We are playing at The Boiler Room in Denton Texas this Friday night and from what I understand Sony Red Records is coming out to see us! Never hurts to have more than one offer on the table!! We are taking the bus to both gigs this weekend and I also found out we are taking it to New York and Pennsylvania as well. Pretty excited about that! Anyway, gotta run! I'll fill you in more next week.
We appreciate all your support and hope to see you at a show soon! Also, we could use any help you can offer to help spread the word about our shows. Put us on your top friends, re-post our bulletins, fliers and videos. We sincerely thank you!

THC AT THE HOGWASH IN OKLAHOMA CITY THIS FRIDAY!!!
THC will be playing an intimate show at The Hogwash Cafe in Oklahoma City this Friday September 25th. The Hogwash is located just North of 10th on Council and weather permitting we will be playing on the outside stage. Hope to see you there!
THC UPDATE!
The Kansas City trip went well, we had a really good time and I got to catch up with an Aunt, Uncle and Cousin I hadn't seen in quite some time while I was there. The record company flew in from New York to see us again and I think things went well. We weren't playing for the biggest crowd that night, and I think we were all a little worried about that, but Derek assured us that was not what he was looking for, in fact he said before he signed Pantera he witnessed some shows where they were only playing to a few people. Hard to imagine that now!
Anyway, after KC we headed out to Wyoming for three shows. The first being in Casper on my birthday. T-Roy from Casper's Rock 96.7 did an interview with us and shot some video of us in the studio. Here's a link to that http://www.rock967online.com/onair_page.php?id=7 We had driven all night to get there and Big Dad Ritch was crashed at the hotel so me and the boys rolled out of bed to save the day. We had no idea they were going to be shooting video(at least I didn't anyway), surprise, surprise!
Had a great show and our new friend Cory showed up and brought us the hugest bottle of Jagermeister! The elevation was already messing with us so we decided to wait and pop it open on Saturday night when we we could fully enjoy it. We had a blast though and headed out for Gillette the next morning.
Gillette was a good time! A lot of the people that came to our show Thursday drove all the way to see us Friday and Saturday night too! We had great time in Gillette and since we didn't have to tear down our gear Friday night or set it back up on Saturday we decided to take a day-trip over to Deadwood, South Dakota in the Black Hills(Near Sturgis, where we will also be playing next year). It's a famous outlaw town so THC fit right in. Deadwood is the place where Wild Bill Hickok was murdered and remains the final resting place for Hickok and Calamity Jane as well.
All in all, it was another fun and successful run! We had a good time in all the cities we visited and we are looking forward to seeing many more and meeting many more great people along the way! New dates are getting added from California all the way to New York, Southern Florida and everything in between so look for us to be coming to your town soon!
Oh, about the Pedal to the Metal tour with Mudvayne, Static-X etc. The OKC show turned out to be the last official date on the tour. I guess Mudvayne and/or Static-X had a few straggling dates after OKC but everyone else went their seperate ways. So unfortunately there was no chance for us to tag along. I'm not sure if the dismembering of the tour had anything to do with Zakk Wylde falling ill or not. We definitely felt honored to have been called in to fill a slot for Black Label Society though and we hope to be able to work with them in the future.
We appreciate all your support and hope to see you at a show soon! Also, we could use any help you can offer to help spread the word about Texas Hippie Coalition and our shows. Put us on your top friends, re-post our bulletins, fliers and videos. We sincerely thank you!

From what I understand, Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society has had some medical problems that has caused them to have to cancel the rest of the dates on their tour. We were asked to fill in a spot on the show in OKC this Wednesday Sept 9th, with the possibility of us finishing the tour dates out. We don't know if we'll get the rest of the dates but we hope so.
DDRUM SPONSORSHIP
I forgot to mention in my last e-mail that the representative from ddrums did fly out to Ride For Dime in Dallas and meet up with me and we had a great conversation. He said he liked my Ludwig kit and agreed it is a great kit. But he said maybe it's time that classic kit stayed safe at home where I wouldn't have to worry about something happening to it on the road. He assured me that if I decided to play ddrums and anything broke on the road he could have a replacement shipped overnight to my next gig. So, long story short, it turns out I will most likely be getting a one-off custom painted kit. I pretty excited about it! We are working out the details and I'm trying to figure out a paint scheme. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, I would love your input.
We appreciate all your support and hope to see you at a show soon! Also, we could use any help you can offer to help spread the word about Texas Hippie Coalition and our shows. Put us on your top friends, re-post our bulletins, fliers and videos. We sincerely thank you!

Playing Tonight with TJ McFarland At Bartlesville Casino!
