ARDITI: MARCHING ON TO VICTORY, CD
(Equilibrium Music)
The original release of "Marching on to Victory" dates back to 2003,
with a small pressing of 1000 copies on the obscure Swedish label
Svartvintras. The legacy that one half of the project brought from his
work with Puissance was fairly evident, yet the focus on his work as
Arditi was not so much beautifuly orchestrated narrations of the
apocalypse, but far grimmer depictions of the past centuries world
conflicts. Field recordings and blurry speeches were incorporated into
Arditi's compositions, adding a rather disturbing tone to the
predominant military snare-drums, obscure symphonic arrangements and
hypnotic soundscapes. The suffocating combination between martial
classical arrangements and somber atmospheres would set Arditi's debut
album as one of the bleakest releases on the Militaristic Neo-Classical
movement that was starting to flourish at the time. "Marching on to
Victory" is now made available again, in a deluxe Digipak release
featuring 2 bonus tracks.

BLACK SUN PRODUCTIONS: CHEMISM, CD
(Old Europa Cafe)
Black Sun Productions' new album for Old Evropa Cafe consists of 14
tracks of tribal electronica and it stands as the most rhythmic output
to date coming from Massimo & Pierce and their fellow Children of the
Black Sun. The wooden sound of the marimba in combination with flutes
and drums merging with very European sounding violins will reveal to the
listener a new and pleasantly suprising attitude in musick-making of
this collective of sound artists. The mutating precision of Pierce’s
electronics is here counterpointed by Massimo's sonorous, deep vocals.
Eschewing the melancholy of the double disc The Impossibility of
Silence, Black Sun Productions seems to have moved with CHEMISM into an
electronic semi-operatic mode. Some of the album's tracks were written
and performed in collaboration with draZen and Bahntier. CHEMISM
features Val Denham and Ariot Fleischmann on additional vocals, Roman
Hollenstein on drums and Roberto Budelo on violins. CHEMISM is possibly
the most original sonic statement of Black Sun Productions and it
consacrates Massimo & Pierce as a truly eclectic duo of performers and
producers. Coming into a 3 panels digipack fully illustrated by Jacopo
Camagni and Marco Felicioni of Studio Dronio.
Dedicated to William S. Burroughs on the 10th anniversary since his
death, CHEMISM is largely inspired by William S. Burroughs' 1969 novel
The Wild Boys.

GOSLINGS: GRANDEUR OF HAIR, CD
(Archive CD)
GOSLINGS “grandeur of hair” in a lot of ways a release that exceeded any
expectations I’ve had for the label. Up until this point the label had
mostly focused on live recordings (beyond the Plotkin/ Wyskida release)
but this project was more the full visualization of a project as the
band had been working on the recordings for some time. In a nutshell a
60’ish min. collection of tracks that feature husband wife duo of Max
and Leslie Soren of FL. Practicing the fine art of analog tape
annihilation and over saturation. Predominately a wall of fuzzed to hell
guitar noise mixed lightly with some drum beats here and there sprinkled
with some sweet female vocals. One of the things that always pulled me
in is the subtle guitar melodies that are buried beneath the haze. I’ve
seen a number of reviews and comments about this release giving it the
Sunno))) meets My Bloody Valentine tag, not sure if I fully see that
myself but whatever. Single pressing of 1000 pieces. [Label info]

