Join West African drum and performance fun in Atlanta this weekend:
April 4-6.
Friday night, 11 p.m. at the East Side Lounge at on Flat Shoals in
East Atlanta features worldbeat with a DJ, PLUS two live interludes
of Guinean drum and dance performance with Aly Camara and Mamady
Sano. If you have never seen Mamady dance, you have not really seen
Guinean dance. Son of the renowned director and choreographer of Les
Merveilles d'Afrique, Merveilles de Guinee and Les Ballets Africains,
Mohamed Kemoko Sano, Mamady dances as if there is no floor under his
feet (and he can drum too!). Aly Camara is an accomplished
percussionist who plays lead drum for Les Merveilles de Guinee and
has been performing professionally since age 11.
WORKSHOPS:
INSTRUCTOR FARA TOLNO: Drummer and dancer from Guinea, West Africa
