CANDICE NIGHT OF BLACKMORES NIGHT SET TO CO-STAR IN HORROR FILM HOUSE OF ETERNITY

Filming Scheduled for New York and North Carolina Spring 2008

New York, NY—(January 17, 2008) Multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Candice Night of the Renaissance-flavored Blackmores Night will appear in the supernatural thriller House Of Eternity, along with Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate, a major motion picture set for release in the fourth quarter of 2008 from Fires At Midnight Films.

The movie will feature new music by Candice Night and Blackmores Night.  Additional artists TBA.  The official movie website can be found at http://www.houseofeternity.com

Night’s character is Emily Grayson, the wife of the film’s antagonist whose life becomes embroiled in the post-witch hunt paranoia of the 1700’s.

“House Of Eternity contains something for everyone,” says Candice, “memorable characters struggling against powers far greater than they, desperate, heart-pounding action, innovative approaches to classic horror; even humor and a forlorn love. Plus, there’s a villain who will become timeless.”

Candice, currently in the studio with legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore are recording the next Blackmores Night album, due this summer.

The singer is currently seen on screens throughout the country as Amora; The Warrior Princess for Magiquest, an interactive gaming environment for children at all participating Great Wolf Lodges.

BLACKMORE’S NIGHT, Full Moon In Paris DVD (SPV)

Like Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the metallic origins now transcend the genre and its fans. While TSO is often tug-at-the-heartstrings melodramatic, Blackmore’s Night is more casual, like a chance meeting with an old acquaintance, followed by a few pints ‘round the neighborhood bar.

   For those that don’t know, most of the music is played on traditional medieval period instruments (mandolins, pipes, hurdy gurdy, harpsichord - think Great Big Sea in tights), the band/backing singers wearing period outfits, although Ritchie occasionally pulls out his famous Stratocaster. Current package is a two-hour DVD and abbreviated CD from the same show (drops out covers of ‘Diamonds & Rust’ and a slower acoustic rendition of ‘Soldier Of Fortune’, as well as favourites ‘Streets Of London’, ‘Loreley’ and ‘The Village Lanterne’, plus lesser missed moments, including a keyboard solo). The multi-camera shot DVD (from the titular French capital) features 17 distinct, career-spanning tunes, minus solos, intros and the aforementioned Deep Purple/Judas Priest (Joan Baez) material.

   Unlike the US club setting, this seated Broadway-style theater show is less intimate, losing some of the personality experienced firsthand (an integral part of the Blackmore’s Night vibe), although lively numbers, like the crowd-participation ‘Under A Violet Moon’, ‘Renaissance Faire’, the aforementioned ‘Loreley’ and ‘Home Again’ bring the crowd together under any roof.

   Still the shy one, Blackmore lets Night talk to the crowd, even though he has things to say, in whispered tones, despite her prodding for him to approach the mic. Playing on his reputation (mentioned elsewhere) for being moody and temperamental, at one point Blackmore feigns outrage at an audience member’s refusal to applaud. “He asks people what they want to hear and he plays whatever he wants to play.” Even those with the most casual exposure to classical compositions will recognize some of the instrumental interludes.

   Most prove more action-packed than the pedestrian mid-section of the DVD. In addition to the standard photo gallery, the only bonus is a nine minute documentary, surrounding this specific show, as well as the band, including interviews with Ritchie (funny seeing him in scarecrow hat and sunglasses) and Candice.

Ritchie Blackmore needs no introduction. Besides being, in my
opinion, the most underrated guitarist in hard rock, Blackmore has
been a fixture on the music scene for forty years, from his days with
Deep Purple through Rainbow. About ten years ago the master of
memorable riffs formed a band to explore his love of Renaissance
music. Since that time Blackmore's Night has been a fixture on the
concert scene in Europe, playing everywhere form historic halls and
castles to Renaissance fairs and outdoor arenas in Russia. Last year,
the band filmed its first ever gig in Paris, and has just released a
new DVD of that show, Paris Moon.

It shouldn't work. It really shouldn't. I mean, a Renaissance band?
That dress in period garb? With a rock guitarist? I could have gotten
into this as a kid playing Dungeons and Dragons, but now? I really
shouldn't have liked this. But I did. A lot. And as much as I respect
and admire the virtuosity of Ritchie Blackmore and his frenetic
guitar work, a lot of the credit falls squarely at the feet of
Candice Night, lead singer and longtime girlfriend of Blackmore.
Night is simply an amazing singer, with a pure, melodic voice. She's
at ease with the crowd, conversing with conviction rather than
spewing out the usual crappy stage banter so prevalent at shows.

The "Introduction" starts off like the soundtrack for an 80's sword-
and-sorcery movie, but melds into a re-arrangement of a traditional
English song, written by King Henry VIII. Things take off from there
with a searing rendition of Jethro Tull's "Rainbow Blues". Other
highlights include a cover of "Diamonds and Rust", which Joan Baez,
the original artist, reportedly said was the best version she ever
heard. Another, more obscure cover, is of the Joan Osborne
track "Saint Teresa". Night pulls it off, rearranging the original
melodic structure and working into the Renaissance milieu. "Play
Minstrel Play", "It's Good to Be Back Home Again", and "Under a
Violet Moon" are rousing and upbeat, perfect tracks to accompany a
stein full of mead. The whole band really melds well, and have
evolved into a seasoned live act. It's unusual to see Blackmore
playing mainly acoustic guitar (though he does bring out the Fender a
few times), but his prowess has not faded over the years. His nimble
finger and fret work are at their peak.

The video looks sharp, perfectly capturing the eclectic lights and
stage set. Though the crowd is heard throughout the show, the mix
keeps the music front and center. The DVD has some extras including a
short documentary. Packaging includes a lyric book and separate
soundtrack CD.

This is the people that since the beginning was helping me with all type of news, reviews, photos, comments, spiritual and emotional things!

And I´m helping this Brazilian fans.

Their questions helped me to make a brainstorm! Even though they didn´t send me anything,

Another question of our fans is about Medieval Events, one or another asked me

So I met Leslye and she is sending me every week Information about Brazilian events about the medieval theme. There´s courses about painting, about literature, people that play harp at lounge bars, at Medieval Theme Meetings...

Theres a very cute medieval scene here, Leslye opened my windows to another perspective.

Now I will put some reviews about the DVDs in session of Videografia (videography).

Brazilian fans is diferent of americans or europeans fans, they wait for information of somebody or some press info, they aren´t used to make content for theirselves, cause they don´t have an idea of the fantastic tools that we can use to spread the news and informations about an artist, band, activity...

So I´m using blog systems to put news online, always reading the official website and yahoo groups!
This is helping me a lot!
