Lesli,

You "listened" to The Least of These? I don't know anything about
that audio. Have you seen the DVD, "The Least of These"? A great
short film that one lots of awards. I highly recommend it. I showed
it to our Bible Study group and had a great response.

Have a GREAT week!

Michael

Lesli,
I see no harm in posting a prayer request.
If for some reason someone didn't like it, they could simply not respond.
It is good for us to reach out to others on our own behalf, or for others' needs.
Your needs are in my prayers.

Lesli,

There have been several times in the past where people (myself included) have posted prayer requests
and concerns on to this group. To the best of my knowledge, they all were warmly received. I see no
particular problem for you to having mentioned this here. There is power in prayer -- my church is
personally seeing that in some miraculous ways. I believe that prayer can make a difference in
situations. I believe that a friend of mine is alive today only because of prayer. As for your original
sharing of concerns -- I trust God shows you His will and His direction through it all.

SOS

Hello Bob group. I know many of you are people of prayer and have much
wisdom in Christ, so I'm sending across the vast internet via Bob's
old yahoo group....because he is a man of compassion and was a man of
the tombs....and I know many here have the same heart of compassion.

Need prayer support and help. Working at a Christian Bookstore in
Culpeper, VA. Married a prisoner. Homeschooling one daughter.

-need the local church to support this local bookstore.

-prisoners at Coffeewood Correctional Center are ordering books and
CD's from us but have such limited income that we would like to have a
fund set aside to help de-fray the costs for prisoners.

-need prayer because the DOC (Dept. of Corrections) is such a
bureaucratic compassionless system that makes it very difficult for
Christians to bring the word of God, teaching, dicipleship, mentoring,
etc.

-govt. programs do not replace the work of God's people.

-worldly fear and propoganda keep Christians from visiting and loving
those in prison. We need to obey Jesus words from Matthew 25.

-Michelle and I (Lesli) are so computer unsavvy and have no website up
and in fact her computer has crashed twice losing all store inventory
and we are now stuck with no cash register connection.

-Many Christians in town say they will help, but their words have been
empty promises.

Your friend in Christ,
Lesli Manto

Well, let me put in a shameless, "Bob didn't pay me to say this" plug for Six String Prayers since I've had a chance to listen to it. If you're a Bob-head this one really ought to be in your collection. Track 2 alone is worth the price of the CD. It was a great introduction to John Standefer for me as well. There are CDs that you put on to calm your rattled nerves and create a peaceful environment and this is one of them. Great choice of songs with wonderful guitar arrangements. Point - click - buy. You're gonna love it.

BTW John, I don't think it matters if you get it through Bob's site or John's site. I'm sure the financials are worked out evenly regardless of where it's purchased (as long as it didn't come from Crazy Dave's Bootleg CD-o-Rama).

Hello from Albany Georgia,

I am once again on location for the next movie from the church that
produced Facing The Giants. Needless to say, the enemy has mounted a
strong attack against us. My mother is fighting for her life in the
hospital in Tampa. The Director of Photography's family has also been
taken to the hospital with an undisclosed problem, and just now, we
just got a call that the Assistant Camera Operator, Chip, was in a
near fatal car accident near Gainesville, Florida, on his way back to
Albany. The DP and the co-producer have diverted from their trip back
here from Orlando to that hospital and I am awaiting word. Chip had to
be cut from his car and life flighted to the hospital. He is in grave
condition.

Please pray for the hand of our gracious Lord to touch Chip, keep him
alive, and restore him to health. Also pray for my mom, and for Bob's
family. I am not sure if we will try to shoot tomorrow. It was to be
our big scene involving a train and two crashed cars. Very hard to do
and a challenge for us all.

If you have a list of prayer warriors, please engage them with these
requests. If your church has a prayer chain, please call it on our
behalf. And ask anyone else who is called to prayer to add the above
requests to their list.

I thank you for being there for us in this time of devastation. You
don't know how important you are.

Thanks again,

Rob w

Dear Kenny,
I also agree in prayer with you that the Lord Jesus, our Healer
will restore the sensations in Erik's face. Lord may joy, laughter,
pain and sorrow all be registered on Erik's face. Restore the nerve
endings and take away the numbness...in the Name of Jesus we ask, for
your glory Father God.

