      We are playing The Post this weekend! "Book'em Dan-O" on Friday and "Hell or High Water" on Saturday! We are real excited about helping turn this bar around! The owners of The Solo Club (Nick and Gena) just bought it and they are definitely putting in the effort to make this place out of the ordinary. Just look what they have done with The Solo, it's one of the coolest places in town now. So I'm sure they'll do the same with The Post! This won't be your grandpa's Hitchin' Post for very long! Come help us make this place great!!!

The Hitchin' Post in Dewey is the best, bar none

Set in the heart of Dewey, the Hitchin’ Post has been a late night spot for fun-loving folks over the years.  Many generations of thrill-seekers have headed down to this tavern looking for a drink and a good time.
The Hitchin’ Post is managed by Spartan Management, LLC, the same individuals that operate the Solo Club. Since the Solo Club has been very successful, the management team already has an established set of standards for the Post to live up to. They decided to open the Post’s doors to the hordes of social gathering people in Dewey and Bartlesville with a new twist. The premises will receive some more “lipstick and rouge” by Gena Rutledge, President of Spartan Management. The staff and patrons are looking forward to the changes and the weekly entertainment. The Post touts an inviting, entertaining and accommodating atmosphere.

While the Post has the cozy, legitimately Oklahoman bar look, nobody comes to the Post to sip on a quiet glass of Chardonnay and discuss the current state of the stock market. You’ll be more likely to find a friendly bartender dishing up frosty drafts of beer and sliding scotchs, whiskey sours and Bloody Marys to a lively and diverse group of individuals. This is a very surprising yet refreshing aspect of the Hitchin’ Post. You never know whom you’ll meet. They have their fair share of regulars like every bar, but there’s a nicely-mixed crowd. You’ll find people from surrounding areas as well as Dewey and Bartlesville residents, young and old. In fact, the Hitchin’ Post is perhaps the only night spot in this city where, on a given night, one is equally likely to run into a 73-year-old Dewey retiree as a 25-year-old single.
The management team has a love for the American watering-hole as a community place for people to let loose a little and have fun. That is what the Post is all about.

People head to the Post for a few drinks and the chance to play a game of pool, but the new Hitchin’ Post is a bit more stylish than its predecessor. In fact, it’s surprisingly hip for a bar tucked away in Dewey. However, hip and Dewey are two words which sit uneasily beside one another, but the folks at the Post seem to be the type of people up to the challenge. Already, the team has delivered the pop-rock licks of Admiral Twin (with no cover charge!) on Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26. The members of Admiral Twin (Mark Carr- bass guitar, vocals; Jarrod Gollihare- drums, vocals; John Russell- guitar, vocals) are veterans of the Tulsa music scene and rocked the mic at the Post to promote their 2003 CD, Creatures of Bread & Wine. If you missed this show, then keep an eye out for the next show to hit the stage at the Post. You just might hear and see the next big thing!

In fact, the Hitchin’ Post’s sister bar, the Solo Club metaphorically gave birth to the musical trio, Hell or High Water. Ever since their appearances at the Solo, the band has been making a name for itself in Bartlesville by makin’ the rounds at all the local taverns. Hell or High Water consists of Steve Sutherland on acoustic guitar, Doyle Speer also on acoustic guitar and Carl Lowe on drums. Look for these guys at the Post on Saturday, July 17 and Friday, July 30. On Friday, July 16th, Book‘em Dan-O will be taking the stage.

On Thursdays from 8 p.m. to midnight, head down to belt out your favorite tunes at the karaoke bar. Jeris Ford, formerly of the Bopcats, will be there to keep the mic warm, make your sides split and wow you with her vocals. Join in the karaoke fun and sing a few yourself. Jeris, the Entertainment Diva, boasts that Dewey has a lot of raw talent, “You’re lucky if you have one or two that can really sing, but Dewey has really surprised me with all of their hidden talent.“
According to bartender, Cindy Jones, the Post is, "all the culture, all the townies, and the all the exuberance of this area" packed into "one sociable experience."

Veleta Chacon, also a bartender at the Post, adds "This [The Hitchin’ Post] is a low-key place to hang out with laid-back clientele and original live entertainment," and, she adds, "no one hassles you here. The Post is a place where you can be yourself."

Looking for a new hang out? The Hitchin’ Post is the place for you. This bar has a great atmosphere, great games like shuffleboard and pool and live entertainment throughout the week. There’s a true community vibe at Hitchin’ Post, nothing fancy…no flashing lights…no sensory overload. Just real folks relaxing and enjoying themselves. Their hours are Monday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Tuesday through Saturday, Noon to 2 a.m. The bar is closed on Sundays, of course. The Hitchin’ Post is located at 815 N. Delaware next to the Dewey Hotel. Give it a try. You’ll go home with a few interesting stories to tell.

       Ty Speers and Nate Woodworth's 2nd annual Big Ass Independence Day Party on July 3rd!!!

     When your having as much fun as we all did that night, it's easy to lose sight of the amount of work and preparation that goes into putting something of that caliber together! Ty and Nate printed up some thank you fliers for everyone that showed up and chipped in whatever they could to make this thing happen.
