This release combines drones with distroted overtones and hints
of blip and glitch. Grinding mechanical sounds also add to the
mix assaulting the ears with brutal yet melodic power electronic
compositions. In addition the album harbors a few tracks that
lend themselves more to the dark ambient side of experimental
music with the same source materials as the above only with less
aggression. This would be a great album for anyone still trying
to ease into power electronics, the excellent mixing job allows
your ears to hear all the subtlties across the frequency spectrum.

WILT: AMIDST A SPACIOUS FABRIC, CD

"Amidst a spacious fabric" is the third full length album by Wilt,
the dark ambient american project that surprised the whole genre
with his debut "The Black Box Aesthetics" in 2000. James Keeler,
the man behind Wilt, creates encompassing atmospheres made of deep
drones, slow soundscapes and a lot of variations, using original
sound sources that bring something interesting to a style where
blend electronics are too often prominant.

The 11 untitled tracks on "Amidst a spacious fabric" were created
with only sounds recorded with a zither, then manipulated and treated
to built slow and hyponitzing tracks. The listener is taken to a
dim lighted room, where tones are echoed and basses rumble. But this
is not all, since a lot of accoustic noises from the zither are also
used in this album, adding a lot of surprises and depth to
the dark textures.

Experimental but very well arranged and mesmerizing, "Amidst a
spacious fabric" could be compared to the works by Lustmord, Archon
Satani or Megaptera, but possesses a unique, deep touch that people
who know "The black box aesthetics" will easily recognize.

Mutations of a Dream is a compilation released independently by ten
finnish noise/industrial/ambient-artists. The artists appearing on
the album are The 4th Floor, DiversAeon, Haava, Hombre Muerto,
Maelstrom, Koje, Konemessias, Löyly, Nyrjä and Vasemman raajan halvaus.

The album is a professionally pressed CD with colour-sleeves. The
edition is limited to 300 copies.