Just booked a last minute gig with TJ McFarland(Nashville/Tulsa) and Don Morris(Former Dwight Yokham and Current Red Dirt Rangers Bass Player) at the Bartlesville Million Dollar Elm Casino. We go on at 9pm and there's no cover! (21 & up only)
THC UPDATE-THC UPDATE-THC UPDATE
Okay, where do I start? So many incredible things have happened since my last e-mail.
We played The Rock Theater in OKC on Aug 1st to a great crowd. We had a few days off till we left for Florida so we had a little get-together after the show. Lots o' fun!
All the rest of the guy's left for Texas that night except for me and Big Dad so we had a few days to hang out and torment the Norman, Oklahoma City area. And that we did!
We left for Florida on Aug 5th and stayed the night in Mobile, Alabama(where the southern drawl is just right) then finished the rest of the drive to Clearwater, Florida the next day.
This is where it starts getting good... As you probably know, the guy's are sponsored by Dean guitars. The Dean reps set us up with a tour of the factory in Tampa that next day and it was awesome!(also awesome was the UPS dude driving by honking and throwing us the horns high as we were walking in, I love my job:) I got to see some custom guitars and paint schemes not released to the public yet including the new Dime O' Rust paint job. Got to hold Dave Mustaine's(Megadeth) new un-finished custom guitar and Leslie West's of the band Mountain(Known best for the song Mississippi Queen) as well as a few other custom pieces.
I ended up getting a tour of the drum room and got to talk to the rep a bit about their products and found out most of the staff was coming to our show that night. I was a little nervous, knowing this is the rep that works with Vinnie Paul and other influences of mine and I knew he would be watching closely.
I arrived at the venue early in hopes of getting a few minutes to talk to the Dean/ddrum guys about my set up and more about their products. I was able to get quite a bit of time with them which settled my nerves a bit.
We played and I could feel the eyes, thank god we had a decent night and there were no mishaps(except for me breaking a $300+ cymbal, which sucked!). I caught a glimpse of the drum rep air drumming along with me which made me feel pretty dang good! I talked to him for a second after the show and he assured me we would be talking more when he flew down to Dallas for Ride For Dime about a week later.
From there we headed to Ft. Myers, Florida to play The Reserve Cigar & Wine Bar. Cool place and cool people. They took good care of us. I had some close friends come out that I hadn't seen in quite a few years and we had a blast! Some new friends of ours threw us a party in a high-rise condo on the beach that night. SO much fun!
We had a couple days to kill before we had to head back to Oklahoma to play with Saliva so we decided to take a vacation for a couple of days at a resort that one of my friends manages on Captiva Island. This place was unbelievable! We had a 2 story 3 bedroom suite with a balcony on the 5th floor! We were surrounded by beautiful water on all sides, only a bridge connected us to the main land. Pools everywhere. It was like it's own little city. Jimmy Buffett has stayed there and Daryl Hall from Hall & Oates had just stayed there not long ago as well. It was wonderful! Thanks again Denise!!
This is where we started getting tired and worn out... We had been baking in the Florida sun and heat for 5 days and then had to drive straight through(27 hours) to play with Saliva and Smile Empty Soul at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma on Aug 13th. We made it, but we were pretty beat.
We had a great show and a great turn-out though! The Saliva guys were super-nice and seemed to really enjoy our set. The drummer(Paul Crosby), who is also sponsored by ddrums, approached us after the show and wanted our contact info cause they wanted to get us on the bill with them down in Dallas the following Monday.
We were supposed to leave that night right after the show but we had electrical problems with our trailer lights, so we stayed till daylight and headed toward Lubbock for a headlining show at Tequila Jungle which is always a good time. We were a little late getting there due to our stop in OKC to get our electrical problem fixed but we made it. Our tour manager/merch dude, Rev and Roadie/Guitar Tech/Drum Tech extraordinaire Zac dropped us off at the hotel so we could rest a little and get cleaned up while they went and set up our gear and merch booth. You guys rock!
After the show we loaded up and headed for another all night drive to Acoma, New Mexico to play with Queensryche, Jani Lane(Warrant) and Ratt! We pulled in just in time to see our band logo and picture on the big Jumbo-tron billboard(to the best of my knowledge, I'm pretty sure that never gets old).
Once again we were wiped out from the drive and hit the hotel room while Zac worked his a$$ off unloading and setting up. I got restless, couldn't sleep and decided to go check out the stage and help Zac a little. Ran into Jani Lane and his drummer, super-nice guys. We played right before Jani Lane and it was still daylight. It was an outside stage with a nice view of the mountains and the weather was perfect! Quite a nice change from Florida's humid heat.
We played our show and got to hang out for Jani Lane and most of Ratt's show before we had to take off for yet another all-night drive to Dallas to play Ride For Dime 5.
