'Tis The Season...   Message List

In the spirit of the 'giving' season, I want to share
with you something that cannot ever be 'honestly'
bought...something that comes, not only from the
heart, but also from people who are genuinely
surprised and grateful when you choose to go beyond
the call of duty in their interest, and without their
requesting you do so.

I was recently preparing to approach some new clients
for record promotion in 2001. Naturally, I called on
several clients of the past year whom I felt would be
satisfied with various promotional and business
results I had obtained for them, their recordings, and

their careers.

Actually, I did not even ask for them to prepare any
in-depth testimonials, but simply requested their
permission to refer new clients to them, with them
stating briefly whether I was worth the new client's
time and money, or not.

Well, imagine my surprise when my first responding
client forwarded the following testimony. Upon your
review, I believe you will agree that there exists few

'gifts' of this quality that one can receive, at any
time of the year, when seeking to provide a service
that can be perceived as one with integrity,
especially within the music industry.

And, at the risk of 'back-patting', I also invite you
to review even more testimonials along this line by
sending a blank email to kennylove@....

Perhaps, through these testimonies, both Independent
music businesses and artists alike, can take a second
(positive) look at working and serving together in
this new cyber domain, with even greater congenial
results, not only in the new year, but onward.

Thanks for reviewing them.

======================================

"Dear Kenny,

On behalf of my project, "Keague/Farrell/Muñoz/," I
wanted to write a quick note of thanks for all of the
help you extended to us over the past many months. I
think the best way to summarize our appreciation, is
to recap the results of your direct involvement in our

project.

1) Approximately 100 qualified leads developed during
the pre-release phase.

2) Hours of discussion, which forced us to develop
proactive strategies to target our finished product to

the industry.

3) With your guidance, we avoided many production
snafu's in the development of our liner
notes...ensuring legibility over fancy design to
better our chances of being "added" to station's
playlists.

4) You helped us pick the most appropriate lead song
to pitch to radio...this alone was worth it's weight
in gold!!

5) You have given us some solid ideas for the all-
important video we are currently working on.

6) You essentially went beyond your promotion duties
and gave us a ton of managerial advice to ensure we
were set up properly on the business
side...publishing, copyright, etc. As a result, most
of our business is now properly protected!

7) Your experience in the recording business had a
direct result on the quality of our first release, as
our conversations enabled us to, once again, avoid
common mistakes...especially your comments on our pre-
studio recording 4-track roughs. We have the best
record any one of us has ever released.

So to sum, words cannot properly express our deep-felt

gratitude for all of your involvement Kenny, as we
thank you again and again, and that still doesn't seem

enough.

Today, it is a rarity to find someone as honest and as

caring, with as much experience as you, who is not
trying to take advantage of the indie artists' lack of

knowledge. I know we will be working together again
soon, and know that with your help, we have a shot at
creating a sustainable long-term career for ourselves.

Again, we are so very appreciative."

Sincerely,

Peter Farrell
