Hey hey,, Crude news for the merry month of May ---don't wanna
know...?Go check out what Christina Aguilera is doing RIGHT NOW and
validate thyselves..!http://www.christinaaguilera.com/home.html But
to those who care - read on......
Amidst a tirade of parochial slander [inside my head],I have managed
to remaster 5 titles previously only available on cassette.
Transfered from the sound slash slurry of tape to the plastic sheen
of Cd-r these works should delight die-hard Crude freaks [they
exist?] and newcomers alike. 'We shall Nurture Solipsists' [call cry
of some nihilist cult?] was recorded in one day in 1999 and features
the unearthly shreik of 'Machette'.http://www.mp3.com.au/track.asp?
id=101524 The remainder of the album
is a delirious jaunt into 'dark ambient' terrain - a sound apparently
fitting for that biblically charged year..[ and what a let down it
was too]. Please get it. 'Notes From the Microcommunity' [small town
life getting a bit stuffy there..?] is a rag-bag of cackling
saxophone, field recordings and other sound art junk. Fans of those
cute lil' cassettes and those with a preference for the Crude sound
of the 'Inner City Guitar Perspectives' era ['94,'95,'96] will
appreciate the remastering of the classic tape 'Order'. Lot's of
guitar, simplistic and chunky synth and clarinet work here, much of
this album ended up on the aforementioned LP. Features the
song 'Dinner and a Movie' and the clarinet acapella 'a Reprimand',
which contributed to Aleister Galbraiths 'next new way' compliation
Cd released in 1998.
But for those who wish to dig deeper, I gone done the old demo tape
resurrection/rehabilitation thing [compare beastie boys 'some old
bullshit', any 'rarities and b-sides' albums etc etc] and commited 29
real early songs from the first batch of tape releases to a shiny 2
disc set. It ain't everything recorded but it's got the highlights.
Fucked up songs, sketchbook versions of what became Aesthetics
material, alternate versions, tracks from geraldine lathe releases -
all 4-track, all dirty, all indie lofi basically. Go get it. \
Cover art'll for these cds'll be posted to the photos section soon.
[along with the covers of 'rich and dumb', 'the gel' and the tekno
set]
Anyway,,,,,,housekeeping....you've probably noticed that the long
promised 'official site' ain't on the web yet. It's kinda like the
state of the Death Star in Return of the Jedi. Or the NASA low earth
orbit obsession. Or the minimum wage - it won't get off the ground.
Bear with me. Looking to create the most modern, relevant and
exciting site possible. Hopefully those mp3s will tide y'all over.
Thinkin' of initiating some kind of email based service whereby I
send pre-ordered individual songs as attachments to inboxes. Or
bunches of songs..the mp3 phenomenon has seemingly rendered the basic
musical unit to songs instead of albums.[Like Unattached single
workers instead of nuclear families]. I got the back-catalogue
sitting on cds as data [128 bit 44Khz mp3s ] so really i only need to
find somewhere to host 'em. But your gonna pay. Thinking of
getting 'staff' on bicycles to go door-to-door fundamentalist
Christian style and personally 'install' Crude data to hard drives.
we are living in the future my friends.
Think Tupperware. Think Amway. Think community craft shoppe.

Please order my stuff. I need your orders to make this happen.
Each Crude recording is fashioned by hand and stitched together with
the love of a doting Grandmother. Your order pays for the paper, the
cd-r, the labour, and a pint of beer. I construct your order in a
gnostic trance. If i could market my stuff enmasse like a robotic
fordist reptile I would, but I don't work for Coca-Cola.
I guess i should spell out how to buy..............

CRUDE - NOTES FROM THE MICROCOMMUNITY : $10 US / $20 NZ
CRUDE - WE SHALL NURTURE SOLIPSISTS : $10 US / $20 NZ
CRUDE - ORDER : $10 US / $20 NZ
CRUDE - LE CHALEUR BASSE DE FIDLEITE [EARLY SHIT] [2 CDS] : $15 US /

no paypal as yet sorry. eamil me with your order, send cash or cheque
to Matthew Middleton to PO Box 1320, Dunedin, New Zealand. If kiwis
wish to put money direct inot my account [ which is so easy now with
the internet] I'll post you my number. I'll see if this is possible
internationally. I keep in touch with all customers via email
diligently. any questions or requests just eemail me.
If you're with Internal Affairs, let's make a big deal out of the odd
$10 bill eh?
It's New Zealand Music Month. Tune into bfm here :
http://www.95bfm.co.nz/default,live.sm

basically BANNED here.
