Hi everyone. I just joined this group.
Bob just recently came to Milwaukee for a surprise house concert for my
husband's 50th birthday. It was the best birthday present I could have
given my husband. Bob was wonderful! From the start, when I first
proposed this idea, Bob could not have been better to work with. He
answered all my questions, responded promptly by email, fulfilled
beyond hope what I had imagined for the concert. He was personable,
helpful, generous, funny, and he sang and played wonderfully. The
evening was magical.
So, all you fans out there, consider organizing a house concert of your
own!!! You will be delighted with the event! We had, in our living
and dining rooms, about 30-40 people. (My friends brought folding
chairs to supplement the chairs I had.) Bob just made himself at home
and did what he does so well; he told stories and sang into the
evening.
The way I started this whole thing was simply to email Bob off the
sort-of official website. It was so easy to work this out. Bob even
found a great rate for the plane ticket to get here from L.A! A friend
of mine picked him up, took him to his hotel and drove him to where we
ate dinner. Then we took over from there, driving him from the
restaurant to our home, back to his hotel for the night, and then to
the airport in the morning.
IT WAS SO EASY ---AND SO MUCH FUN!!!
So, I am writing just to encourage you fans out there to think about
orchestrating such an event for yourselves! Contrary to what David
Letterman says, "Try this at home!" You will treasure the memories of
your event forever. I know we will.
