michael, the lyrics look great. i'm sure it was conscious on your
part... he does sing the word "man" between "i got the twenty"
anad "if you got the five." "man" is expendable in lyric
transcription at times, like the word "now" repeated so often at the
ends of lines in "smoke on the water," for example. I've often shied
away from perfroming this song in public because i get lost in the
rapid-fire list of names. Chuck has often interspersed various names
there in live performances.
thank you for assembling those! be sure to send us the link to your
site so we can link to you.
OK Folks, blindman has "death car $25." that doesn't mean that you
can't do it, too, if that's the one you had your heart set upon. but
darn it, DROP ME A LINE and get involved in this project TODAY! It's
time to get serious about this thang. Yup.
THANKS!!!!!!

shivering is the first step towards your destiny.....
Ok, I spent 4 hours trying different songs out and after being totally
frustrated trying to come up with an acoustic version of "Banlon
Shirt", I whimped out and ended up doing several versions of "Death
Car $25".
So, I guess this is my official declaration... I am taking "Death Car
$25"... I am like the dumb guy on Jepordy who takes the easy ones
first.
As a side note, I tried doing a google for the lyrics to "Death Car
$25" and nothing to be found, I will have to get a copy up and be the
first person on the internet to post them.

No deadline has been established. We're still growing in numbers! You
have time to get something together, fer sure. Once we get folks
amassed, we'll figger out who's doing what, and then we'll think about
setting a deadline. THANKS!

now that you mention it, yeah, 10 versions done differently would be pretty whack. cool idea.
so far i've had two responses plus myself. doesn't look like it's gonna fly. i'll try to push it for a couple more weeks... if i can get like 6 participants, each could do two tunes. we'll see what happens.

I went to see The National last Wednesday at The Khyber in Philly and
I wore my Ass Ponys tee shirt. My mate, Jacquie, and I were talking
with Matt Berninger before the show and he was very excited when he
noticed the shirt... Matt digs the Ass Ponys too!

shivering is the first step towards your destiny.....
well, as often happens with music-related on-line communities,
someone eventually gets the bright (yeah) idea of assembling a
tribute CD honoring the band/musicians that they hang around on line
to discuss and enjoy.
yeah, it's time for an Ass Ponys tribute CD project.
If you can play anything, sing anyhow, feel creative enough to bare
your soul in front of a listening mass of about 20 people, then
dammit, get yer chit together and start formulating an AP tune.
Record it however, the cleaner the better (amazing how well some
boomboxes do, for example), send me your tape or disk or whatever,
and i'll assemble it all for distribution to whoever wants it. this
ain't for profit or anything like that... it's a chance to get to
know each other a little better, to share some creativity (there are
some awesomely creative assheads out there), and to honor the Ass
Ponys in perhaps a most dishonorable way, heheheheh. chances are,
though, that tapes or whatever sent in won't be returned... postage
and all that, ya know? but we can work all that out later.
providing, of course, we get enough participants.
so waddya think, folks? ready to give it a try?
first phase would be to drop me an email stating which song/songs
you'd like to do, and maybe, how. that way we don't have a disk of
ten different parties doing ten different covers of "California
Bingo," if you catch my drift. I guess we'll burn bridges from
there....
so dust off your 6 strings, your tubas, your theremins, and your

Best info I've received today indicates that Ass Ponys WILL play at RBC
on Saturday, May 21. RBC (Rhythm and Blues Club, I Think) is located
at 1142 Main Street in Cincinnati, just about at the intersection of
12th and Main. Boomy hall... I caught a couple acts there at MPMF04.
Come on down and get yer yayas out and get yer Pony fix. Hope to see
y'all there.

you may be asking... why merch?
there are a lot of reasons. we get a considerable amount of mail
asking where to score Ass Ponys t-shirts. here ya go. we feel Ass
Ponys deserve some additional exposure and these items are ways to
spread it around. financially speaking, to support the site.
assponys.org has been on line over four years now with no outside
support. yours is appreciated!
any questions, please drop us a line. as always, feedback is also
welcome.
store's open, come on in!
yeah, sounds like someone in motor city got their wires crossed.
here's the link for the story at the Detroit News:

Scroll down until you see the club name "Old Miami."
HOWEVER...
The Detroit Free Press tells a different tale for that same night,
same club:
Quote:
The Old Miami
April 22: Euphoric Haze, Jerrycan, Vietnam Prom, My Left Arm, Larry
Bone Band
It looks like someone interposed "Larry Bone Band" and "Ass Ponys."
Easy mistake, I do it all the time.
I'm gonna call someone in Detroit as soon as I can find a number to
the Conference.

I talked to Bela at usedkids yesterday. They have a LOT of
Superloves on CD and vinyl in stock. I'm trying to nail down a
cassette copy, which i should have done a long time ago. I could be
worng, but i think MrS is the only AP album to be released in three
formats... cd, tape, and LP. Bela swears they have some cassettes
left but can't find 'em right now. You can find their phone number
at their web site:
http://www.usedkids.com
or drop them an email at
usedsales@...
These guys are good... I ordered on the 15th, they shipped on the 16th
and it arrived well packed and in mint condition today... it WAS mint,
I immediately soiled it with my monkeyboy hands so I could rip it to
the Archos for my portable listening enjoyment!

Same mix plus the bonus tracks.
For a "Field Guide to Identifying The Different Releases of _Mr.
Superlove_," go to the Albums page of the Discography section of
http://www.assponys.org The only pics we don't have are of it's eggs
and nest. ;)

Henry Cow tried that, didn't go over too well... now they
re-re-released "Leg End" with the ORIGINAL LP mix... actually, I think
BOTH mixes now are still in print...

was the Mr. Superlove that was reissued with two bonus tracks remixed?
Or is it the original mix, but with two bonus tracks tacked on?

$5 flat fee for shipping... priority mail... $14.99 for an out of
