Hi:
I wish to apologize, in advance, to you if you have received
this information previously.
Though the "B# Newsletter" is no longer being published, I
would like to inform you, as a former subscriber, of a new
resource that I believe you will agree is going to prove
significantly more beneficial to you and your music career
and, particularly, your music sales.
In fact, this new resourceful idea that I have recently created
for bringing new and more exposure to your music, has met
with a tremendously positive reception from select
independent musicians during the last several weeks.
Please review the below information that is being forwarded
to independent musicians and recording artists who are
serious about enhancing their careers, and who are seeking
an alternative to the "lock-out" being currently created at
radio stations through large radio networks and major record
labels buying huge blocks of air time.
In advance, thank you for your interest.
Sincerely,
- Kenny Love,
Former Editor/"B# Newsletter"

[LETTER OF INTENT]
Dear Former "B# Newsletter" Subscriber:
Most likely you have now heard that Clear Channel and
other such large national radio networks, and major
record labels are now in cahoots in attempting to sew up
the major radio station markets for their own artists, thus,
making it even more difficult for indies to get their music
played.
Not only are the radio networks swallowing up and
buying out vital independent stations in the major
metropolitan markets but as a last ditch effort to continue
making it difficult for Indies to get airplay, major record
labels are also now making deals with these same
networks to buy up as much "block time" as possible for
their major label artists.
What does this all mean for you as an independent
recording artist? Well, plain and simply, it means a
doubly hard cold slap in the face, that's what. So, what
can you do about it?
Well, our answer to that is to fight fire with fire by using
a "back-door" approach. In other words, maintaining
open airwaves for independent musicians by going
directly into secondary markets...primarily, smaller rural
markets that either receive notices regarding
independent artists second-hand, or worse, never.
In fact, are you aware that practically since the music
business went "corporate" way back in the '70's, that
many radio stations in rural markets are not only
overlooked and ignored by the major labels, but they
also must buy the same promotional records heard on
major metropolitan stations that continue to make it
hard for Indies to be heard?
Ironically, these rural and smaller markets are perfect
for Indies because they will not only be appreciative of
receiving your promo CD (and, will quickly give it airplay)
but they will also be much more dedicated to and
appreciative of the fresh independent music they might
not have, otherwise, ever had an opportunity to
experience.
And, recognizing an immediate opportunity, as well as
the chance to combat and ease the difficulty for Indies,
our company's advertising department is currently
purchasing radio air time in order to advertise select
music client releases on both radio and television in
our Texas area via simulcast.
The advertisements will consist of bringing the music
of independent musicians and recording artists to the
attention of the mainstream music buying public.
Advertisements will air on both radio and television
simultaneously in our area, and to multiple counties,
with a population of 30,000 and up.
In fact, the station's signal on which our music clients
will be advertised, reaches an extensive number of east
Texans in the 15-25-year market (the music industry's
largest music-buying group) outside its own centralized
listening area as follows:
1. 35 miles west
2. 47 miles east
3. 90 miles south
4. 35 miles north
Tentatively titled, "Kenny Love's Music Hour," the first
air date to present various music ads is scheduled for
Nov. 3, and we are already bringing attention to this
first air date through area newspapers, radio and
television ads, as well as a flyer distribution campaign.
We are advertising music in the formats of; Progressive
Rock, RnB, Hip Hop, Country, Jazz and more.
As you can imagine, this added radio and television
exposure will immediately open up areas for your music,
in terms of increased exposure through music reviews,
interviews, performances and music sales that you
probably do not currently have.
We will also continue to expand our program into more
of these same types of listening areas and markets
across the country as well in order to bring our music
clients even broader exposure to their musical works.
But, the best reciprocal effect you are likely to
experience, as crazy as this might sound, these same
radio music directors and programmers who are now
turning blind eyes and deaf ears to your music now,
possibly, hearing or learning of your record through our
program and its continually growing network, then
deciding that they wish to add it to their playlist.
As we have reviewed your music beforehand to insure
that it fits within our advertising format, if you are
interested in having a single that you recently released
from your complete compact disc advertised on
our program, we would greatly appreciate your
consideration of working with us in this new venture to
bring new exposure, fans, listeners and buyers to your
work.
Next, we need to confirm that your music is available
for sale to the public in CD format, either from your web
site or in music stores in Texas.
We also request that you grant us a non-exclusive right
to purchase your music at the standard wholesale
discount rate that you are allowing other distributors in
order to make your music available to our listeners who
wish to purchase it directly through our radio program.
Allowing us to distribute your music will also serve to
offset any difficulty you may experience in attempting
to get your record either consigned to Texas stores for
our listeners who wish to buy it, and creating an ongoing
business nightmare for you in trying to maintain
accounting records with each store, or any difficulty you
might encounter with getting distributors to carry it
because of its lack of sales history.
Overall, as you probably understand, first and foremost,
it is extremely important that we not upset our listeners
by advertising product that they are certain to like, but
cannot buy for their enjoyment. To do so, does neither
you, the listeners, nor our advertising efforts any good.
In advance, I have taken the liberty of enclosing ad rates
below for your review and consideration, of which I am
certain you will find extremely reasonable compared to
the geographical listening coverage as listed above.
Thank you sincerely,
- Kenny Love