Since this was the last all night drive of a long tiring string of gigs throughout 3/4 the width of the United States we were tired! And with it being a big prestigious gig with Huge names on the bill our management knew we wouldn't have a place to rest and relax while at the venue so they rented us a nice big Prevost tour bus to kick back in and to take the ride back to the management offices in Oklahoma City in later that night so we could get some rest in the bunks.
Ride For Dime was Incredible! Rock stars everywhere and we were right in the middle of it! Souless Intent and Bound went on before us and they killed it! We had a great show to an enthusiastic crowd to say the least, with rock stars packing the back and sides of the stage while we were playing. Very intense feeling, knowing that this was all put together for the love of Dimebag Darrell and everyone there was thinking it and feeling it just like we were.
After we finished our set they had an interlude of a Pantera medley being played on guitar while the stage was being prepared for The All-Star Jam. The All-Star Jam kicked off and it was awesome! Ace Frehly(Kiss), Vinnie Paul(Pantera, Damageplan, Hellyeah), Corey Taylor(Stone Sour, Slipknot), Aaron Lewis(staind), Bobzilla(Hellyeah) as well as members of Shinedown, Machine Head, Testament, Buckcherry, Snot, God Forbid and Many more did Pantera songs and it all ended with Rock N' Roll All Night by Kiss, and all the performers got on stage with Ace and the boys(including myself) and sang background vocals!
SO MUCH FUN IT FELT LIKE A DREAM!!! I MEAN, REALLY! WHO CAN SAY THEY HAVE BEEN ON STAGE WITH ACE FREHLY AND SANG BACKGROUND VOCALS TO A KISS SONG? NOT MANY I'M SURE! IT'S JUST CRAZY!
At the end of the night we were supposed to jump in the bus and head to OKC but I kept hearing that there was an all star party at Dime's house and I wanted in! I found out everyone had decided to go to The Clubhouse instead(Pantera's strip club). At that point I didn't care about my fancy smancy bus ride home anymore, I wanted to hang with the Rock Stars so I decided I was going to find a different way back home and while I was trying to figure it all out the bus pulled off and left me :)> I had to call them and have them drop my luggage at the hotel before they headed out. I was on a mission! Long story short, I ended up at the Clubhouse that night hanging with Vinnie Paul and the rest of the performers and got lucky finding a ride home the next day from my buddy Marco, Thanks Man!!!
Paul Crosby(Saliva's Drummer) text me the next day and said they tried to get us on the bill that night but the promoter had the bill full. I heard through management the reason it didn't happen is because we were scheduled to play at Tree's with Sevendust already and they didn't want us playing so close together. (I could be wrong but I think we had to cancel the Sevendust gig to play the Pedal to the Metal tour mentioned below) :/
The next gig was in Tolono, Illinois at Radmakers Rock n Roll Tavern with our good friends Boomslang! We had a blast, it was kinda like the last gig on a 21 day tour cause I had only been home for a day or maybe two in that whole time, so it was nice to cut loose and have a good time and not have to worry about an all night drive or a big gig the next night. As it stands now I think I have been home a total of 4 days since Aug 1st, I'm loving it!

I haven't had a chance to get caught up on my e-mails/calendars and such. I will send out another e-mail sometime soon and let you all know all the incredible things that have happened since I last wrote to you.
I have had a lot of people asking, so I just wanted to let everyone know...
THC will be back at The Rock Theater once again this Saturday night Aug 1st with special guests Lure, Kill The Silence, Another Round and Dead Set. If you haven't been to this venue you should come check it out! VERY cool place!
We will also be doing a show with Saliva in Miami, Oklahoma on August 13th at Buffalo Run Casino!
Okay, like I promised, here's a quick rundown of what's been happening since the last time we played Oklahoma City on June 18th. We were supposed to be opening for Michael Schenker Group(Scorpions Guitar Player) but they didn't show for some reason so we got bumped up and headlined the show.
Then on to Tulsa the next night to play the Flytrap. What can I say other than wow! We really appreciated all your support on that one and it was great seeing all the familiar faces!
We left for Illinois that night and drove all night to make it to our show at Slang Metal Fest III (the next night June 20th) with our boy's Boomslang. What an after-party at the hotel bar and in the rooms and hallways! I still can't believe the cops didn't get called! We ended up on stage at the hotel bar after hi-jacking instruments from the band that was playing. It was fun to say the least!
We were supposed to have a gig in Chicago and one in Allentown to keep us on the road to Pittsburgh but they fell through for some reason and it was cheaper to come home than to stay in a hotel until the 26th so we woke up early and did a photo shoot for Notorious Cigars looking like we just rose from the dead and made the hella long drive back home beat up and hung-over.
