MIKE GARRETT talking to KEV DIXON and others: Letter on public view (on Message Board)

 

Hi Kev and others on the public message board,

 

I may disappear from the message boards (or be less frequent) after the 21^st August.

The temporary archaeology dig I am working on, is supposed to finish on that date.

I want to be doing more website design / publishing courses at college (as I have been doing earlier this year).

The local Lincoln college is cutting back on its courses (due to Recession pressure), so I am thinking of driving to Scunthorpe, Skegness, Grimsby etc on Saturday mornings, or whenever else, to find the courses I want.

Maybe these other colleges are also cutting back courses? I hope not.

 

On to another matter.

 

I was talking to a promoter in Yardbirds Rock Bar (Grimsby) last night.

He is one of the three Promoters who used to run the Rock Tribute evenings at THE LEAKING BOOT pub in Cleethorpes.

He says he wants to fund / promote a Blackmores Night gig at Lincoln Castle.

I myself gave up on the Lincoln Castle idea back in 2007 but as he himself seems adamant.

I explained that I expected Alec Leslie (Kennedy Street Promotions) to put on the usual seven-theatre tour in early Spring 2010.

Kennedy Street would surely not add an eighth venue to the tour, funded by a different promoter?

 

He mentioned the view that the band does not tour in the UK enough and that the suggested castle venues that the fans recommend are never investigated. I replied with my viewpoint that I think that it is pointless for any fans to be sending-in suggestions for gig venues. Each time the band wants to tour, they turn to the same promoters and it the promoters that then choose where the band will play, this is why certain choices of theatre venues are repeated (to some extent).

 

Anyway Kev, I promised him an answer but I don’t expect a positive one.

I think you had best sort this one out? WINK!

 

Finally, a very few UK Street Team fans have emailed me to ask what is going on, in regards to BN.

 

All I can type here is my summing up of the situation.

 

ONE: No UK tour till Spring 2010

TWO: Only BN gigs are present tour plus a Christmas charity show in New York (as last year)

THREE: Candice to finally do her filming in the later part of this year.

FOUR: Winter Carols to be re-released once again.

 

Nothing you cannot readily deduce from posts on the net anyway.
