A group for the discussion, appreciation and promotion of Al Bowlly - the man and his music. Many people regard him as the greatest singer of the dance band era, and one for whom we need to create a fitting memorial. One of our group endeavours will be to bring his recordings to the attention of a wider audience.
Al’s recording career spanned the years 1927 to 1941, during which time he recorded with a number of different bands, the most notable being Arthur Briggs, Fred Elizalde, Len Fillis, Roy Fox, Geraldo, Carroll Gibbons, Howard Godfrey, Harry Hudson, Jack Jackson, Ken “Snakehips” Johnson, Arthur Lally, Jack Leon, Sidney Lipton, Monia Liter, Mantovani, Jock McDermott, Ronnie Munro, the New Mayfair Dance Orchestra, Ray Noble, Sid Phillips, George Scott-Wood, Lew Stone, Reginald Williams, Maurice Winnick, Marius B.