Only to find out after making it home that the Radio station in Pittsburgh wanted us two days early to do some P.R. stuff so I (I say "I" because the Texas Boys didn't get to go home, they stayed in OKC at the management offices) got one day home before we headed almost right back where we had just come from. (I got to see Michael Winslow doing stand-up while I was home though 'the black dude on Police Academy that makes all the noises' and he was AWESOME!)
We finally hit Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after what seemed like forever and man, it was beautiful! It was really cool coming through the tunnel to see the skyline of downtown Pittsburgh and the three rivers running through it all. Pretty breathtaking! (Especially from atop Mt. Washington where I took the cog railroad to the top to get a spectacular view.)
First thing we did when we got to the hotel, like normal, was hit the pool. Then later that day we were shuttled to an "in-store" meet & greet at Eides Music in downtown Pittsburgh. Then we were off to a huge biker rally to make an appearance. There was a radio station who was doing a live remote, they played some THC and announced that we were there and would be playing The Hard Rock Cafe the next night. Checked out some bikes, had some dinner and split back to the hotel.
The next day we had an early lobby call. We had an acoustic performance and meet & greet set up at the Guitar Center in Pittsburgh. As soon as we finished up there we were off to Heinz Field to get a private tour of the arena. Even though I'm not a sports fan it was pretty cool to see the inner workings of things on such a big scale. We went everywhere, from the press box, to the private suites and even into the Steelers locker room.
Then it was time for load-in at The Hard Rock. We got set up then we were shuttled back to the hotel to get showered up before the show. Doc Roc from Infernalradio.com was at the show broadcasting live "world-wide" but from what I understand they didn't get the whole show, due to server problems of some sort. Regardless, we had a good time and met a lot of great people. It truly amazes me how far people drive or fly to see us sometimes. Last time we played in Denton, TX someone flew in from Florida and in Pittsburgh we had a car load drive in from Canada!
We left Pittsburgh the next morning and drove all night. I made it home around 7 or 8am the next day(the rest of the boys still had two hours to go, to get to the office in OKC) I was home for one day again before we headed out. This time we had a show in OKC at the Diamond Ballroom before we headed out for our South Texas dates the next day.
We got to San Antonio on July 1st, a day early. We looked forever for a cheap hotel to get us by for the night. We found what I'd like to refer to as a "Crack Motel" and stayed there after switching some rooms around because of a stench coming from one of the rooms. We got some much needed sleep and decided since we already had toughed it out that night, we were going to just save some money and tough it out again in the same spot. We paid for the rooms only to have the manager say we couldn't park our trailer in the fire zone. So basically we were kicked out of the Crack Motel! It was a blessing in disguise though, because we ended up in a MUCH nicer place with a pool, hot-tub and a work-out room and it was only about a mile from the venue. The venue and crowd were great, we had a great time in San Antone!
We got to Beaumont and ran into an old friend of the guys at the venue, who used to play drums for our friends Pumpjack. The dude owned a metal club there and invited us over to his bar after the show. We stayed till the wee hours of the morning and had a great time!
Now I'm trying to remember whether we hit the beach immediately(which is our normal procedure when we get close to the ocean) or if I'm thinking of last time we were there. Oh well...
We played Houston on the 4th of July and didn't see one firework the whole night but wow, what a great show! The crowd was on fire(so-to-speak) and we were loving every minute of it. Houston has been great both times I have played there with THC!
After returning home from Houston we had almost two weeks until our next show which was in Miami, Oklahoma at The Buffalo Bike Run - Buffalo Run Casino on July 17th, where the world-famous daredevil motorcyclist Trigger Gumm jumped over us "On Fire" and broke the world record! The next night Gary Allen headlined the show and we played the after-party. Some of the other bands we made fast friends with and had a good time listening to and partying with over the weekend were Chasing Dixie, The Shon Brothers and The Chad Emmert Band.
Well, in short, that's about it for what's been going on lately. We do have some really great shows coming up soon, all over the place, with some great bands and we hope you'll try to make it out if you're anywhere close.
This Saturday August 1st, as mentioned above, we will be in Oklahoma City at the Rock Theater.
Then we leave Wednesday Aug 5th to play some dates down in Florida over the weekend which I'm pretty excited about. (I love white-sand-beaches and palm trees!)
We leave Florida and head back to our very own Miami(Miami, Oklahoma) to play a show on August 13th with Saliva and Smile Empty Soul!
We head to Lubbock after that to play at Tequila Jungle on August 14th, then on to Acoma, New Mexico to play a big show with Queensryche, Ratt, Jani Lane(Warrant) and When Darkness Falls. More info at http://www.skycity.com/Entertainment/
Then straight from there to Ride For Dime in Dallas, Texas on Aug 16th!
