RE: [BBSBasses] Learn to Sing - recruitment

At the risk of being an email nuisance. I would like to give some value back
to you and pass on the benefit of experience in the UK on recruitment - some
return for all the tips you have given us.

UK Clubs have been using "Learn to Sing" as a very effective marketing and
recruitment tool. The main elements are the opportunity to learn and the
comfort of being a newcomer with the others in a group. A six/12 week
course advertised using all the usual means. Results have varied between 30
and 200 people turning up. Attendance after 6 weeks has been remarkable
particularly in ladies clubs. It appears to be far more effective than the
usual type of recruitment plan and includes all ages. Youngsters find
strength from other s of their age joining a new group.

Example plans, posters, singing manual etc can be downloaded from:-

http://www.babs-education.info/babs-membership/singing_course/VelvetHarmony/
dir.html

This can also lead you to our bulletin board and letters giving details of
experience in running the course.

The course material includes a complete guide to singing. They were created
by Neil Watkins, singing judge BABS

I can provide a Word document with hypertext links incorporating all the
materials on request

( The U.S. material and campaign is impressive

.pdf

but the Learn to Sing idea is simple and effective. )

Further on what Duane said, I believe over hydration in a situation where you are straining the cords hastens the edema (swelling) in a basses cords. Though we...
