Sekou Sylla was a principle dancer, acrobat, and musician with Les
Ballet Africains, the National Dance Company of the Republic of Guinea,
West Africa, until he relocated to Massachusetts in 1996. Sekou has
taught and performed all over the world including Africa, Australia,
Europe, Asia and North and South America. He currently teaches African
Dance at Mt. Holyoke College, Greenfield Community College in
Massachusetts and directs Bamidele Dancers and Drummers.

Mamady Keita became an initiate into the history and music of the
Manding at the age of seven by Karinkadjan Konde, an old Djembefola
(djembe player) of the village of Balandugu in Guinea, West Africa. A
djembe prodigy, Mamady became a soloist with the National Ballet of
Guinea, Ballet Djoliba, at the young age of 13. He went on several
world tours, eventually becoming artistic director of the ballet and
winning several awards. In 1988, Mamady moved to Brussels and in 1991
he founded the traditional percussion school, Tam Tam Mandingue. Mamady
has been the focus of four documentary films. He has recorded 9 albums,
authored an instructional book, and has recorded six instructional
videos. In high demand as an artist Mamady travels the world teaching
and performing.
