I'm writing to invite you to the New Orleans Dance Festival -
http://nodancefestival.org - my college ensemble is going, all the
way from New England, and we're really excited not only because of
the program, but because the festival folks are connecting the
artists with many New Orleans community groups that are still trying
to recover from Katrina.
So in addition to rhythm and dance with amazing artists, there is an
active benefit for the community. If you're interested in going and
need financial assistance, please feel free to contact the

From the home page: Study dance in New Orleans at the 12th Annual
New Orleans Dance Festival located on the campus of Tulane
University. The 2008 New Orleans Dance Festival features: African
dances from Ghana and Congo Afro-Caribbean dances from Cuba and
Haiti Contemporary Modern dance traditions blended with African, Hip-
Hop Identified as the Latin influenced Caribbean gateway, the
African presence of Congo Square, and the Americanized birthplace of
jazz, the multi-cultural diversity of New Orleans offers dance
enthusiasts, an inspirational setting to explore Afro-based dance
traditions. Internationally recognized artists/dancers/teachers
present a variety of mixed-level classes to individuals age 15 and
up. Classes focus not only on technique and performance but include
the study of African and Caribbean dance traditions from a
historical, cultural, and religious perspective.