Hosted by Jose Mangin with appearances from Ace Frehly, Corey Taylor of Stone Sour and Slipknot, Aaron Lewis of Staind as well as members of Shinedown, Machine Head, Testament, Buckcherry, Snot and many more! The show will also feature performances by Souless Intent, Bound and Texas Hippie Coalition.
We have a few days off after that then we're off to Tolono, Illinois to blow it up with our buds Boomslang at Radmaker's Rock N' Roll Tavern!
Then we're off to a huge festival in Algona Iowa. Sharing the stage with names you wouldn't believe including George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Candlebox, Sevendust, Saving Abel, Eve 6, Tantric, Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden, Lillian Axe and more!
After that I'm sure some dates will fill in between but we'll be in Casper, Wyoming on my Birthday, September 17th then Gillette, Wyoming on the 18th and 19th.
Denton, Texas at The Boiler Room on October 9th then back at Choctaw Casino in Pocola, Oklahoma on Halloween Night!
Hope that was a good enough summary of what's been happening and what's coming up.
We appreciate all your support and hope to see you at a show soon! Also, we could use any help you can offer to help spread the word about Texas Hippie Coalition and our shows. Put us on your top friends, re-post our bulletins, fliers and videos. We sincerely thank you!

THC LIVE BROADCAST ON INFERNAL ROCK RADIO FROM THE HARD ROCK CAFE IN PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA!!!
Hey everyone, just got back to the hotel from making and appearance with THC at a bike rally here in Pittsburgh. Things are going really well so far, we got news that our show at The Hard Rock Cafe may actually sell out, all in advance! Pretty crazy! And it will be broadcast live and uncut at www.infernalrockradio.com Here's all the details as listed online...
Texas Hippie Coalition will be performing live at the Hard Rock Cafe! The Kings of Red Dirt Metal invade Pittsburgh this Friday, June 26th.
Presented by Donnie Lawless Entertainment/10th Street Productions, the concert will broadcast live worldwide on Metal Shop 101, hosted by Doc Rock via http://www.infernalrockradio.com at 9:30pm. Guest bands include Order of Nine, Sage, and Jeremy Levine.
Formed in 2004, Texas Hippie Coalition are a 5 piece Southern hard rock band from Denison, Texas, led by lead singer Big Dad Ritch and produced by multi-platinum record producer David Prater. The full length debut CD, 'Texas Pride', is now sold in combination with a
DVD featuring HD videos of "Pissed Off and Mad About It" and "Leavin".
Prior to Friday night's concert, Texas Hippie Coalition will host a meet and greet at Eides Entertainment on Thursday, June 25th. Native Pittsburgh metal band, Order of Nine, will also take part in the festivities. Interviews from this event will broadcast live on Doc Rock's Metal Shop 101 between 5pm - 7pm.
Also on June 25th, shortly following the meet & greet, Texas Hippie Coalition will make an appearance at the Hard Rock Cafe Pittsburgh as part of the Pittsburgh version of School Of Rock at 7:30pm.
Learn more about Texas Hippie Coalition and Infernal Rock Radio by visiting the following links.
And here's another article from Impulse Music I found while looking for the other one...
Hailing from the Red River Valley comes the new southern metal band the “TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION aka T.H.C.†Bringing the masses true stories of addictions, lies, betrayal, greed & near death experiences, this band breathes the new “Red Dirt Metal†they create. The formidable glue that holds the band together through thick and thin has been the Godfather of Red dirt metal himself – Big Dad Ritch. An imposing vocalist that screams Charlie Daniels and Rob Zombie in a single breath, combined with a band of outlaw misfits, is sure to please the masses. Produced by David Prater, known best for his work with Dirty Dancing, Dream theaters “Images and wordsâ€, "A Change of Seasons" and two Firehouse albums which yielded 6 top 20 singles…. incidentally asked the band to work with him. David’s mad scientist approach to working with the band, set standards
even the multi-platinum producer himself, admits were recordings firsts.
It's probably overkill but while you're at it, You've got to read this one!!! It's a review of the album "Pride Of Texas" from TMR Music Review...
If you haven’t heard of these guys yet, hold on to your ass, because you are about to be blown away. These guys fill a void that has been empty since December 8, 2004.
For those of you unfamiliar of the date that is the day a psychopath scumbag shot down Dimebag Darrell Abbott in cold blood. Coming from the same metal circuit as Pantera there are often comparisons drawn between the two bands. Let me tell you THC are their own band and in no way are a Pantera rip.
The double guitar attack of Randy Cooper and Michael Hayes remind me of Judas Priest’s K.K. Downes and Glenn Tipton more than they do Pantera. The double guitar attack is fluid and they complement each other perfectly instead of a constant guitar battle erupting for the spotlight. Keeping in mind these guys are a hell of a lot heavier than JP.
