Hi all. Welcome all you new signees! Just a quick note to
apologize for the vanishing of barbarakessler.com. We are in
the middle of reconstruction and something wierd happened to
the existing site. The new CD is finished, and is
materializing as I type... should be in hand in two weeks.
Yay! Tell everyone you know! Pre-orders and samples will be
up on www.cdfreedom.com very soon.

Hope to see some of you at these upcoming dates. Now that
the recording is over (that was the fun part) I will be
concentrating on the grueling business of trying to get
people to hear it!! Barbarakessler.com should be fun once
we're done (Jeff is becoming a Flash wizard) so tell your
buds to come check us out. Also, those of you who are
Singles Club'ers, you will be getting a single soon with an
advance copy of "Baby," with Jennifer Kimball accompanying
me. As always, breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks Jenn!

I miss touring SOOOO much. Please let me know if there are
new places to play in your area since the last time I was
there... any input is greatly appreciated. Contact me at
artistdevelopment.com until my site comes back. I'm trying
not to plummet into virtual existential obliteration - can
you IMAGINE? my dot com done gone. A post-modernist's
blues...

hi Susan! hi BK fans! here is some more info on the Respond cd.. Barbara said
in her e-mail message that you could e-mail her if you were interested - her
e-mail address is barbara@... or bkpower3@.... I also
checked Amazon.com and they have it as well. This should be the link to that
page:

Hi All,

Greetings and Best Wishes of the Season! I am just now
addressing the Holidays, now that we are on break from The
New Record. It is going extremely well, and is taking longer
than originally planned (but that always happens and in this
case is good news - it's sounding so good that both Adam and
Carl/ producer and engineer decided they would commit more
of their busy schedules to doing it up just right.) Now it
is time to turn my attention to booking and Website
Updating. But first, some spiked eggnog...

My friend David is hosting an alterna-New Year's celebration
around the corner from me and I do hope some of you can join
us. No Black Ties! No skimpy little starve-yourself Black
Dresses! No babysitters! (Well, optional - feel free to
bring the kids...) Hope to see you there!

Guys - Barbara is TERRIFIC!!! If you can go, DO! :) Lisa

Hello! Thanks to those who made it out to HMV Records Sunday; sorry we weren't
there! (Harvard Square's Oktoberfest was rained-out.) This Saturday the 16th is
a chance for me to catch up with you in Cambridge, however! Yes, this is just a
friendly reminder that I'll be at Club Passim, Saturday, October 16th, two
shows, 7 & 10pm. My buddy Johnsmith from Wisconsin will be opening and be sure
to get there early to catch him and be seriously UPLIFTED. (Can't count on me
for that.) (Just kidding) Come and check out the new songs in their current
forms - will be recording the new CD starting this week! It will be produced by
Adam Steinberg, who recently produced Les Sampou's latest album (check it out,
on Flying Fish, it's wonderful). He's a guitarist who you may have heard with
Patty Griffin and more recently, Dixie Chicks.

To those of you in NYC, don't forget the Living Room next Thursday, October
21st!

Thanks for all the input from California - I've got a few southern Cal. things
in place and am working on solidifying the north.

As always, great to hear from you and we'll keep in touch.

Be well,
Barbara Kessler

hey - I went to ASU for two years but then transferred back to Western State
in Gunnison, CO...I lived in Mesa, Tempe and north Phoenix (7th st and
Bell)...I saw Barbara at this bar or coffeehouse in Scottsdale. She opened
up for AJ Croce (Jim Croce's son I think) but I didn't stay for him...I was
in the front row there so it was great :) when I saw her at the Unitarian
church in Marblehead MA in 96 (I think) there were like 50 or so people there
so it was really cool...unfortunately though, I had to work that night and
Peter Mulvey was supposed to open for BK so we were just going to go for her
since I had to work anyway...well, with my luck, Peter Mulvey cancelled and
Barbara went on an hour early so me and my friends missed half her show :(
and Mary Tyler Moore - my favorite!
Can't wait for California shows :) Lisa

Yeah, the concert was pretty cool. It was at a local college and was
scheduled the first week of school. Freshmen were the only ones on campus
at the time though. The concert began at 8 PM and promptly at 9 PM everyone
except for the four of us got up and left. Needless to say, Barb was a
little disconcerted about the walkout until one of the people staying (a
college administrator) informed us theat earlier that day the administration
has decided to have a freshman orientation meeting that night at 9.
Apparently they had forgotten about the concert. The concert hadn't been
publicized locally because it was intended for Salve Regina students only,
but when I found out about it (via the web) I called the University and they
had no problem with us attending. Turned out to be a real special night for
us. Even before the walkout there were only about 50 people there.

High School. Graduated from ASU a long time ago (1978).

Hi all, Thanks for keeping in touch! Here are a number of upcoming dates, as
well as some radio appearances. Thanks to all of you who responded to my survey!
I got so many replies I was unable to respond personally to everyone but I truly
appreciate the time and thought you put into it! I rented "October Sky" on
several people's recommendation and really enjoyed it. Still no time/babysitter
for a real night at the movies.... Too chicken for Blair Witch anyway, which was
the most talked about summer fave. The favorite BK song of all time was pretty
much a tie between The Date and Happy With You with notion a close second. Lots
of other surprise votes; I'll have to resurrect some of those in my set lists!!
Someone named Lisa in California decided to start a BK discussion list. She said
she was surprised there wasn't one already. I gave it my blessing and was
honored and a little shy about it - everyone talk about me? I thought only I
talked about me to everyone. Well, feel free to join in:

Hope to see you out there!"For Real" recording is commencing mid-October so
things are starting to get a bit crazy.

Hello to everyone on the list,

It appears Barbara has fans across the country. I thought she was more
a regional performer (New England) and am pleasantly surprised to note
otherwise. My wife and I saw her perform a couple of years ago at a local
college (Salve Regina, Newport RI). A long story but it ended up the
concert
was performed for four people. Nothing beats talking to the artist between
songs. Afterwards my wife and Barbara talked for about 15 minutes. She's a
real down-to-earth honest person and we appreciated the time she spent with
us. Oh, by the way, the concert was free.

Here's to hoping continued success to her and to this list.

-Bob

Hey all (well, all one of you!)

Thought I'd say hi--I found out about Barbara Kessler's music somewhere
along the line when she was mentioned on the Indigo Girls list, and I picked
up a copy of Notion for $1.98 at Streetlight Records (either in Santa Cruz
or San Jose), and fell in love. I just got Stranger to this Land over the
weekend.

Intimate details...I'm, um, 24, a fledgling singer/songwriter sort
masquerading as a secretary in a real estate firm, live in Chicago, and am
on entirely too many of these crazy lists. So what's one more.

Hope to hear from y'all.

Take care,
shel
