Atlanta Drum & Dance Conference July 11-13   Message List

Hi all,
The WAH WAH 4th Annual African Dance & Drum Conference July 11-13,
2003 at the College Park City Auditorium 3631 Main Street Atlanta GA
30337.

With all of these classes being held in Atlanta this weekend, we will
not be holding a drum class on Sunday at Earthshaking. We encourage
you to check out these instructors, to observe at a dance class or
two ($5) and if you can go to the performance on Saturday night it is
a great opportunity to see the drumming and dancing in action!

Classes include:
FRIDAY
6:15-7:45pm Djembe drum w/ M'Bemba Bangoura
M'Bemba is a wonderful, skilled instructor from Guinea with a very
easygoing personality.

8:00-9:30pm Guinea dance w/ Mouminatou Camara
Mouminatou is an extremely energetic instructor. Her classes are well
worth watching or participating in!

SATURDAY WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
8:30-10:00am Djembe drum w/ Karamba Diabate
Karamba is another talented drummer from Guinea whose class will be
well worth attending.

10:15-12:45pm Guinea dance w/ Alseny Soumah
If you haven't seen male dancers from Guinea, Alseny's class is a
great opportunity to observe or participate.

1:00-2:30pm Djembe drum w/ M'Bemba Bangoura
See the above notes on M'Bemba.

4:30-6:00pm Guinea dance w/ Mouminatou Camara
See the above notes on Mouminatou.

Saturday - Concert is at the College Park Auditorium. Performance
doors open at 8:00 showtime 8:30pm
Concert Tickets Adults $15 advance, $20 at the door. Children $5 and
under 10 years old FREE!

SUNDAY WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
10:00-11:30am Djembe w/ Mohamed Diaby
11:45--1:15pm Guinea dance w/ Alseny Soumah

1:30-3:00pm Dundun & Sangba w/ Ali Diabate
If you have wanted to learn about dundun or sangba, Alisco is the man
to see - he is one of the best, and he has a great sense of humor to
boot.

3:30-5:00pm Guinea dance w/ Yamoussa Soumah
Yamoussah has performed with Les ballets africains, ballet djoliba
and is known for being the number one acrobatic dancer from Guinea.
He is an extremely patient teacher, and if you have never tried dance
before he is a great teacher to learn from.

5:15-6:45pm Djembe drum w/ Karamba Diabate

There may be some other classes as well - if you go to the event you
can get the complete details.

Workshop fees:
$12 advance $15 at door Children $ 3 advance $ 5 at door

Please let me know if you have any questions - we will resume our
regular Sunday classes on July 20, and stay tuned for details of the
Atlanta Fa Nyere Fa conference the last weekend in July!