The vocals for the metal quintet are supplied by Big Daddy Ritch. This guy is Texas. Ritch is a big ass Texas redneck and there is no assumption this guy doesn’t take any shit. As big as his presence is his voice. His unique vocal styling have a muted back of the throat rumbling which he rotates with some classic in your face metal bellowing.
When Ritch blasts out the lyric to “Pissed Off And Mad About It†it makes you wonder, “Who was he pissed off at and is that person still alive?â€
The band is rounded out by John Exall on the bass guitar and Scott Lytle on the drums who together form a freight train like rhythm section the is the sonic foundation that this band is built on.
So if you are a fan of Pantera, BLS or even some of the old school metal like Black Sabbath or Ted Nugent. Do yourself a favor and head over to CD Baby or Amazon to buy a copy of this fantastic disk. You won’t be disappointed there isn’t a single bad track on it. No fluff, all metal.
Keep in mind when I say buy it, please support the band and buy it. Don’t download it from a torrent. The last thing you need is Big Daddy Ritch showing up at your door Pissed Off And Mad About It. Also if you download you won’t get the killer companion DVD of the band performing their songs live a great surprise and a killer bonus disk.
Definitely add this to your collection you won’t be sorry you did.

THC - OKLAHOMA SHOWS THIS WEEK!!!
Well helloooo there folks! Just got back to the management offices from eating some killer Thai food here in Norman, Oklahoma. Feeling good but I'm pretty tired. We've been hitting it hard getting everything ready for all that is being thrown our way. We are getting ready to go do a photo shoot here in a bit at Chaotic Studio's(same place they shot the video's for Leavin' and Pissed Off and Mad About It) so we can get new pictures up on the Myspace and the web page. Tonight, after the shoot should be fun, Steven Adler's(Guns N' Roses) band Adler's Appetite is playing in OKC at The Rock Theater and we are going to hang out with them again. We've been getting a lot of VIP privileges lately which feels pretty good. A few weeks ago we hung out backstage and I got to meet Gretchen Wilson and this past weekend we were All Access at Rascal
Flatts. I guess Vinnie Paul from Pantera/Hellyeah invited us to come to the clubhouse and put us on "the list" last week for Seventh Void's cd release party. I wasn't able to go cause I was in Houston but I heard they had a great time!
Anyway here's a rundown for this week. Tomorrow I will be headed back to Bartlesville so I can play the Solo Club With Hell or High Water. Then Thursday THC will be opening for The Michael Shenker Group(Ex Scorpions Guitarist) at The Rock Theater in OKC, then Friday night WE ARE PLAYING TULSA!!!! We will be at The Flytrap Music Hall in Downtown Tulsa at 2nd and Greenwood. I'm excited about this one!!!! Our new guitarist Eddie Bishop is from Tulsa and I know there are quite a few people coming from all over, especially from Bartlesville! Unfortunately we probably won't get to hang out much after the show cause we are driving all night to make our show at The Slang Metal Fest in Danville, Illinois on Saturday night but we are all stoked about that Tulsa show. The amount of support from us Okie boys' neck of the woods have turned some heads and everyone is looking forward to it! You can get more info on that show at www.flytrapmusichall.com
I know a lot of you are curious and some have been asking about the record deal with DRT/Universal. These things take time I guess, it is still being negotiated at this point but all looks good so far. More on that as it develops. Gotta go for now, hope to see ALL OF YOU this week at some point!

PLAYING HITCHIN' POST FRIDAY!!!
I am filling in on drums with a couple friends at The Hitchin' Post in Dewey this Friday night, June 5th! Music starts at 9pm and we will be playing late so all you Sunfest goers make sure to stop in after!
THE 918 PLAYING SUNFEST!!!
"The 918" will be playing what could possibly be our last gig. We'll be on the main stage at Sunfest this Saturday June 6th! We all certainly hope it's not our last but my schedule is going to get pretty crazy in the near future and I'm not sure how much I will be around. So we hope you will try to make it out, just in case! We go on at 6pm and will be playing for an hour to an hour and a half.

JUST AN UPDATE!
Had a few minutes so I thought I would send out an update to let you all know how things are going. We just got back to the office in Norman, Ok, we drove all night back from Houston. We played the House of Blues last night with Adler's Appetite and it was awesome! The venue was killer! That's the first time I've played a place with a balcony, it was a great view, very cool! The show went well, we were all pretty stoked about this show so we came out strong, I think we may have thrown the crowd into a state of shock for the first couple of songs. They really didn't know what to think of us. The looks on some of their faces was priceless. By about the third song Big Dad Ritch had them eating out of the palm of his hand! We finished to a roaring crowd and a drumstick catch from about 40ft in the air!(yes I actually caught it :-)
Those of you who don't know who Adler's Appetite is, it's members of Guns N' Roses, Faster Pussycat, E'nuff Z'nuff and Quiet Riot! They played G N' R's album Appetite For Destruction in it's entirety! And many more as well. The guy's were all very cool, down to earth and very complementary toward us. I have to say it's a pretty good feeling getting compliments from someone you grew up listening to. This was the second time I met these guy's, I met them first at Rocklahoma 2007 and Steven and the guy's were very nice both times. They had us come into their dressing room to party after the show, it was a lot of fun to say the least.
