!!! UPDATE !!!

First off, thank you to everyone who responded so far. It's very
encouraging, and frankly, i'm pleasantly surprised by the response.
There are 9 participants so far, and plenty of room left for
everyone. There are no limits to this project, except... time.

Which brings us to Second. The door remains open until midnight July
1. That should give everyone a chance to think about it, get a song
in mind, and let us kow that you're going to join in. Right now
there's enough space for everyone to do two tunes if you want. I'm
thinking of keeping this at one CD length (80 minutes max), but if
response takes off, no prob, we'll do two or more.

There are a lot of super talented people who love Ass Ponys and who
hang out around here. Just remember, talent is NOT a pre-requisite.
Whatever you want to do, however you want to do it, that's up to
you. The only things I'll do are assemble the performances, clean
them up digitally if necessary, balance sound levels, and burn them
to CDR. After that they go out to all participants first, then to
whoever might wanna hear this project. Participants get theirs
gratis; others will be on a trade/B&P basis. I hope to have case
insert art developed before sending everything out.

Third, be sure to let us know here. Drop a line to hbh@...
(fliprollem@... if it's easier for you from the Asslist) if you
haven't already. please include the following information:

- a name (simply for tracking, doesn't need to be your real name)
- an email address at which i can reliably contact you if there are
questions
- song title(s) you'll perform

Then, get yer stuff togetherish and record your AP tune(s). Carbon-
copy covers are cool, unusual or different perspectives of songs are
even cooler. Whatever and however you want to do it is cool. Get it
all down on cassette tape, digital audio tape, or CD as clearly as
possible, as balanced as possible, and with the least amount of
clipping and/or signal distortion as possible. For the most part,
what you hear on your master is how it's gonna sound on the final
CDR, so if it sounds really good on master, it'll sound really good
on the final version. Alas, the inverse of that also applies. If
you need help getting your stuff on tape and can make it to the Akron
Ohio area, drop me a line and I'll help you all I can.

Once all's recorded, write down some information to send along with
your music:

- song title(s)
- your name (or what name you want to be called on the final version)
- who played what instruments
- who sang
- recording method
- where you're located
- any other notes, information, jokes, anecdotes, cryptic messages,
photos, artwork, spare cash, Ferrari keys, or anything else you may
want to send along that you feel is pertinent to the scope of this
project.

Send it all to:

www.assponys.org
893 Anchor Drive
Akron OH 44319-2101

If you want your disk or tape back, please include sufficient postage
stamps to get it back to you.

That's about it. I'm sure I'll think of three other things once I
send this out. As always, suggestions, comments, feedback are
welcome. Please.

Happy music creation to all, and drop us a line if you have any
questions at all.

THANKS!

Oh, for the record, I'm looking at doing "Not Since Superman
Died," "Shoe Money," or maybe "Place Out There." I'll probably end
up doing none of those and go for the ten different versions
of "California Bingo."
