Summer Camp in North Georgia Needs a Djembe Drum Specialist!
URJ Camp Coleman is searching for a dedicated, enthusiastic and caring
person to serve as or Drumming Specialist this summer.
Camp Coleman is a Reform Jewish overnight camp that each summer serves
800 children from the southeastern United States . We are located in
the mountains of North Georgia- an extremely beautiful area. Even
though we are a Jewish camp, we are very open and accepting of people
from all backgrounds.
Drumming is an activity we offer as part of our overall arts program
It is an incredibly popular activity in which the kids love to
participate. We have djembe drums at camp and drumming has been
integrated into many parts of camp life, including the spiritual
aspects, like Shabbat services.
We see this activity as a hands-on means to teach Jewish values to our
campers- such as sacred listening, working together, supporting one
another and spirit.
Our campers range in age from 7 to 15 years old.
Our summer starts on June 10th and ends on August 3rd. Staff members
arrive at camp a week early (June 3rd) for staff orientation.
We can negotiate on compensation. It is important to keep in mind that
we are a non-profit summer camp, so the salary reflects this point. As
a staff member, our facilitator will get a place to stay and three
meals a day. Other benefits (time off, etc.) are standard, too.
If you are interested in talking to me further about our drumming
specialist position, I would love to set up a time to talk to you. If
you know of other people or highly-qualified students from your drum
circles or groups you have facilitated or worked with before, please
pass along the information.
Even helping us spread the word about our camp and this position would
be a big help!
Thanks so much!