Our DRT/Universal showcase in OKC went very well and I am pleased to say they are preparing an offer this week! If negotiations go well we will be working with the biggest booking agency in the world with bands you would not believe on their roster. Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Clutch, Hellyeah just to name a few! The record company executive that flew in to see us has signed Pantera, Bon Jovi, Cinderella and MANY more! When he approached Universal with news about us Universal said they were already "A-buzz" about Texas Hippie Coalition and that they loved the record! They want to break us in England just like they did Pantera! This is all exciting news and we are certainly excited but I think you all should know if we do get signed it doesn't mean we have instantly "Made It" it's not like the old days when you sign a deal and you're a millionaire instantly. Nowadays it's more like a
partnership and you have to work together for both parties to make a profit.
We have hit # 20 on the charts! What charts exactly? I'm not sure, someone told me it was Billboard Metal then someone told me it wasn't so who knows? No one is awake at the moment for me to ask, but what I do know is it's VERY important for our future and everyone is super excited to get the news when we have moved up. I believe we entered at #39 then fell two points to #41 then back to the thirties, we got really excited when we hit #23 because when you hit #20 the band shows up in print for all the right people to see and good things could potentially come from it. Right now we are at #20!!! If you would like to help us keep moving forward call your favorite radio station every day and request them to play some Texas Hippie Coalition! I know for sure 97.5 KMOD in Tulsa has it and their number is 918-460-KMOD If your station doesn't have it tell them to GET IT! Thanks in advance for all
your support!
I know I'm forgetting to tell you a thousand things but it's all happening SO fast I'm just hanging on for dear life at this point!
THE 918 PLAYING THE HOT STREET PARTY AND SUNFEST!!!
Well folks, unfortunately "The 918" band is going to be taking a step back due to busy personal schedules. However, we have locked down at least two more shows in the very near future! One being "The Hot Street Party" in Downtown Bartlesville this coming Friday night May 29th and the other being a spot on the main stage at Sunfest on Saturday June 6th! If you haven't gotten the chance to see this band yet you should probably do so quick cause I don't know how much longer we are going to be able to hold this thing together with all that's going on! Hope to see you there!
I SHOULD BE AT SOLO CLUB THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT!!!
Just wanted to let everyone know I SHOULD be at the Solo gig this week with Hell or High Water! I hope you will make plans to be there.
Sorry I couldn't make it to Solo this past Wednesday, I had to make the trip to Houston that day so we would be rested(I wish) up for the show on Thursday. We stayed up late and got up early so we could go to the beach in Galveston for a few hours before our load in. Pretty cool, I was standing on the beach in Long Beach, California just three weeks ago! Now we just need an East coast run and I would feel complete. I would settle for england though! 8-]>

LONG STORY SHORT, HERE'S A QUICK RUN-DOWN!!!
As you all know from my last e-mail, Down For Five played Bikelahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma a couple weeks ago. After our set I was approached by Multi-platinum record producer David Prater about Texas Hippie Coalition(THC) needing a drummer. David told me about all the great things happening for THC and he said there was no doubt that I was the the right guy for the position. I traded info with David and went on my way. I hung out at Bikelahoma all weekend and when I got home on Sunday there were emails from David on my yahoo and my Myspace account. I called him and he was delighted to hear from me. He thought since I hadn't responded right back to his email that I had changed my mind about pursuing the opportunity. Truth is I was very excited about it, I just didn't think they would be so hasty about contacting me. We talked just about every waking hour, on the hour for the next couple days. He sent me the songs via
e-mail and we set up a time and place for us to meet. We ended up meeting in Oklahoma City, he lives in Austin,Tx but THC's management offices are in OKC and they had access to a 10,000 square foot studio there. I worked with David for five days straight! No shower, and we slept on the studio floor on futon mattresses! We worked all night long, sometimes till around 10am. On the last couple days the band came out and met with me and we ran through some of the material and I officially got the gig! David and I continued to work on the songs while some of the band and crew went to Tulsa to pick up my flight cases so we could hit the road, we worked all night up until the time I had to leave for a headlining West coast tour! I never even had a chance to come back home before we left! The tour went great! We were chased all over California by record labels, radio stations, promoters and fans. This band is
blowing up right now, it's crazy! We are rehearsing for more shows in Texas and Oklahoma this weekend and one of them is a showcase for Universal Records! They are flying in to see us this Saturday in OKC at The Rock Theater. We are shooting a television show tomorrow with Chaotic Television, it will include a live performance and interview. In addition to all of the scheduled headlining shows we are also set to open up for some major acts over the next few months as well, including Kid Rock, ZZ Top, Bret Michaels, Adler's Appetite(featuring Steven Adler from Guns N' Roses), Cross Canadian Ragweed, Whitesnake and many more! I have worked hard and consistently over the years, trying to put myself in a position where I would be completely ready for something like this if the opportunity ever arose. My dreams have finally started to come true! I'm on my way!!! And I don't even have to re-locate! The business offices are the
bands central meeting point so we rehearse and leave for tours from Norman, Oklahoma! I still will be able to play with my other bands as well, when THC's schedule permits it!!! I couldn't have found a better opportunity! It's a perfect match!! There is SO MUCH to tell you but I just don't have time to type it all! I will send out a more detailed message when I am able to come up for air. And I'll try to get the calendars updated sometime soon. Until then check out THC online at www.myspace.com/texashippiecoalition , www.thcoutlaw.com , www.deanguitars.com and

DOWN FOR FIVE THANKS YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!
