CATACLYST: MONUMENTS OF A RUBICUND AGE, CD

A strange project that for a moment united Peter Andersson (raison
d'etre) and Johanna Rosenqvist (ex-Institut, Koeff) in the distant 1992.
Cataclyst's music combines the melancholic beauty of early raison d'etre
and Necrophorus, harsh industrial rhythms of Institut and
tribal-elements of another undeservingly forgotten project of Peter -
Svasti-Ayanam... What differs this product from other works of Swedish
industrial scene masters is the atmosphere of remote fairy worlds in
which you smoothly sink into while listening to "Monuments of a Rubicund
Age". Peter and Johanna have woven an infinite labyrinth of mirages,
walking through which will be a pleasant surprise for both the fans of
ambient / experimental / industrial and more conservative gothic lovers.
The first edition of the album was published by Peter's own label Yantra
Atmospheres in 1999 and was limited to 100 copies. This reissue has been
made by joint efforts of the labels Tantric Harmonies and Zhelezobeton,
it contains a shorter version of the album's last piece + bonus-track.

CIRCULAR: SHAPING THE UNKNOWN, CD

This debut defines an opulent style of meditative ambient music and
celebrates the pure sound engines of perfect analogue synthesizer music.
Johannes Riedel created an elegant and stylish form of drone music to
build ellipses inbetween sculptures blowing through the triangular
center. These aural paintings uncover sacred landscapes of drifting
loops and the brilliant use of guitars to set up an unearthly visionary
wall of sound. Circular's music disposes a special principle where
tracks build up slowly and take the period of concentration, of taking
shape, followed by overwhelming massive soundworlds from outer states.

Destructo Swarmbots has carved a unique niche for themselves over the
past 4 years. Their live shows consist of chaotic walls of white noise,
improvised textures and battered instruments. Their recordings are
delicate, at times meditative, washes of ambience constructed from
countless piles of tortured sounds. Influenced heavily by 200+
needle-dropped, out of print psyche records, "Clear Light" is their
strongest effort yet and the next step on their journey to artistic
isolation.

ERTHAD: GMA, CD-R

Russian project Erthad, originating from Kazan, exists since late
90-ies, but until now still hasn't made any official releases and
preferred to stay in underground, recording music only for himself and
his friends. We have been endeavouring to change this situation for a
long time and now we're glad to present this wonderful disk to your
attention. "Gma" was recorded in 2002 with the use of voice and software
noise synthesizers. If one says that the album's style is called
"ambient noise" - is to say almost nothing. The disk has very specific
atmosphere: this is a noise meditation, calm and detached from emotional
fuss. An intuitive electronic pulse synchronizes with brain frequencies,
rising and falling waves of non-aggressive white noise pacify thoughts,
and constantly rustling high frequencies when listened to attentively
evoke dissotiative sensation, dissolving perception in the sonic field.
However, everything as always depends on a listener himself.

HERBST9 vs Z’EV: THROUGH BLEAK LANDSCAPES, CD

With this stunning collaboration the dark cavernous drones and
ethnic-ritual instrumentation of Herbst 9 melts with the complex and
percussive sounds of industrial pioneer and master of rhythmata Z´ev.
Ten tracks of deep spheres and blazing luminescence will propel you into
a swirling void of aural effects and demonic resonance. Both projects
worked with the raw material of each other while the final mix was made
by Herbst 9. The result is a sombre and meditative soundtrack
constructed with gongs, choral textures, deep vibrating strings and
scraping sounds-effects reaching a climax with an outburst of
tribalistic sequences and rhythmic percussion. An impressive and
gripping journey through bleak landscapes and abandoned places.

If Mark Stewart was joining Khanate and Bad Brains were playing black
metal, there's a slight chance that a resemblance to what Lietterschpich
(Hebrew for Liter of Cum) has achieved with their debut album will
arise. This bleak digital-doom-dub shriek is bound to slap the hard-core
fans of innovative harsh music Ð It doesn't get more extreme than this!
Featuring members of Barbara and Grave in the Sky, this is highly
recommended if you like Throbbing Gristle, Volt, Stallagh, Menstruation
Sisters and White Mice. Roughly an hour of DOOM NOISE TERROR, roughly an
hour, 999 copies.

