS WEEK IN BLUES HISTORY

Big Bill Broonzy was born on June 26th, 1893 in Scott, MS. In terms of his
musical skill, the sheer size of his repertoire, the length and variety of his
career, as well as his influence on contemporaries and musicians who would
follow, Big Bill is among the most important figures in recorded blues history.
Among his hundreds of titles are standards like "All by Myself" and "Key to the
Highway." He was instrumental in the growth of the Chicago Blues sound, and his
travels abroad rank him as a leading blues ambassadors. Big Bill left behind a
huge legacy of recordings, including many sessions with the likes of John Lee
"Sonny Boy" Williamson, Tampa Red and many more. His solo output is even more
important and vast. If you don’t have any Big Bill in your collection, then it’s
not complete. When asked if Blues was truly "Folk" music, Big Bill replied,
"Hell, it’s ALL folk music, I ain't never heard no horse play music."
