yep, not sure what happened --
I didn't see my post until three days later.
(did anyone see it 8.24?)
I checked the website and it wasn't showing up there.
(wasn't Yahoo that I could tell- I recd other yahoo group mail)
Really surprised not to see even one person speak of John's bday.
Same on the .com. where's the love? (or did I miss something)
I guess John was/is a shadowy figure so maybe it's apropos.
While there's a flicker of life here... some may appreciate this;
some friends (Jim Thomas of the Mermen (g), Shig33 Komiyama (d)
and Dave Jess (b)) performed Cobra a while back
after long-repeated urgings from myself and a couple other JC/JT fans.
Unfortunately some of life's twists precluded it's fully flowering,
(ie the regrettable discontinuance of their weekly gig at the Park
Chalet)
but the half dozen times or so they attacked it while a little rough
were absolutely thrilling to those of us who loved JC's music-
(and to many other attendees who were clueless too for that matter-
people were digging it).
Never thought I'd hear Cobra live again.
The recordings of the performances weren't nearly as thrilling
as hearing those drums and the power chords and peeling wails
of the guitar reverberating out there on the Great Highway
which made my socks roll up and down
and smoke come out my ears.
