Hello,
Yesterday was Philip Oakey's birthday! Belated birthday wishes, Philip!
Sean, nice to know about the 25th anniversary of The Human League's "Dare"
album on the 26th of October. This means a lot to me... especially at a time
when I am on the verge of submitting an M.Sc. project that to some extent looks
at the work of The Human League from 1977-1981 period, especially from
"Reproduction" and "Dare" albums!
Cheers,
Ajit

Here's a date for your diaries if you're anywhere near London...
Thursday 26th October
"PRETTY IN PINK" presents
a celebration of the 25th anniversary
of THE HUMAN LEAGUE's "Dare" album!
@ The Fly, 36-38 New Oxford St, London WC1A 1EP
(near Tottenham Court Road tube)
"PRETTY IN PINK" is a monthly retro club night
devoted to the best music of the late 70s and
the 80s (with occasional surprises thrown in
from other years).
We have two floors of music - upstairs is mostly
indie/post-punk/alternative, and downstairs is
mostly new wave/new romantic/pop... so that's
where we'll be marking the 25th anniversary of
"Dare"!
Throughout the evening, we'll be playing every
track from "Dare" in one form or another - either
the album version or one of the remixes from 1981
(no modern remixes!). We'll kick off with "Get
Carter" at 7:30pm and play another "Dare" track
every 25-30 minutes until we've played them all
at around midnight!
And as an extra treat for League fans, we'll
also throw in a few League-related treats such
as Heaven 17 and so on.
Other artists you can expect to hear downstairs
include Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys,
Madonna, Prince, Adam & The Ants, Soft Cell,
Japan, Sparks, OMD, Gary Numan, A-ha, Erasure,
New Order, The Cure, Blondie, The Smiths,
Siouxsie & The Banshees, Visage and ABC.
You're encouraged to dress in a late 70s/80s or
alternative style if possible (some pink would
be good!), and here's the best bit...
...admission is FREE!