"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are
being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which
comes from the Lord, who is the
Spirit." II Corinthians 3:18

Hi, have you heard about the crisis in Burma? Burma is ruled by one of the worst military dictatorships in the world. This week Buddhist monks and nuns began marching and chanting prayers to call for democracy. The protests spread and hundreds of thousands of Burmese people joined in -- they've been brutally attacked by the military regime, but still the protests are spreading. I just signed a petition calling on Burma's powerful ally China and the UN security council to step in and pressure Burma's rulers to stop the killing. The petition has exploded to over 200,000 signatures in a few days and is being advertised in newspaper. Please sign the petition if you can.

best wishes Chris Tozer

Dear Kenny,
How horrible to see your child suffering. How brave to give him injections yourself.
While claiming healing by faith, it is important to remember the trials we go through make us; stronger, more able to cope and better equipped to help others.
In this time of recuperating and rehabilitating, try to remember that Erik was spared from death, is already on his way to recovery and working a bit.
"HE who begins a good work in me will be faithful to complete it."
Patience is a fruit of the spirit. Despair is of the enemy.
Stay strong for Erik, as you have been.
What a glorious opportunity you have been given to minister to him, body and spirit.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise HIM all creatures here below.
Praise HIM above, Ye Heavenly Hosts.
Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost.
Amen!

The tune "Duke Street" is known most for it's use in the hymn "Jesus
Shall Reign" (I think that's the title). I attended a Bible conference
some years ago where Bob was leading the worship music for that event.
Guess what? One of the hymns was indeed "Jesus Shall Reign". It was
very interesting to hear that guitar intro that all Bob fans will
recognize from "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" used as the intro to that
song that day. Very cool.

Bob was encouraged by a mutual friend of ours, Steve Todd (a former Lutheran) to use that hymn. We were attending Calvary Chapel Downey at the time and Steve was the associate Pastor. At least that's how Steve tells it  ;-)

Duke Street, as many Bobophiles will know, is the tune to which the words of
"I Know That My Redeemer Lives" were set.

I've heard Bob perform this a number of times, and I truly enjoy the
acapella portions, as well as his wonderful guitar work.

However, I was surfing the internet for midi, wav, and mp3 files of hymns.
I came across a German site with a nice selection of tunes. One of them was
a pair of midi files with the music for "I Know That My Redemeer Lives". I
opened up the first one and sat there slack jawed as I listened to an
adaptation of Bob's arrangement for this wonderful old hymn.

Back in 1993 a version of "The Place I Am Bound" was released on
Fast Folk Musical Magazine (Vol. 7, No. 8) Los Angeles 1993. That CD
has been difficult to purchase; plus you had to buy the whole CD even
if you only wanted Bob's track.

Well, today Amazon put their MP3 music store into a public beta (see
http://www.amazon.com/gp/blog/post/PLNK1GR94T4PJ38D6 ) and if you
search for Bob Bennett you can buy that version of "The Place I Am
Bound" for $0.99.

Thank you for sharing so openly. Many of us here have struggled with
the "black cloud" descending. Lord, we pray for our brother Chris and
those in his family. We ask you to pour out your peace that passes all
understanding and restore the joy of their salvation.

We ask You to come against the powers of this dark world and against
the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms there where Chris
is. We pray that you strengthen Chris and his family for the days to
come. Give Chris clarity of vision concerning his family and the
direction he is to go. Strengthen Chris and raise him from the miry
clay of despair. Holy LORD, may he praise YOU and wait patiently
"though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the
vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls"
(Hab. 3:17-19), give Chris...and all of us Lord, the will to rejoice
in you and be joyful in God our Savior no matter what happens in our
lives.

Make Chris' feet like the feet of a deer and enable him to go on the
heights...Father God. Be his strength....in Jesus name we ask these
things....

Your bro and sister in VA, USA
Mike and Lesli

as you have asked, so be it unto you...
i agree as with one mind and in one accord, that your time will not
be lost or wasted, that you will have a sense of something deeper and
inexplicable moving just beneath the surface of the seen...
something greater than any previous sense of God's moving.
...for those who have shown mercy and compassion.
...for those who need a touch.
...that all the brokenness will be an honour and glory to God
according to His Word.

...that He will be true to His character and keep His promises to
you... to us all.

praise and honour and glory to the Lord God who passes before us
proclaiming His mercy, lovingkindness, long suffering and unfailing
love.

Holy is God who continually draws us with cords of love to reconcile
ourselves to Him... in Him who IS love.

grace and peace to you (to us all).

Hi,

If this news is old hat, forgive me. To others who know nothing - I'm sorry about the shock...

It's Chris Tozer asking for your prayers at a rather critical time. I had hoped to share with you the fantastic news that Mandy and I would be spending the coming academic year in California on a Government sponsored teacher exchange. We've been going through the application process for this since last November.

Unfortunately, I was one of the last to get the final green light but it came three days too late as I have been off sick from school with anxiety and depression ever since June 20th. A week later I had no option but to pull out of the exchange . I had lovely understanding replies from the US but I am still suffering the effects of my exit from school seven weeks later.

For over five miserable weeks I got barely a couple of hours sleep a night despite having sleeping tablets. To compensate I spent many sleepless day time hours tossing and turning disconsolately under the duvet on the sofa downstairs. At night I would hug myself so tight that I actually bruised the area below my thumb and the insole of my foot - which is still sometimes painful to walk on. How pathetic is that?