INANNA: DAY OV TORMENT, CD
(Cold Spring)
Reissue of the massive Death Industrial album from this ARCHON SATANI
side-project, originally issued by Staalplaat in 1993. INANNA were at
the forefront of a new force in Doom Ambiance way back in the early
'90s. This stunningly remastered and repackaged album brings alive one
of the classic scene albums - a milestone in ultra grim and crushing
death sonics, that paved the way for many Drone and Ritual Industrial
bands around today. Mixed by J Havukainen (IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES).
PRICE: 12 € / $
JÄÄPORTIT: AVARRUS, CD
(Epidemie Records)
Frosty, fragile and deep ambient. Finland
Digisleeve CD, limited edition 500 copies
PRICE: 12 € / $
LINGUA FUNGI: TLAPALLAN PANTONAL, CD
(War Office Propaganda)
Tlapallan Pantonal is a personal interpretation of Central American
mythology. This album is inspired particulary by the myth of
Quetzalcoatl - one of the most important and greatest gods of
Mesoamerican Indians. More than utilizing the sound of native american
music tradition, this record is made entirely around the mood that the
Great stories personally evoked. Sounds vary from purely abstract
ambient to acoustic folk passages. Yet another very interesting record
of Lingua Fungi.
PRICE: 12 € / $
MERZBOW VS NORDVARGR: PARTIKEL II, CD
(Cold Spring)
The second part of the Partikel trilogy is finally here! Another
beautifully constructed collaboration from the two noise giants -
Japanoise King Masami Akita (aka Merzbow) and Swedish Lord Henrik
Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Folkstorm, Toroidh etc). The styles on
'Partikel II' range from total noise barrages to more subtle dark
ambient pieces. Essential! Presented in a luxurious matt laminate digipack.
PRICE: 12 € / $
NADJA: THAUMOGENESIS, CD (Archive CD)
Behemoth of a release dropped on me by Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff.
We had been talking about a release of some type after I got ultra
hooked on his solo works and he kicked this content over to me for my
label. 60+ min 1 track disc the lumbers along with highs and lows and
plodding drum tracks that brings to mind comparisons of godsflesh and
Jesu. Pressing of 600 copies that sold very quickly, if I had known how
quickly this one would get gobbled up I would have done the full
thousand but oh well. Fantastic graphic work from Seldon Hunt on this
release which also comes in the center folding front sleeve (like
shutters on a window opening to reveal CD attached inside) [Label info]
PRICE: 12 € / $
PUISSANCE: BACK IN CONTROL, CD
(Equilibrium Music)
Following the awe-inspiring debut "Let Us Lead", Puissance would return
a couple of years later to unleash "Back In Control", a cynical tribute
to human evolution and how such evolution inevitably seems to dictate
the end of the World and mankind's own extinction. The impending
man-made apocalypse which Söderlund obsessively narrates is superbly
illustrated by epic martial compositions, to which the pace is set by
loud marching drums and Industrial percussion. A compelling work of art,
that would bring Industrial music to a new climax thanks to the glorious
Neo-Classical arrangements that Puissance have developed for the album.
Originally issued via Cold Meat Industry in a 2000 copies limited
edition, this rare classic is now finally made available again through
Equilibrium Music, who have also recently re-issued the band's debut
"Let Us Lead". "Back In Control" has been re-mastered and enhanced with
one bonus track, presented in a deluxe digipak edition with embossed cover.
PRICE: 12 € / $
PUISSANCE: GRACE OF GOD, CD
(Equilibrium Music)
Three years after "State Collapse", the cogwheels on the
Puissance-warmachine have been fine-tuned and put to work again, in a
crushing motion that seems to be as defiant and innovative as ever.
Forerunners in blending post-Industrial soundscapes with seemingly
Wagnerian inspired classical scores, the Swedish duo's controversial
portrayal of human life often tends to raise a mix of conflicting
feelings towards them.
Musically, "Grace of God" could well be referred to as a re-definition
of the currently over-abused Martial-Pop term, yet Puissance's own
superior combination of sumptuous Neo-Classical and Industrial elements
raises any potential Pop anthem to an entirely distinct level. More
melodic and vocal-oriented than before, this latest opus also comes to
expose a more rhythmic approach that had been hinted at in previous
releases, but which has now morphed into a powerful and relentless
driving force in Söderlund and Möller's compositions. Compellingly
militant as well as beautifully apocalyptic, "Grace of God" finds
Puissance in top form, presenting a fine compendium of all bits and
pieces that the band have been flirting with throughout their career and
incorporating them in a unique style which will again set new standards,
as they have been known to do in previous outputs.
PRICE: 12 € / $
PURE: FETOR, CD
(Freak Animal)
re-release of PURE "Fetor" tape originally on Birthbiter. 80's UK power
electronics a'la Ramleh meets guitar feedback-drone. Matthew Bower's
solo work. Including bonus live gig from '88 what was not on original
tape. That gig was advertized to be Ramleh live, but due Gary Mundy
didn't arrive to venue, similar material of Pure tape was performed.
Previously unreleased! 300 copies, in black vinyl box with blue paper
artworks like tape.
PRICE: 11 € / $
SHINJUKU THIEF: THE SCRIBBLER, CD
(Cold Spring)
Reissue of the 1992 classic by this Australian genius, originally
released in an edition of 500 copies. Occasional bursts of factory
noise, industrial rumblings and disembodied German voices form the
backdrop to a minimalist reworking of Kafka's "The Trial." An album of
dense filmic atmospheres and orchestral instrumentation. 'The Scribbler'
has been digitally remastered and is enhanced with a series of video
clips constructed by Richard Grant (I+T=R), incorporating both new
material together with the original images prepared for "The Scribbler"
live show.
PRICE: 12 € / $
SISTRENATUS: DIVISION ONE, CD
(Cold Spring)
Powerful debut of the Canadian noise project. 'Division One' is harsher
and more bombastic than Harlow MacFarlane's now defunct project FUNERARY
CALL. A true onslaught of Black Ambient, Power Noise and Death
Industrial. This is the much anticipated album, after the well received
track on our legendary SWARM sampler.
PRICE: 12 € / $
SLEEP RESEARCH FACILITY: DEEP FRIEZE, CD
(Cold Spring)
Ultra deep, glacial Dark Ambient, based around Antarctic co-ordinates.
The polar regions are awe-inspiring environments of inhospitable
minimalism, and at the same time there's a beautiful serenity to be
found in their uncharted bleakness. There's a powerful purity and a
timelessness to be found there; snow which has lain un-trampled for
millennia and ice which formed eons ago; mountain ranges and deserts and
rivers to be found if you look. 'Deep Frieze' is SRF's second album for
Cold Spring and here deep, resonant, abyss-like drones shine forth from
icy chasms below.