MAEROR TRI: THE BEAUTY OF SADNESS, CD

"The Beauty Of Sadness" appeared in February 1996 as cassette-only
release on the cassette-only label Direction Music from Wales, run by
Peter Harrison, and was available for some years, before Peter sadly
died in the year 2000. This was Maeror Tris 11th full-length tape, and
appeared in 1996 only shortly before their disbandment... The
bonus-track "Immersion In Emotion" was recorded 10/1993 and appeared
only on the "From The Hills Of Dream" Video/MC-Compilation, also on
Direction Music. This music is dedicated to the memory of Peter
Harrison. Barakah, November 2003.

folklore/musical mythology projection. Its conception seems to be far
from modern world in terms of both aesthetics and social issues, taking
us back to the roots, where the forest is like a fairyland, embodying
the dream of every hermit creature. All composition are undoubtly
anxious, uneasy by nature which nevertheless is not going against
ambient harmony. Beautiful and very peculiar work. Limited to 287 copies

THE INFANT CYCLE: PLAYOUT, CD-R

The Infant Cycle is a project of the Canadian artist Jim DeJong working
under this name since 1994. It may seem surprising, but all these 13
years he remained in the underground of experimental music, and his name
is well-known only to inveterate enthusiasts and explorers of this
strange phenomenon. The project has put out 6 full-length albums on
cassettes and CD-Rs, several singles and an amazing series of minions
called "Clear Shape" released in ultra-limited editions on transparent
vinyls of unusual forms (square, hexagon and triangle). Jim has also
recorded a lot of collaboration works with such musicians as Big City
Orchestra, Dronaement, Orphx, Aidan Baker, Delphium, etc., some of them
were published by his own label The Ceiling. The Infant Cycle's music
has never been notable for tensity or ornateness, instead of this it
focuses on the subtle aspects of sounding of separate timbres and their
combinations. Such textural orientation allows to create a completely
peculiar effect, and the seeming minimalism carries into the
contemplation of the infinity of possible microsound combinations. In
this connection, Jim knows how to get on with both rhythms and drone
ambient prostration. Among his favourite instruments are Poly-800,
shortwaves, feedback, field recordings and altered vinyl records. Vinyls
deserve special mentioning. Jim carved the runout grooves of records and
thus created simple and unembellished (yet in some ways, unpredictable)
rhythm patterns. Once he decided to start a project severely limiting
the sound sources to one carved playout and the operational sounds of
his old 4-speed Califone record player. Additional noises were generated
by running a razor blade along the platter while it was spinning (the
blade at different altitudes, and the platter at different speeds which
was picked up by the needle), and the tone arm being vibrated into
different tones by a violin bow (amplified via the needle). An early
track (called, fittingly "Playout (Early)") appeared on "Lágrimas De
Miedo N°8 - Sund", a compilation CD coming with the eighth issue of
France's "Fear Drop" magazine (2001). Two excerpts were also released as
a free promotional 5" by The Ceiling to announce the then-upcoming CD
release of "Playout" on the American label Merchants Of Sound. But the
label soon folded out, and the recording was lying and lying in the bins
of The Infant Cycle's archive. And now we are infinitely glad to have an
opportunity to present this work to your attention.

A year and a half in the making... three labels (Public Guilt, Epicene
Sound Systems and Underadar) teamed up to co-curate and co-release a 55
artist, 225 minute, 3CD compilation of some of the best noise /
experimental / avant artists active today. Collected in a 5" x 6" x 1"
kraft paper box and wrapped in a beautiful gold ink on red paper band ,
"untitled" features the visual art of four visual artists (2 pieces per
artist) who are also represented in sound: Shaun Flynn (Wzt Hearts),
Christopher White (Magicicada), Jason Zeh (as himself) and Matthew Reis
(Teeth Collection).
