I was a little slow to get the 2007 Terry and the Pirates release "Return to
Silverado" and finally got to listen to it today.
On listening, I was disappointed that the re-released original album portion
of Return to Silverado had occasional small clicks or pops which are not in
the previous Big Beat "Silverado Trail" cd. I am pretty sure this is in the
glass pressing since I eac-ed the cd in secure mode to wav without any
errors and the clicks can be heard and are also visible in a wav editor. For
example there is a click at d1t7 4:11 not on the original. I seemed to
average hearing several per song.
I wonder if the producers listened carefully to this. Or maybe they started
with a Big Beat cd and ripped it to wav with some errors and then raised the
levels and did a little sound processing to get to this one. In a wav editor
these flaws look like typical bad cd rip flaws which have then been sound
processed.
I did notice my Big Beat "Silverado Trail" cd had two different irregular
shadings of goldish brown on the cd top and cannot remember if that is how
it came or whether the brown insert was staining it or worse that this was
cd rot from a poorly manufactured cd which could be why this new release may
have its problems.
I did like getting the bonus tracks and extra cd not on the original.
