Periodic features two lengthy new elemental droneworks from Canadian
guitar deconstructionist Aidan Baker (also of NADJA), Periodic 1 (29:55)
and Periodic 2 (26:32). Baker constructed these pieces from manipulated
and damaged 4-track recordings of electric and acoustic guitars (as well
as drums) that have been re-assembled into monstrously slow-moving epics
of rolling feedback tides. Incandescent storm clouds gather in the
distance flecked with shafts of pink light and omnipresent tape hiss
shot from pulsating and rippling speaker cones suspended high in the
earth's atmosphere. Deeply buried drum rhythms surface amdist gradually
building layers of delicate, gossamer skree and subterranean grinding. A
beautiful and fully realized drone album, highly recommended to fans of
Aidan Baker's work, as well as that of fellow drift explorers Oren
Ambarchi, Troum, and Birchville Cat Motel.Packaged in a hand-assembled,

New collaboration between these two reknown acts. A unique mixture of
calming atmospheres, slightly distorted and hypnotic beats

entitled Havens. Formed from vaporous clouds of guitar, gamelan,
shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute), violin, vina, voice, flute, and
field recordings, Ross Hagen and Megan Garland have stretched these
sounds into infinite ribbons of metallic shimmer, twisting and swirling
into gorgeous hum. The three tracks on this disc are extended works that
range from eleven to twenty-five minutes in length, and drifts within
the angelic regions between Andrew Chalk's minimalist explorations, the
dream music of Troum (and their predecessor, Maeror Tri), and the bleary
melodic smear of My Bloody Valentine. Havens distills the bliss of deep
dreams and early morning haze into captured hymns, and is one of

A new shot of melodic alien powerdrone and severe speaker-cone overload
from Texas amplifier mutant KORPERSCHWACHE. Temple Of The Devil Kitty
opens with Voices Beneath The Navidson House, a seventeen-minute long
noisedirge that sounds like EARTH or SUNN O))) playing several blocks
down in heavy rain, as satanic toy monkeys bang cymbals and drag chains
around outside in the street and stray voices drift into earshot. This
is followed by Democracy Comes From The Barrel Of A Gun, which uncorks
some gooey blackened speaker tar over a sick Miami Vice beat, a
slaytanic Skullflower-in-a-drone-disco eruption that stands as one of
KORPERSCHWACHE's coolest blasts. Mammoth drum machine beats continue to
propel the disc's scorched cyclical riffage through songs like When
Wolves Dream Of Sheep and And Then Came December (Blunt-Force Injury
II). Six tracks in all of cascading waterfalls of sinister amplifier

but no less adventurous than the cavernous blackened droneworks of his

For those familiar with NEW RISEN THRONE you are probably already aware
of this artists catalog of releases thru various underground labels such
as ALARMING ECHO BEATS (USA), DESERTED FACTORY (JAPAN) and of course,
GOD IS MYTH RECORDS (USA). These particular 3 tracks show the project
(perpetuated by the one who goes only by the name of STIELH) moving into
even more dark and sinister territory. This is trademark NEW RISEN
THRONE. Albeit with a bleak sense of ‘black’ ambient mixed with cold and
eerie ‘voices from some far off abyss’. Add to this the suffocating,
trance inducing industrial sounds and you will soon realize that you

HARVEST. Although new to the ‘underground’ dark ambient scene this

discoveries, a Montreal secret that is still kept too well. Rei Rea is a
series of oneiric vignettes which are halfway between the first
Muslimgauze releases and the music of American project Stone Glass
Steel. An epic dimension seems to shine in every twist and turn, every
echo, every drift that this disc has to let out. Furthermore, the term
‘’psychedelic’’, which has been used to describe a zillion things since
