"One of our band members was extremely ill and in the hospital clinic for hours
prior to the show and went to the show, right from emergency treatment. We did not
expect to even be able to have a show that night. That is why they had to stop a
little early, still playing close to two hours. The sold-out audience was
fantastic even waiting outside for hours to applaud the group when they left the
venue."

I Morning Star, con il brano "World of Stone" dei Blackmore's Night, sono passati al secondo turno del Festival Nazionale "TOUR MUSIC FEST", un concorso che si svolge toccando 24 cittĂ  italiane. La giuria ha espresso un giudizio estremamente positivo, esaltando la qualitĂ  dell'esecuzione e l'impatto scenico della band.

I Morning Star sono il risultato della fusione di musicisti provenienti dalle esperienze musicali più diverse. E’ a tutt’oggi l’unico gruppo italiano ad eseguire un repertorio unicamente basato sui brani del grande chitarrista Ritchie Blackmore e della vocalist Candice Night. La band propone atmosfere di ispirazione medievale e rinascimentale, dalle ballate classiche dei menestrelli itineranti con mandole e altri strumenti dell’epoca a brani eseguiti con un accattivante tocco di strumenti moderni senza mai tradire la matrice romantica che caratterizza questa musica. Grazie ai numerosi virtuosismi strumentali, della chitarra in special modo, riescono ad attirare, oltre agli estimatori della musica tradizionale anche un folto pubblico di giovani. First Gig of UK Blackmores Night tribute band!!!

Hi all.

Well here we go with the first gig for the all-new CARTOUCHE band.  I actually started trying to get this all together last December so only taken 6 months!  We still need a keyboard player to really fill out the sound as the one we did have/may still have is rather flaky/unreliable so if anyone knows a keyboard player give them my e-mail....Please!

Anyway, on to the gig; we've only had two or three run-throughs with the whole band but as the gig is in a beer tent (my natural habitat); and on the basis that the more you drink the better we sound, thought we'd go for it.

So 2pm start next Sat the 9th at the:

Barcombe Mills Country Show
Bridge Farm, Barcombe Mills, nr Lewes 10 am start

Annual Country Show with grand firework display saturday night, traditional fun fair, trade stalls, beer festival, boot fair, tractor rides, military vehicles. tug of war, dog show, pardade of horses and hounds, birds of prey, ice cream and craft tent. Just head for Barcombe and it will be signposted.  The show opens at 10am and there is a band on in the evening as well, no idea who they are.

BLACKMORES NIGHT Review (Music Street Journal)

Hello, everyone, I wanted to let you know that the latest issue of Music Street Journal (musicstreetjournal.com) is live It might well be our biggest issue yet – with over 120 new articles. Of course, with this issue going live the past issue is only available in our archives. PRAY FOR LIGHT IS THE NEW TITLE FOR THIS SOON TO BE RELEASED HORROR FILM-FEATURING CANDICE NIGHT

“The producers changed the title to convey the sense of hopelessness and isolation that is suffered upon the main characters, and the underlying religious AND anti-religious tones that are the driving force of the film.

The film takes place in present day with flashbacks to the 1700’s and is tied to the post hysteria of the Salem witch trials. My character, Emily Grayson is a woman of means who is suspected of exercising the dark arts.

Nothing more can be revealed at this time- but the exciting cast and progress of the film is moving ahead rapidly”.

After six albums of juxtaposing folk and rock in a renaissance vibe at varying
degrees of
success, Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple and Rainbow fame returns once more
with his
merry troupe (though smaller this time around) for another rousing rabble of
festivals,
fantasy, and folklore. The seventh entry has them stepping out of the forest,
away from
the castle, and far off the travelled paths – as both cover and title imply,
Secret Voyage
takes the listener to all manner of the unseen and unknown.


The context of Blackmore's Night is the rockstar turned minstrel who grew weary
of fame,
and retired to a project closer to the heart with his companion who just happens
to have a
siren's voice. Since 1997, the band has been performing a compelling blend of
medieval
folk, ornate minstrel tunes, and the occasional throwback to rock and roll.
While Ritchie
and Candice are certainly the leaders here, the band brings much to accentuate
their style
with a compliment of keyboard, drums, violin, and mandolin. A rich vault of
experience
gives the group a lively and diverse style, allowing them to seamlessly drift
between
classically-inspired folk as in Gilded Cage to classic rock in a renaissance
shell, expertly
showcased in Locked within the Crystal Ball.


In their last true full-length, Blackmore's Night was seen as an 11-piece
outfit, but
returned as a trim sixpence. And while they no longer carry a dedicated
bagpiper, and are
short a pair of backup singers, the band has actually benefited by cutting their
ranks. In
the vein of benefits, this is also the first of their albums to lead off with an
instrumental to
gradually ease into stronger material, rather than playing their trump card
immediately
(Read: Way to Mandalay and Shadow of the Moon); instead of segueing to
mediocrity, the
album closes as sturdy as it began. As is expected from a musician this deep
into a
successful career, the production is near-flawless with stringed instruments
dominating in
a crisp timbre that brilliantly matches Candice's powerful vocals, with not a
strain to be
heard.


With album arrangement, ability, and production in top form, Secret Voyage is
consistently
excellent throughout, showcasing a top-notch gambit of folk and rock, dirges and
celebrations. When it comes to a neo-medieval creation that captures the
romantic allure
of those times long past with a modern flair and no drought of imagination,
there is
simply no band to compare to Blackmore's Night.
