Yes, the tracks on the website were from third or fourth generation
cassettes, hence all the hiss. Although we had no choice but to use
those cassettes for "The Circus Of Dr Lao" (which was released with
noticeable hiss - Richard could only do so much to clean it up),
almost everything else came from master tapes or first generation copies.

David Beevers, the League's current (and longtime) engineer kindly
cleaned up a lot of old master tapes which were in terrible condition,
almost falling apart. The CD would probably be somewhat shorter
without his help, and some music history could have been lost forever!

Hey, was the GHOTF remastered to take all the hiss off? It seems a lot less hissy than the samples that used to be on the site....
