Hi all,
We figure that on the 4th of July holiday there may not be a huge
contingent expecting to find a drum class at the Southeast YMCA. So we
decided to throw a little drum class party and anyone who wants to
come to the class or the party or both is welcome! (That means anybody
and EVERYBODY is welcome, whether you have never been to class before,
haven't come in a long time, or have been coming every week!).

Class will be held at the usual 12:30 pm start time, but will occur at
our house in Stone Mountain (directions below).

Class will be followed at 2 pm by an African-influenced barbecue
(including Chicken, Goat and some burgers, plus an African rice dish,
soft drinks, and some beer but since I do not know how many are
coming, feel free to BYOB). We have huge, beautiful pool and party
space to hang out and have fun. That will be followed by some
acoustic music and singing, and we will probably learn some new songs.

If you are seeking fireworks in the evening, we are a 5 minute drive
from Stone Mountain Park and about 15 minutes from downtown Decatur.
We will be happy to give you directions to either.

This is a VERY casual event - please don't be shy to come, even if you
have never come to one of our previous events. We are having a fun
day for ourselves and want to share it with anyone interested in
African music or culture. We also have a number of extra drums
available if you do not happen to have one.

Logistics:
Fee (I need to charge a small party fee to help me cover the cost of
food and supplies):
CLASS AND PARTY: $15
CLASS ONLY: if you are just staying for the class, it will be the
usual $12 fee for class or you can use one of your pre-paid 5 classes
for $50.
PARTY ONLY: $10 adults, children free. You are welcome to come when
the drum class starts and watch the class, or come later in the afternoon.

DIRECTIONS: Our address is 2006 Stoneleigh Drive, Stone Mountain, GA
You can mapquest/mapblast/mapsonus it, but here are some simple
directions:
Coming from 285 on the East side of town, take I-78 East toward Stone
Mountain. Take exit 4: Mountain Industrial Boulevard. Turn left off
the exit onto Mountain Industrial. Follow Mtn Ind for about a mile to
Hugh Howell Rd. (There is a BP on your right and Wachovia on your
left). Turn right on Hugh Howell. Our street is about 1.5 miles on
your right. After you go through one traffic light, Stoneleigh Drive
will be your second right. We are about 10 houses up on the right. Do
not look at the street numbers on your left - they do not help at all!
I will probably put a bright colored african cloth on our mailbox,
which is a big stone pillar. You cannot see the house from the street
- only a whole lot of trees. You will know if you have passed our
house because ours is the last before you start to see enormous, brand
new, did I say very large, houses pretty close to the street.

ABBREVIATED VERSION: Take I-285 to I-78E. Take Exit 4 and turn left on
Mountain Industrial Blvd. Turn right on Hugh Howell. Turn Right on
Stoneleigh Drive. 10th house on the right.
