FILLING IN WITH THE JIMMIE JOHNSON BAND
Jimmie is without a drummer this weekend so I'll be filling in for their show at The Bartlesville Osage Million Dollar Elm Casino this Saturday night, Sept 8th. Show starts at 9pm and ends at 1am.
Jimmie has put together a great band and I'm excited to have been asked to play with them. On the keyboard is the legendary John Galley who has played with many big names in the music business including Leon Russell on many of his biggest hits. On bass guitar is Don Wood, who has played with Medicine Show, Stoney LaRue and even a short stint with Hell or High Water! Don currently plays with The Dustin Pittsley Band as well. Mark Lacey on Guitar who also played with Stoney LaRue as part of The Organic Boogie band. We were contacted today and asked to perform with legendary act The Misfits at the Cain's Ballroom on Monday, November 5! This is going to be an unbelievable show, as this will be The Misfits 30th year anniversary and it's not known if they'll be back out after this, so you just can't miss this one!!
This next tidbit of info is very important - PLEASE BUY YOUR TICKETS TO THE MISFITS SHOW FROM DOWN FOR FIVE!! SPENT TIME IN THE RECORDING STUDIO LAST WEEK!!!
I laid down some drum tracks this past weekend in OKC for a new friend of mine Chris Robison. Some of you may know him, he was the lead singer for a band called Burning Theory. Chris has written some great tunes! He is getting ready to go to Nashville to have a go at the music business and needed a good quality demo to take with him.
I made the drive to OKC having never met Chris. He had only sent me some audio of him playing his tunes on an acoustic guitar through e-mail. I liked the tunes well enough to agree to make the trip.
I went in last Friday night and got everything set up and started laying down tracks on Saturday morning. We had initially planned on getting 6 tracks done, but in the end only had time to do 3. Hell or High Water was scheduled to play in Sand Springs at the Casino that night so, unfortunately I had to leave early.
I had a good time learning and recording his material and I'm really glad I agreed to do it, even though I was extremely tired from the busy weekend. I was able to get some rest Sunday afternoon and felt much better after that. I haven't heard the recording yet but I'm sure it's going to turn out great. I'll keep you guy's posted on Chris and his new demo as I find out more.

DOWN FOR FIVE OPENING FOR NATIONAL ACT!!!
We are excited to announce that Down For Five will be opening for national recording artist Rhino Bucket on Friday, September 28 at Torchy's Two Bucks in Tulsa, OK.
Both Rhino Bucket and Down For Five recently played the mainstage at Rocklahoma and are once again teaming up for a night of kick ass music, Rocklahoma style!
Rhino Bucket, featuring former Kix guitarist Brian "Damage" Forsythe, established itself as a no-apologies, hard rock band in the late 80s that was part of the then exploding Hollywood scene and continues to tour the US relentlessly.
Rhino Bucket has an impressive list of accomplishments, including having a song featured on the hit movie "Wayne's World" soundtrack and releasing 3 albums in 16 months on Acetate Records. We wanted to express one more time our sincere thanks and appreciation to each of you who voted for us at jpotmusic.com and made it possible for us to play the mainstage at this year's Rocklahoma - it was truly the experience of a lifetime. We are also grateful to those individuals who got up early in the day to catch our set on Saturday - we appreciated the show of support immensely!
We are now set to resume writing more new material and look forward to seeing you at future events. Again, the band thanks everyone who made this dream a reality for us - we won't soon forget it!
