I know I am a litle bit ahead with suggesting this; but I guess we need to think about what DJs might mention it on the Radio?

 

I had a conversation with Dave Basso (Street Team) the other day and he says that his mate Ben Turner is still mentioning BN quite regularly on his radio show; and even using the tunes as background music whilst making his announcements.

 

So that it is the first obvious person to ask.

 

Sure, I could ask a few DJs near me but I know from experince that I would get better results if I were talking to them in their own professional jargon.

 

So, we maybe need someone as a Street Team Media Manager, who basically approaches the DJs and talks to them in the same language?

 

We know Dave Basso has former professional experience in the industry; and would be an obvious "candidate" (in my opinion).

 

So, do we have other people here, who would like to do that role? Or, should we ask if Dave would do it?

 

(Bye the way, if someone did have a media manager title, that does not mean that the would be lumbered with all the burden. For example, I am sure that Kev and Alan would still have closer ties with Scots radio presenters etc.)

When do we do this? Not quite just yet. When we have confirmation that there are promo items for them, then we put the word out.

 

(Incidentally, we can hit some locations in Wales, NOT by you having to visit them. We email them to see if they will take flyers; then we mail some to them. I keep wondering if it is worth having some promo things in each castle in Wales? There is also a rock tribute venue in Wrexham that is quite well known on the Net. If I can recall it, I will let you know).

Quite funny that you got a French station to play BN (Good for you! ha ha)

 

I think Hospital Radio stations are a good locations to try. Also, small local radio stations seem more amenable, than the larger ones (as the larger ones have a fixed play list, that they will not alter).

 

I remember trying to get radio stations to play WINTER CAROLS, last year. The problem was, I knew damn well, when I walked into the reception foyer of Lincs FM or Radio Lincolnshire, that I was not "talking the talk" (i.e. their jargon), so I knew I was in for a struggle. They both said they would try and get it played off peak times but as to whether they did or not????

 

I hate going into those places and saying I REPRESENT THE STREET TEAM because you know you are making yourself sound like a salesman. I prefer to say I AM IN A FANCLUB FOR ABAND THAT IS TRYING TO GET ITS CD PLAYED. If they ask me why I in particular, have the items, I say WE VOLUNTEER TO BE IN SOMETHING CALLED A FAN CLUB STREET TEAM.

 

I phrase it like that TO SEEM LESS SALESMANLIKE AND LESS PUSHY

 

But there is only a small percentage chance it will work.

 

In contrast, several small stations in Bassetlaw District (between Lincoln and Worksop) seemed really keen on the phone; and told me to send a promo.

 

A couple of stations in Northamptonshire were also encouraging.

 

I managed to get promos to 15 Radio stations in the end (but it is hard to ascertain what success I had in getting them played)

 

I have a friend who works for Radio Viking (Hull). He writes scripts for radio adverts. He says he can get a BN promo onto the desk of the guy who has the play list; but cannot guarantee us with a greater chance of actually been selected to actually get on the air.

 

It is harder to get stuff played than it seems; but I guess we must keep hammering away at the problem

Hi Everyone,

 

I have been modifying the Membership List details (and sent a copy of it to Kevin, last night). It makes sense, that we both have the information.

 

There are 48 people on this Yahoo Board:

 

5 are observers from overseas fan clubs.

 

25 are UK fans who have given their GPO mailing addreses (as well as declared their email addresses)

 

18 are UK fans who have just declared their email addressess.

 

Kev and I are still waiting for news of promo items (Sorry, no definite news yet). As soon as something is available, we can send stuff to the 25 addresses we have so far. If the other 18 fans send in their GPO mailing addresses, we will modify our Lists accordingly (and send them promo stuff, when it arrives). Thanks.

 

What about our ideas to appoint area co ordinators, a media manager etc?  Kev and I have decided that we will put these administration decisions ON HOLD, till we have word that a promotion is on. At that stage, we will sort out area co ordinators etc (as we will then have a need to do so. Most probably, those fans that have said they are interested in being co ordinators, will be automatically asked to do it. It will be as simple as that).

 

What about future plans to develop a better forum board or Hub website? Until we have done our first promotion, there is no need to worry about it? When work on this does resume, please address all website enquiries and ideas to Kevin Dixon haydncorelli@... or at BN-UK-Street-Team@... please. Thanks.
