Wow,
I am still bushed from an all-nighter, but I saw a fantastic show.
First off, the Quicksilver Messenger Service revival far outshone my
expectations. I am a 30+ year fan of this band, but never had the
opportunity to see them perform. I was absolutely blown away by their
act. Gary Duncan back in the fold with David and a few of our very
professional favcorites rocked the house. Who Do You Love, Piece By
Peace, What About Me, Edward, Mona and Moreee!!!! Yeehaah!
Then came Jefferson Starship. This was a somewhat liesurely show, as
there was no silly curfew to deal with. A well rested band took the
stage with power and all in a great mood. PP and Slick are back in
the fold after sharing duties elsewhere over the summer and the band
was unified again. They kicked ass. Without giving anything away
(you will be able to find set-lists in the usual locations), I can
tell you this WAS the best show since the 40th reunion at the Van Dyke
a year ago . For those of you who know me and see a lot of shws,
you know what this means. The Ed's Event show at Point Breeze and BB
Kings in Feb, were also tremendous shows. This was better! A
confident, powerful Diana led the charge, but the boys were on too.
Slick was everywhere on stage (reminiscent of Glasgow and Wales last
year> but happy not defiant) and (though he denied this point) out to
prove who the best guitar player in the house was. The set-list was
also enhanced beyond what had become near standard over the past year.
One of the high points was a well blown, enotional full Blows
suite!!!! I will post more on A-Deck when I get rested and pull
mythoughts back together.
Get to NYC, Philly or Long Isalnd this week and see a show if there is
any way to do so. The bands are hot!!!!!!!!