We want to send a big THANK YOU out to everyone that supported Down For Five on this last Cain's show!!! We sold a total of 83 tickets and 61 of those were sold in Bartlesville! !! Due to all of your support, there were only two bands that sold more tickets than we did! There were a lot of great bands selling tickets to this show and we feel very fortunate to have gotten a decent time slot on the Main stage(8pm) and it's all because of your support! Thank you SO much!!
Congratulations to Heather Baker of Tulsa, who was the winner of Janna Jordan's Ibanez S470 guitar! You can see a video of the drawing at www.downforfive.com click on the "News" link at the top.
Down For Five will be going in to pre-production for a new EP after the holidays so we won't be doing very many, if any, shows for a while. We are looking forward to having something new to offer! Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted on our progress.
I'M BACK FROM MY TRAVELS AND READY TO JAM!!!
Well, I hit 9 states this time, three blizzards in Utah and a snow storm in New Mexico and I made it back in one piece! That was one hell of a drive! I saw some breathtakingly beautiful country!
The first three nights I spent in Estes Park, Colorado with family. While I was there we visited the famous Stanley Hotel where Steven King wrote The Shining and they filmed the scary as hell remake for TV there as well! Then, on to Las Vegas for a night and stayed with an old friend I hadn't seen in about 13 years! Went out and grabbed a beer, got some rest, and finally made my way out to Los Angeles the next day and met up with my pal Jack Tracy(Aka; Jack The Actor, Aka; Mack Daddy Jack) We hit all the have-to-see places over the next three
days including The Pacific Ocean, Venice Beach, Hollywood and all that entails, like Hollywood Blvd, The Sunset Strip and I even went rollin' down Rodeo with a pocket full of...um....change! ? Saw the Walk Of Fame and hung out at the Whiskey a Go-Go, The Ritz and The Rainbow bar and Grill where I met Ron Jeremy, Mike Inez(Alice In Chains, Ozzy) and got a picture(sort- of) with Dweezil Zappa!
After that I headed back to Vegas to hang out with my good friend Rob a little longer and take in the sights in Vegas one more night, we had a great home-cooked meal consisting of brick-oven baked chickens he raised himself and stuffed bell peppers filled with buffalo meat, exotic rice and lentils. Later we hit the strip and the Palms where T.J. and the band met Vinnie Paul(Pantera) a few days earlier. I didn't get so lucky, but that's ok I've met him already anyway ;-)> Rob saved the best for last and took me to the coolest place in Vegas, The Artisan! It's probably the only hotel in Vegas that you can't gamble in! VERY COOL! It's also a wedding chapel, but I decided against that, the waitress just wasn't my type, lol.
From Vegas I headed out to Mesquite, Nevada to meet up with T.J. and the band and jam a little. I stayed up and hung out for a while but I was pretty wiped out from Vegas so I got some rest and headed for the north rim of the Grand Canyon the next day. Unfortunately the North rim was closed for winter so I headed to the South rim(what a beautiful drive that was!), got in and made my way around the park just as the sun was setting, it was beautiful but awfully cold!
Barely made it to Albuquerque that night, the weather sucked! I got a cheap motel and rested up for the drive home. Woke up to a snow storm and had to drive 45mph through the mountains, but I made it home ...well, to the Solo, safe and sound by around 10 or 11pm Monday night. Then on to a nice welcome home jam at Doc's with some of the boy's from Fist Of Rage. Good times, good times!!!
Please be sure to help us spread the word about our shows...see you there!!!