During a car journey to Wales I felt so dreadful that I wanted to fall out the door. When we arrived at our friend Gaynor's home in Pontardawe she was so concerned that she got me an emergency appointment with her G.P. the next morning. The doctor prescribed me stronger tablets and since July 31st I've had a decent amount of sleep each night. Hence I am no longer continually bleary eyed and dreading night time. And neither am I spending many day time hours under the duvet. That said, I'm not exactly eager to get up in the morning. Even the simplest of basic tasks can require a great deal of will power.

Happily, during August I have some signs of improvement though they are often followed by a day of relapse. I can now listen to music, read a little and watch some TV and go for walks. Everything depends on my mood - especially when I've got something to do like typing this email, or people to meet either at home or elsewhere. Friends from church have been very kind at ringing up or popping in, or having me visit them. My special thanks go to our vicar John Saunders who has visited on a weekly basis. Other kind visitors have been Keith Sheepwash and Pat and Aubrey Holland. Steve Carr has taken me out and Dave Harwood and Denise and Mike Young have had me visit them.  Dear Gill Murphy has also kept contact and two friends from school popped in. I've even had calls from as far away as Germany, visitors from Oz and some emails, too. After the bad start that time in Wales was helpful - so three cheers to Gaynor and Laurence. Then there are my amazing friends in Romford.

If this is the first time that you've heard about my troubles then this is why I'm now emailing you. People tell me that it's good that I'm prepared to talk about what's happened - but I don't want to lose all my friends by being heavy company. I don't like to bother folk who have young children. But, I do hope that you can cope with all this negativity and stand by me in my hour of need.

Please pray that August won't be wasted summer month like July and early June were.
Please pray also that I will have enough contact with people in order to raise my spirits.
Pray particularly that I don't drag Mandy as one day she saw no point of getting up.
Pray for Mandy as she starts looking for work in line with her true abilities - be it teaching or something close to that.
Pray for her to make wise choices. She has an interview this coming week.
Pray for Laura as she heads off to Uruguay on 15th August as part of her uni language studies. Understandably she's concerned about leaving her parents in such a mess.
Pray for Helen, currently on phones at County Hall that she'll cope with us as we are.
Pray for Sarah as she shares a house in Gillingham with friend Claire Ashmore from the Baptist Church - that they can support each other as they learn to be independent.
Pray for Mike and his Helen - that they won't feel helpless so far away in Hong Kong.

Give thanks for the several signs of improvement - especially with sleeping only at night.
Give thanks for the response from various Doctors and that I've been promised contact with the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy here in Medway.
Give thanks for friends who have been in contact in so many different ways
Give thanks for special days at festivals, conferences, church events and simple walks in the park.

Above all pray for full healing - and about whether and when I should return to full time teaching. And if the answer has to be 'no' - that we will survive. I certainly wont be teaching in September as my class has a supply teacher already booked in to start the term.

I once wrote in a song 'God knows the future'. And that is what Mandy & I must hold firm to.

Thanks, if you've got this far in reading this. If you can spare a mo' I'd love to hear from you in whatever form suits you.

best wishes Chris Tozer  (aged 57 and one quarter)

Thank you for prayers. I have heard through my daughter's report that
John in N.Y. is recovering from his heart attack. He was reportedly
touched by the Bob Bennett songs sent to him...May the Lord continue
to draw him into His glorious Kingdom....in Jesus NAME.

Here are the songs I burned on the CD for him....the Lord gave me
exactly the right ones! In this order... Hallelujah....

Hand of Kindness-ROTKB
Man of the Tombs-LATRC ((Live at the Rhythm Cafe)
Intro to "You're Always Welcome Here" from the LATRC recording
You're Always Welcome Here LATRC
1951- LATRC
Still Rolls the Stone- TVFH
Kings of Summer Street-TVFH
Our Co-Dependent Love-ROTKB
Lord of the Past-TVFH
We Were the Kings-TVFH
Small Graces-SG
Intro: Jesus Christ the Apple Tree-LATRC
Jesus Christ the Apple Tree- LATRC
Psalm 149- LOTP
My Redeemer Lives- FTF
The Best Thing I Can Tell You- FTF

I was blessed to have these recordings by Bob, I know that not all of
you have these available, but I hope he does make them all available
to you and that you bless his ministry with your tithes and offerings
because the Holy Spirit does truly use and move through these precious
songs of Bob's to particular individuals as you all know.

In His Love I thank our Lord for these resources.

Interesting - have not posted for a while, but yesterday, I was trying
to work out "Man of the Tombs" on my guitar, because that song was on
my heart.

Lesli, Chris - any updates on your requests for prayer?

Late on the post - but here is praying that The Holy Spirit draws
